Gwennie (blessedwannab) It sounded like a Plum book when I was reading the back. Super cute.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Happy Friday ladies!

I finished Rock Chick Rescue (Rock Chick, #2) by Kristen Ashley and now I am reading Bear Meets Girl (Pride, #7) by Shelly Laurenston .

message 2503: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Read Tempting the Marquess (Weston, #2) by Sara Lindsey Super charming!

message 2504: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I just started A Bad Day for Mercy A Crime Novel by Sophie Littlefield , which is released next week. It is better so far than the first 3 - -which I loved!

I am also really enjoying The Last Bastion of the Living A Futuristic Zombie Novel by Rhiannon Frater

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments Leea wrote: "Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley well, ROCKS! I laughed so hard at the first chapter. Oh. My. I had tears in my eyes. I'm devouri..."

I might have to give this one a try this weekend. I read two of KA's books that I really liked and another that may be a DNF for me.
I also read Heart On A Chain by Cindy C. Bennett which was very emotional. I'm thinking that going to something lighter might be nice.

message 2506: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kelly, which was the dnf? I had one that I dnfed, but I liked her writing style, so I would like to try another one. Maybe if we dnfed the same one, I can try the ones you liked. :)

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments It was Law Man. Although so many other people have liked it, so I keep attempting to try to get back into it. But I just don't like the heroine that much. Her stupidity is hard for me to get past.

Opps, only read one of her books all the way through. Although, I did really enjoy Sweet Dreams. Great plot, solid characters and a creepy, scary villain.

message 2508: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Okay, I dnfed #1 in that series (Colorado Man). Hmm, I may try Sweet Dreams.

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments I didn't read the first one, The Gamble, or the third one, Lady Luck. Neither one seemed like a good fit for me.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Kelly wrote: "I might have to give this one a try this weekend. I read two of KA's books that I really liked and another that may be a DNF for me. ..."

I'm still waiting to find one that I like. The two I read were just okay. I have two friends who seriously disliked Rock Chick book 1 (but liked some of the books in the rest of the series) so it sort of put me off from trying but maybe I'll look at it again if Leea likes it.

I have a read coming up with some other people (I didn't choose the book) of Mystery Man on Monday, so this might be the deciding factor of if I'll continue on with the author or not.

message 2511: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I may watch to see what you like. Did you read Sweet Dreams?

message 2512: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading The Client by John Grisham last night and now I'm reading Island of Lost Girls by Jennifer McMahon.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Kelly wrote: "I didn't read the first one, The Gamble, or the third one, Lady Luck. Neither one seemed like a good fit for me."

You didn't miss much with The Gamble. It was very long and had a lot of extra stuff going on that didn't relate to the main couple.

message 2514: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I thought Rock Chick #1 was just okay. I started reading the first couple chapters of Mystery Man a couple of days ago but I just wasn't into it (maybe b/c of my mood?). So many people love this author so I haven't given up on her yet. I just need to find the one to win me over.

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments Kay wrote: "I thought Rock Chick #1 was just okay. I started reading the first couple chapters of Mystery Man a couple of days ago but I just wasn't into it (maybe b/c of my mood?). So many people love this au..."

I too am surprised how many people adore her books and I've only found one that I could finish. I've looked at the others and I'm not sure I want to even attempt them yet. So I'll be interested to hear what Leea has to say about Rock Chick too. I looked at the blurb and am now reconsidering whether I want to start it.

message 2516: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Rick Chick aren't the greatest books but they are funny and entertaining enough to read, IMO.

message 2517: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jun 15, 2012 03:16PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Normally, I would have quit out on an author by now after reading a couple of books that failed to impress me but it's like this code I want to crack, trying to figure out why the author has such a fangirl following (although from what I can see, there's also a fair portion of people who don't like the author at all). I really hope the third book's the charm because if it's not, I don't know if I can keep trying something just to satisfy a curiousity. As of right now, I see her potential because she does come up with interesting characters but the writing is sloppy and the books drag or run on quite a bit.

It's funny that I ended up in her fan group because of a buddy read I was asked by a friend to join in on and that's where they'd put the discussion topic. I hope they don't think I'm a poser over there. I should probably leave the group before someone says, "hey wait, are you even a fan?" and I have to say...uh, don't know yet.

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments LOL Stacia, too funny. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Funny, wrong, who knows? :)

Ellie wrote: "I've finished reading The Client by John Grisham last night and now I'm reading Island of Lost Girls by Jennifer McMahon."

Let me know how Island of Lost Girls turns out. I'm going to be reading a book with a similar subject in the next couple of weeks.

Regina (reginar) NKOTB fans, edelweis has a Simon and Schuster novel about them called "5 brothers and millions of sisters"

message 2521: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) What?!?! Off to look that up!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Awww...that's so cute! It will be fun to see what Kay and Wendy have to say about it.

message 2524: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I bet it is on NG too!

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina wrote: "NKOTB fans, edelweis has a Simon and Schuster novel about them called "5 brothers and millions of sisters""

I've been waiting for this to come out!!! I submitted a photo and I'm hoping it made the cut. But since I didn't get an email to sign a photo release, I doubt I made it in there.

message 2526: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh how cool!!

message 2527: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina wrote: "New Kids on the Block: The Story of Five Brothers and a Million Sisters <---- this is it."

