Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Kay...the NH books showed more of his light heartedness but there were times we caught a glimpse of his tortured soul. I am fricking excited to read this book.

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments Marcella and Kay, the Jeaniene Frost books look good. Have you both read all her books? It looks like there are at least two different series, Cat books and the Night Huntress world books. I'm leaning toward starting with the Night Huntress world books, but would you both recommend the others first?

message 2903: by Kay (last edited Jun 27, 2012 03:40PM) (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks, Marcella. I couldn't remember since I read those books awhile back ago.

Kelly, the Night Huntress and the Night Huntress world have a timeline. So, I suggest you start with Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost first. I do like this series but some felt like the last few books have lost its spark. I still love Cat and Bones though. Oh and you may want to follow the timeline of the books here: http://www.goodreads.com/series/44283...

I have read the NH series and the NH World books. I loved them all. I agree with Kay. The last few books lost their spark but they are still worth the read.

You are welcome. I was actually surprised I remembered. Once I finish a book, it seems the details get lost in my mind.

message 2906: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Just finished City of Thieves by David Benioff Really enjoyed it.

There's a few of us who love Cat and Bones... Can I get a shout out for the beloved Chapter 32 *hot*

message 2908: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Here's my shout out Leea. That scene was H-O-T!!!

message 2909: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Chapter 32 is one of my fave pnr sex scenes ever! Vlad's Ch 23 is good too but no one can top Bones.

message 2910: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Another of my all time fave sex scenes is Vishous and Jane's bathroom scene.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Marcella wrote: "Another of my all time fave sex scenes is Vishous and Jane's bathroom scene."

oh yes! That's another good one too. *fanning self*

message 2912: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, great one, Marcella.

message 2913: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I think V and Jane is my #1 pick with Chapter 32 a very close 2nd.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) My favorite will always be the book 4 office scene in Georgina Kincaid. I have re-read that scene a few times! However, I do love chapter 32 very, very much and V and Jane's scene was also great! Then Kiyo and Eug in Dark Swan book 1 would be in there too somewhere.

Finished I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga and it was good, even though it was disturbing. Very CSI meets Silence of the Lambs.

Starting Storm (Elementals, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer (I refuse to use the cheesy boy band cover). Only one chapter in and it's already started off exciting. I think I'm really going to like this one.

message 2915: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Looks like I need to read the Georgia Kincaid series.

message 2916: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I'm now reading Horse Goddess by Morgan Llywelyn .

But I should really finish Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost now that you guys mention it...

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments Marcella and Kay, thank you. I'll look into Halfway to the Grave.

And how many books til I get to Chapter 23 and Chapter 32? ;)

message 2918: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I was going to say Eug and Kiyo balcony scene is probably my most favorite ever. Followed by V & Jane in the bathroom, then Georgina and Seth in the office, and last would be chapter 32.

Regina (reginar) Marcella wrote: "Another of my all time fave sex scenes is Vishous and Jane's bathroom scene."

Mine too!

message 2920: by Regina (new)

DG do these have a panel -- with volume adjustment on the cord? I think they don't from what I am seeing on Amazon ...

message 2922: by D.G. (new)

D.G. No, they don't. They are very basic.

message 2923: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I need to buy a suitcase and I'm trying to decide whether I should splurge and buy the one I want (Tumi) or just buy a cheaper alternative like Samsonite.

Decisions, decisions!

message 2924: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I always go someplace like Tuesday Morning or TJ Maxx or Filene's Basement to get the good ones on discount. :) I guess it depends on why you want a high end one?

message 2925: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Whatever I buy must be:
a) Lightweight
b) Colorful enough that it's distinctive from afar (since the issues with the liquids, I always have to check my bags)
c) Good quality (I don't want to have to buy a suitcase in a year)

I don't necessarily need a set (all my trips tend to be 1-2 weeks) so I can get by with one. And I travel enough that the bag will get enough use and I can afford a good one.

message 2926: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I would then just price match -- the high end ones v. the other ones ... and go from there. :D

message 2927: by Kelly ~ happily oblivious (last edited Jun 28, 2012 08:13AM) (new)

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments D.G., which has a better warranty? I'm really hard on my suitcases/bags and usually need to send them in for repairs. I'm not familiar with Tumi. My Samsonite DKX is ok for a year old. The first time I used it, one of the bolts on top popped out. Also, the material is worn from being tossed on the conveyors. This is my first Samsonite and I'd probably not get another. My last suitcase lasted me many years, it was a close out Skyway. (I was a poor grad student living on a stipend and couldn't afford anything too nice.) It looked awful and pretty much fell to pieces by the end. Ok, probably not much of a recommendation there either.

message 2928: by Kay (last edited Jun 28, 2012 08:21AM) (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Once Burned (Night Prince, #1) by Jeaniene Frost and it was good but lost a bit of its edge towards the last half of the book.

I'm thinking to start Chasing Magic (Downside Ghosts, #5) by Stacia Kane or The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2) by Richelle Mead next. Not sure yet.

message 2929: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Chasing Magic is so good Kay -- I wish I had more time to read right now!

I haven't started Bloodlines, so I can't compare them.

That is frustrating about Once Burned! Ugh -- why do PNR books do that? Is it the hookup -- once the hookup is accomplished, the story is pretty much complete -- even though it still continues?

