Regina (reginar) All of the scenes were so good! LOL, all of them. Usually in books like these the steam scenes get old, not here. :)

message 5002: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) DG, how is he doing today? Is he going to work?

message 5003: by D.G. (new)

D.G. He came home at around midnight. His lip was all swollen and he had some rash still in his body but he seemed fine. He was more concerned that the people in the hospital scheduled several appointments for him to overcharge him! (Given all the health problems of his previous wife, he's had terrible experiences with insurances and hospitals and hates them.)

Of course, I barely slept a wink checking on him to make sure he was breathing.

message 5004: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) That is so scary. Is he a big seafood fan? Will this be hard on him?

message 5005: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am reading Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr and listening to Dust & Decay (Benny Imura, #2) by Jonathan Maberry

message 5006: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Regina wrote: "That is so scary. Is he a big seafood fan? Will this be hard on him?"

It shouldn't be a problem. He only eats seafood a few times a year tops.

Now if it was fruit...(I've never met a person that loves fruit more than he does.)

message 5007: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Allergic reactions are scary! Whew...I'm glad he's okay, DG.

message 5008: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Well I guess that is okay. And he is fortunate to have it happen in a place where he could get quick treatment. Allergic reactions are scary. I had one to sulfa wear my tongue and lips were swelling -- I didn't realize that my throat was closing too. I thankfully got the nurse on the phone (I hadn't wanted to call but my mom convinced me to call) and she said, "Your nasal passages and your throat are closing. In about 20 minutes you will not be able to breathe. You need to get benadryl in you right away." LOL. I was at my parents, who live 15 minutes outside of town in the country and everyone in the house had the stomach flu. So I quickly threw on clothes and was racing toward the door and my sick mom said, "honey stay here, I'll go for you." She is notorious for taking hours to go get a pizza because she is so easily distracted, lol. I ripped open that package of benadryl in the store and swallowed without water. It was as a scary 15 minutes!

message 5009: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Wow...that sounds scary, Regina! I use to work in a doctors office and people would come in with allergic reactions. When this happened, we had to call "Dr Stat" over the intercom and all the doctors would rush out and make sure the patient was okay. This always scared me especially when little kids had shortness of breath.

I will have to make sure to have benadryl stocked in my medicine cabinet. You never know when something like that would happen.

message 5010: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments regina, I'm glad you liked One Reckless Summer! I loved the steaminess of that book! So hot! I'll have to think if I've read something with a similar theme. Everyone seems to like the Lucky Harbor series Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor, #1) by Jill Shalvis but I didn't really care for the 1st book...so I'm not sure if this is something you would like.

message 5011: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay exactly! I always have current adult and children's benadryl. I would be so scared to if that happened in an office setting. Now I am being paranoid, but I wonder if I should carry it on me at work (I know we don't have any in our first aid kit) and while I am coaching.

Funny you mention Shalvis's books. I spent a lot of time looking at all of her books this morning. She has 2 in NG right now. In the end I decided based on your rating of the first one and people's criticisms of it that the series is not for me. It seems that everyone (including Leea I think) had a similar criticism -- not a lot of character development. That is a book killer for me. So I will keep looking, but thanks for the suggestion! I saw that Leea didn't like the rest of Blake's books as much as she liked the first one. But you did. So I may try #2 of the Destiny series. :) I also need to read the new Rainbow Harbor book (Kleypas) and I still really want to try a Julie James book.

Also -- any news on the Outlander release date front? I haven't seen anything. As soon as she has a solid release date I am going to do a series re-read and then finish Echo.

message 5012: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Last I heard she was still saying 2013.

message 5013: by D.G. (new)

D.G. That's really scary, Regina!

He passed out very close to the Police station in the Port Authority and when he came to, there were 3 police officers around him and the EMTs had already been called. He said he felt fine afterwards and just wanted to come home but of course, they insisted on taking him to the hospital. There he got benadryl and saline solution to hydrate him.

I'm glad they made him to the hospital because knowing him, he'd just would have come home without even stopping by the drugstore for benadryl.

message 5014: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So 2013, but no month estimate. Ugh, okay I will hold off.