A tibit, the title is based off of Joe McIntyre's single which he wrote after the NKs reunited. If you get a chance, listen to it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJdpdf... I was at the concert in Santa Barbara the first time he sang it live...I almost cried! LOL

message 2528: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I can't wait for that!!! I'll be getting it right away!

message 2529: by Leea (new)

Leea Sorry, I was gone all day. I'm about 60% done with Rock Chick and I really like it. It's got some hilarious moments but some moments that just seem far fetched. The funny parts are so smart and well placed. You cannot help but want to be a 'Rock Chick' and hang out with Indy and Ally. Rock Chick reminds me of the Stephanie Plum books. Lee is less Alpha than KA's other male leads, don't get me wrong he's bad ass.

I really have enjoyed Kristen Ashley's books. Having said that we all can't like the same authors. I think she write simple moments so well and her characters to me are relatable. This book has a different writing style than her others.

Stacia, I'm glad you're in that group. :)

Sweet dreams was my favorite of the Colorado Mountain series. I loved Myster Man. I hope you enjoy it!

message 2530: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Finished Silence in the Mist by Leah Marie Brown and really liked it. A quick read but very enjoyable. I love spy books! Especially when enemies turn into lovers!

Next is....maybe The Shadow Reader (McKenzie Lewis, #1) by Sandy Williams .

message 2531: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Man, I can't stop thinking about the narration about the IAD book! I think I'll have to read the following book for the bingo game.

Thank God that's the last audio available, LOL!

message 2532: by D.G. (new)

D.G. My husband and I are planning a trip to Europe in August. Our idea was to go to Dublin & Lisbon but I'm not sure it's going to be possible to do both. The flights are so freaking expensive, specially Lisbon which doesn't have a direct flight to JFK. Now I can tell why the country is not doing so well (they don't have direct flights from a lot other direct cities in Europe either.)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments oooh, how exciting D.G. have u been to Ireland before? or anywhere else in Europe?

message 2534: by D.G. (new)

D.G. No, I haven't been to Ireland. But I've been to 4 other countries in Europe. :)

message 2535: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I am so jealous D.G. I have been dying to go to Ireland for a very long time. I even looked into going on this group trip where the itinerary is all planned for you and on the last day of the trip there is a huge Renaissance themed party. But it cost $5,000. Not gonna happen.

message 2536: by Leea (new)

Leea D.G, how fun! Jim and I hope to be able to do something next year for our anniversary. I said something to my husband and my youngest was upset. "Aww, mama I want to go with you." UGH!!

It's going to be 106 here today - HOT! I'm taking the boys to the movies haha!

Yes, that's a little expensive. :p

Right now the plane tickets for the trip we wanted are around $1500 each, which is at least $400 more than I thought. Tickets to most of Europe in August (which is the high season) are around $900-1000 per person but this is a little too high. I don't know that I want to pay almost $1000 extra in plane tickets alone. And Lisbon is the one causing the problems. Round trip to Dublin is around $900 which is within the budget.

And because I've never planned a trip there, I don't know if this is the norm or on the high side.

message 2539: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments The trip I was planning included hotel, flight, entrances to different museums and such we were gonna visit and the big party at the end of the trip. I think its a good deal because it takes you to all the must see places in Irealnd. If I went on my own I think I wouldn't get the full effect because I wouldn't know where to go.

I've also wanted go to Australia to visit my family but the ticket is like $1200.

message 2540: by D.G. (new)

D.G. We usually just go on our own but then my husband always know the places to visit and he can read a map like you wouldn't a believe (a skill that escapes me.)

message 2541: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Love the name DG....you Captain Hussy!!! LOL

I finished Gio (5th Street, #2) by Elizabeth Reyes and I did enjoy it. I can't wait to hear Stacia's thoughts when she is done. I also look forward to reading this author's other series.

Now, I'm back to reading Out of Control (Troubleshooters, #4) by Suzanne Brockmann . I hope to finish this one up by tomorrow.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Well I have no sense of direction and that's why I was gonna do the group thing. Lol! Well whatever you decide to do I hope you have an awesome time.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2) by Richelle Mead and loved the direction that the story is going in. Poor Eddie. I really want to cuddle him.

Almost finished with Gio (5th Street, #2) by Elizabeth Reyes and I'm liking it but the situation of how the people got to where they are could be off-putting to some.

D.G. Kay wrote: "Love the name DG....you Captain Hussy!!! LOL"

LOL, Kay. I'm the captain of my team in the Bingo name, that's why I changed it. :)

Started Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #3) by Kresley Cole and I came back to The Sleeping Night by Barbara Samuel . I'm really scared of the end.

message 2546: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Shell how do you feel about shifters? If you like shifters, I highly recommend the Halle Puma series by Dana Marie Bell. Must reads and I wasn't able to put them down.

message 2550: by Leea (new)

Leea I can't wait to read your review for both of those Stacia :)

Kay, I can't wait for you to read Out of Control and then Into the Night with me and Wendy. I might start Into the Night tonight because I wont have a moment to read tomorrow until 9pm.

Wendy we still good to start #5 troubleshooter books? Please, oh, please say yes ;) I just can't wait to read Sam and Alyssa's book!

I finished Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley and I loved it! I laughed more reading that book, it was beyond funny. I highlighted so much, my review is going to be crazy (off to write it now :). Was it the best writing - No! But it made me laugh, it was sexy as hell and the female connections were perfect. It even made me cry.