Kelly -- great advice.

message 2930: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Thanks, Kelly. I'll look at the warranties and go from there. :)

I need to something sturdy too. I used to have a cheapo black one that lasted a long time but it was a nightmare to find with all the other million black bags out there. It was also really heavy and difficult to maneuver and it would fall down when I left it on its own.

message 2931: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina, you are so right...that's when I started losing interest after they hooked up. Plus, the action isn't gritty enough for me. I'm more of a UF type of girl and also I haven't been in a PNR mood lately.

The ratings for Chasing Magic and the Golden Lily have been good. i just need to decide if I want a YA or Chess & Terrible. Hmmm....as I typed that, I think I will read Chasing Magic. I just need to find out what happens between the 2 sides of Downside.

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments D.G. ~Captain Hussy~ wrote: "It was also really heavy and difficult to maneuver and it would fall down when I left it on its own."

That is my ultimate pet peeve about luggage. I hate that. Especially when I'm standing in line and it tips over and hits the person next to me. Makes me feel like such an ass. Plus, I got some great dirty looks for not controlling my luggage.

Always buy the one you want. You'll just regret it later and be thinking about that bag anyways. Well that's what happens to me. Mainly with purses.

message 2936: by Leea (new)

Leea I started Sunset Embrace (Coleman Family Saga #1) by Sandra Brown and i'm only a few chapters in. It's going to be a slow build and i have to say that I haven never read an author who details nursing a newborn so realistic. I'm really enjoying this book and it's a much needed break from what i've been reading lately.

Thanks Kay for suggesting it :)

message 2937: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) More accurate or detailed than Donati and Gabaldon?

Good point.

message 2939: by Leea (new)

Leea Maybe more detailed. Not that it's more accurate. The male character even describes watching Lydia nurse while her breasts are engorged (she birthed a baby that died the day before and this babies mother passed during childbirth). He describes the blue veins coming down to her nipple. Even the baby suckling and how he just found the nipple to nurse. I swear it gave me flashbacks to those days right after giving birth when you feel like you could feel a small country. haha!

message 2940: by Leea (new)

Leea Here is a quote from Sunset Embrace

"He must have been deprived of nourishment in the womb because he certainly hadn't gotten his fill since he was born. He suckled noisily, thumping her breast with his tiny fist and occasionally trashing his legs happily.

message 2941: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm so glad you're enjoying it, Leea. That story is slow but the things that happen are heartbreaking and happy too. Just remember that it's an 80s bodice ripper....so some things that happen are just not ok now but was ok to put in romance novels then.

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments I did something I haven't done in ages. I reserved some library books. My local library is so inconvenient for times, especially during the summer months, but I found the audio for Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward and the book for Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost . So I'll be trying new books and audio for the first time!

message 2943: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Fun Kelly! Just an FYI, I bought the audios for both and listened after I read -- but many fans of the Night Huntress series hate the audio version -- I liked it, but it is a mixed bag of some people loving it and others not. It was the heroes voice that bothered people.

BDB is such a great series! 1 is cheesy, so remember it gets better! I love the narrator of the BDB series.

message 2944: by Kelly ~ happily oblivious (last edited Jun 28, 2012 08:23PM) (new)

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments Regina, actually only Dark Lover is audio and Night Huntress is the book. Glad that I chose that way. Now I have to find the Immortals After Dark audios that D.G. recommended. Guess, I'm going on a PNR streak.

Oh, glad you said that. Now i'll be prepared. I don't think i've read an 80's bodice ripper before - yippee!

message 2946: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) I have loved the BDB books and was so excited to finally read Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward and then it turned out to be this enormous boring slog! So disappointing. I'm definitely going to read the Blay Qhuinn book but unless something happens to shake this series up, I'm done with it after that.

message 2947: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm so sorry you didn't like it! That's a bummer! We're all excited for Qhuinn and Blays book. Finally!

message 2948: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jun 28, 2012 11:40PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm really hoping that the Qhuay book will meet expectations. We've all been waiting so long.

Finished Motorcycle Man (Dream Man, #4) by Kristen Ashley and I'm taking a KA break for a while. She's just not clicking with me the way I'd hoped would eventually happen. I keep picking apart details as I'm reading and it takes me out of the story.

Still working on Storm (Elemental, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer and it's been a lot of fun! I hope it stays fun because I'm really enjoying it. The prequel was good though, so I'm hopeful.

Started The Kiss Off by Sarah Billington and the first couple of chapters feel like I'm reading a naughty book for tweens...not sure how this one's going to go. We'll see.

message 2949: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I have loved the last several BDB books -- there were some flaws, but I loved them and cannot wait for the next one. :D

Stacia I think that sounds like a good idea, if KA isn't for you, she isn't for you.

Kiss Off is an interesting cover!

I finished the Curse Workers series and really loved it. I loved the ending. I wish there could be more in this series, but I look forward to Holly Black's project with Cassandra Clare.

Thanks to DG I started the audio of And Then There Were None, I am listening to the BBC radio audio performance with multiple actors so it is really good -- it is short too. I think 3 hours only. I can't believe I never knew what the origin of "And then there were ...." was.

message 2950: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I've loved all the BDB books, lol. I had problems with Tohr's book, but the way I see it, I can't love EVERY book. Some of them I'll like less than others. it's the nature of the beast.