DG that is amazingly fortunate where he passed out! His friends or bystanders didn't even have to think about what to do!

message 5015: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments DG...did he pass out by himself? Was anyone with him? That must have been a sight...waking up to EMT and police officers!!

Regina, I liked One Reckless Summer the most out of the series but enjoyed the others just as much (except for the latest one).

There are a few that have caught my eye that I haven't read yet:
When Lightning Strikes (Whiskey Creek Trilogy, #1) by Brenda Novak Carolina Home (Dare Island, #1) by Virginia Kantra The Look of Love (The Sullivans, #1) by Bella Andre

And Julie James...I love her! So, I hope you will eventually get to her books!

I am allergic to sulfa too. My face got all buffy and discolored. I was a kid and it scared the crap out of my mom. She rushed me to the doctor.

message 5017: by D.G. (last edited Sep 24, 2012 10:26AM) (new)

D.G. He was with a friend. I felt bad for the guy...he must have been scared out of his wits!

Regina - To hear him tell the story, he was actually mad that he got help so quickly!

message 5018: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I would have been too D.G. I am not sure I would be good in a crisis.

D.G. Marcella wrote: "I would have been too D.G. I am not sure I would be good in a crisis."

I would have freaked out too...mostly because my husband is healthy as a horse and he never gets sick. Having him faint out of the blue would have scared me to death!

I actually did end up liking him at the end. He isn't my favorite hero but he was okay. To be honest, despite everything Bastien did in the beginning, it was the heroine I had the most trouble with. She was too much of a damsel and did some things I felt lacked common sense.

It's funny how some books will trigger me to hate the Hero for things he does, like Tack in Motorcycle Man for example, and yet others will get away with a lot and it won't even make a ripple with me. Weird, right? But usually I try to stay away from books with straight out rape by the hero and forced seduction.

D.G., I'm glad to hear your husband is okay.

Edited to add: Sorry, I forgot to mention that yes, each book features a different couple. :)

Thanks for the input! I still haven't started it. I began Taylor Lee The Frenchman's Woman (The Grandmaster's Legacy) by Taylor Lee Then ought the The Frenchman's Revenge (The Grandmaster's Legacy) by Taylor Lee . I am about a third of the way into it. Then I am definitely going to start A Touch of Crimson (Renegade Angels, #1) by Sylvia Day !

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Sigh. I feel like I've missed so much conversation. You all are on at different hours from me, boo. I only get a chance to get on in the morning to check updates and then I have to leave again. :(

Anyway, I'll have to go back and read what everyone is up to.

I'm starting The Hallowed Ones by Laura Bickle because no one's ever put the Amish and vampires in book book together before and since I love all things Amish, I'm dying to see if I'll love Amish horror, lmao!

message 5024: by Kay (last edited Sep 24, 2012 02:37PM) (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Hi Stacia! *waving* It seems like I haven't chat with you for awhile now. Hope you're well.

Amish horror? Interesting! You'll have to let us know how that goes!

message 5025: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Sep 24, 2012 02:43PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm trying to push to get it finished before tomorrow because that's the pub date. So far, so good. :)

I know. I wasn't on much over the weekend other than brief moments of checking in because it was busy over here. Then I logged on today in front of the computer and have been busy...I'm just now getting to poke into my groups and see what's going on. It's overwhelming to miss stuff for more than a day or two because you come back to a lot of stuff/conversations that you missed out on!

How are you doing, Kay?

Btw...I can't believe I'm about to say this but I'm actually looking forward to BBQ season winding down. My husband has been obsessed with smoking meats. He's been doing it non-stop! I'm ready for a massive carb fest!

I've been good. Busy with the kids...nothing new. I've been in a reading rut for a couple of weeks now.

Funny how you mention about BBQ season. This summer my hubs has been experimenting a lot too! He finally has his BBQ sauce down & I must admit it tastes really good. I totally feel you though about the season winding down. I've had enough bbq ribs and chicken this summer LOL

I keep hearing people talke about this Harbor series and they love them. Hmmm! You didn't like the first book? I wonder if they get better?

message 5030: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments From what I hear, they say it does get better. I will probably get to book #2 one of these days but just not in the near future.

message 5031: by Leea (new)

Leea I missed so much today!! I know how you feel Stacia :)

D.G. Glad your husband is okay and that would have scared the crap out of me. I hope it's not fruit because that might be harder to avoid than shell fish. Keep us updated :)

Regina, That's so scary, I'm glad you're okay and it all worked out. My husband is allergic to penicillin and learned the hard way.

Kay and Stacia, oh all that BBQ sound so good. My husband has been slacking on grilling this season and we still have a lot of time left to our summer. Haha!

Met with my sons teacher today for Parent Teacher conference, it's always interesting to see your child through another eyes.

I'm reading and about 20% into At Peace (The 'Burg, #2) by Kristen Ashley . So far Joe has me pissed off... hope he can change that.

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I managed to finished reading The Silver Sword by Ian Serraillier by Ian Serraillier this morning. Now I'm reading The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks by Nicholas Sparks.

message 5036: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I will be starting At Peace (The 'Burg, #2) by Kristen Ashley for a buddy read.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Just finished The Hallowed Ones by Laura Bickle and REALLY liked this one. There better be a book 2. I will be crushed if it ends up being a standalone. It's too soon to tell since there's no info about a series with book 1 only just now releasing.

Starting Seven Years to Sin by Sylvia Day but am not sure if I'm in the mood for romance atm, so I might switch tomorrow if it doesn't grab me.

message 5038: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I read the summary for Seven Years to Sin and was so confused haha. So tell me how it goes, Stacia! It sounds interesting. And now I have to find a better summary...

message 5039: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Yeah....I guess it's just how it reads on the back of the book. The "she" and "her" get me confused for some reason. Is it just me? (in the second paragraph)

message 5040: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Courtney it isn't just you. :) That second paragraph needs work. But it is a steamy set up! The Hallowed Ones sounds very intriguing.

I am loving Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr I think maybe it should be required reading for dads of teenaged girls. I absolutely cannot stand the father in this book.

message 5041: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I just finished Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr and it was really good, 5 stars. Now I just have to decide what to read next!

message 5042: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Glad it wasn't just me!

And what a coincidence that I saw the exact same book, Seven Years to Sin, when I went to Barnes and Noble today on a table. I really want to read it now.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) So far it's actually not bad. I have sort of been in an adventure/horror/sci-fi type of mood, so I wasn't sure if I would want to read a romance but Seven Years was about to expire, so I decided to squeeze it in.

message 5044: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Can't wait to see what you think of it, Stacia!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Also going to start Ten by Gretchen McNeil because I'm curious to see how close it is to And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie which is an old favorite of mine.

I LOVE And Then There Were None. A brilliant story that I think was really first of its kind in regards to this type of mystery. But correct me if I'm wrong. Also that edition has a great cover.

message 5047: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I love the image on the cover of Ten. Very spooky -- I want to go!

I am starting Disappearing Nightly (Esther Diamond, #1) by Laura Resnick I love the author, she wrote Fallen from Grace by Laura Leone which I absolutely loved. But UF and I aren't getting along right now, so I'll see how long I can stick with it.

message 5048: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) The cover is great. I recently listened to a BBC radio production of Then There Were None. It was only about 2 hours long, but really well done.

Rachel the Book Harlot Leea wrote: "Thanks Rachel!! I appreciate you giving me all the information. Once i've read it we can chat more. :)

You're welcome! Looking forward to hearing what you think of it. :)

I finished The Other Soldier by Kathy Altman and it was just okay. I didn't like the heroine so the romance did not work for me. It's too bad because I loved the premise and really wanted to like it. I'm now reading Because of You (Coming Home, #1) by Jessica Scott by Jessica Scott.

message 5050: by Courtney (last edited Sep 26, 2012 04:08PM) (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Finished Mona Lisa Awakening (Monère Children of the Moon, #1) by Sunny . It was good for Amber. Nothing else. All 3 stars are for him xD

I have no idea what to read next.

I have a question for those who've continued the series of the Monere. Was there ever (view spoiler)
