Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) Started The Last Renegade by Jo Goodman

message 6602: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Finished Wallbanger by Alice Clayton Funny sexy, exactly what I was looking to read!

message 6603: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I love that cover. ;)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm struggling to get through The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski , so I put it away for a minute and started a horror series which has come highly recommended Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle

message 6605: by Leea (new)

Leea I wanted to read The Edge of Never, I kept hearing it was good. Sorry you're not enjoying it.

I finished Fighting to Survive and it was so good. Solid story, amazing cast and non stop action.

Now I want to jump into Siege, it's one of those $9.99 books - Yikes! I may have to break down and buy it. lol!

message 6606: by Zelda (new)

Zelda | 5 comments I just started The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley. Highly recommended by a friend who reads and writes historical romance.

Finished The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski and I liked it okay but didn't love it. This is a book that everyone seemed to love but me. The story was beautiful and emotional at the end, so I'd still rec it for hardcore fans of emotional romances, but it wasn't one that I personally loved because of the slow build and a few strange inconsistencies.

message 6608: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Stacia, I didn't love it either.

I finished reading Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi and Roar and Liv (Under the Never Sky, #0.5) by Veronica Rossi . I really enjoyed it so I started Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2) by Veronica Rossi .

message 6609: by Leea (new)

Leea I cannot wait to read those... Are they on the lighter side? After reading 3 zombie books, wait... 4 Zombie books in a row i'm going to need something lighter.

Hope you both are having a great weekend :)

message 6610: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments It seems somewhat light to me...at least the first book did. I'm thinking there will be more angst in book 2.

We had a busy Saturday...3 birthday parties and one horrible melt down. I'm just glad the day is over. I hope you're having a good weekend too, Leea.

message 6611: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Saturdays can be tough! I am hoping your Sunday goes smoother. We were supposed to go to American Girl today, but my first grader woke up with a horrible cold. The flu is really bad in Chicago right now so I am panicking that it may be the flu.

I finished the audio of Then Came You (Gamblers, #1) by Lisa Kleypas I enjoyed it but wonder how they will tell society about (view spoiler)

I am continuing on in the series and listening to Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas

It was the angst for me. I'm a sucker for angst. (view spoiler)

Yes, highlanders are quite high on my list as well. LOL

message 6617: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Brewer | 4 comments I just finished Water for Elephants, which I loved. Looking forward to starting something new--but not really sure which direction I want to go in. Beautiful Creatures or The Last Song are high up on the list!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Unless you have to read a book before seeing a movie, I'd almost say to skip BC and just watch the movie instead. It's very long and slow in parts. The highlight is the mood and setting, which I think will translate well to film.

Kay, who are you a bigger fan of? Roar or Perry? I'm happy that you're enjoying the series. It's a lot of fun.

Okay, once I finish off Bow Street Runners, this might be my next Kleypas series.

message 6620: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Brewer | 4 comments Thanks for the recommendation, Stacia! I'm only a few pages in and I'm kind of seeing that. And in addition to not really being sure I want to jump into a new series...maybe I'll put Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia on hold. Has anyone heard anything about Hopeless by Colleen Hoover ?

I just finished Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2) by Veronica Rossi . I loved it. My mind is reeling with all the stuff that happened. Now, how long is the wait until book 3 comes out?

I'm a fan of both Roar and Perry...I just can't choose. I just love them both for different reasons.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Same here. :)

I don't know when book 3 comes out. I'm assuming anywhere from 6 months to a year.

I don't believe that (view spoiler)

Started Star Crossed (Battered Hearts, #2) by Kele Moon last night thinking I'd have time to read today, which didn't happen, so now I'm partway into two books with one I'm supposed to start tomorrow. I hate when I do that without thinking about what I'm doing.

message 6623: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I just requested the first one by Rossi in audio from the library. I am excited to start it! I also just got the audio of Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion (funny how the cover is different).

I am enjoying the Gamblers series. I'd love people's thoughts on the realistic ability of Lily to (view spoiler). I do know based on some reading of this time period, that while there were ideals that existed most people operated outside of those ideals. I am just not sure how far a Countess could bend those ideals.

message 6624: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Wendy, I saw you liked Flesh and Bone (Benny Imura, #3) by Jonathan Maberry ended up dnfing it (she loved the first two). Is it slow in the beginning and does it pick up? Or I wonder maybe it is just her mood. Her favorite character (view spoiler) may affect her enjoyment of #3.

message 6625: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Mmmm, well let me just say that (view spoiler). I won't tell you how, but it's still there.

It was a little slow in the beginning, and new characters are introduced. But as the story goes on it got better. The badguy, Saint John, was pretty creepy.

(view spoiler) was definitely my favorite too. And I still hold out hope that we haven't seen the end of that, lmao. It's probably a long shot, but I'll think that until the end of the next book (which is the last book).

I liked that one. It's a simple story that is super enjoyable and stays smart despite its simplicity

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Stacia...about Through the Ever Night (view spoiler)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm thinking she has to be. If not, then he'll need (view spoiler)

I have the feeling that I'll probably re-read the first two books before book 3 is out because I might have missed out on some details as I was embarrassingly swooning over Perry and Roar.

Interesting take on Soren, btw. I may have to (view spoiler)

I also loved Down on a distant shore, it's an amazing series, one of my favorites. Enjoy!

message 6632: by Leea (new)

Leea Finished As the World Dies, Trilogy Siege - I loved this series, it's a must read for zombie fans :) Now off to write my review.

message 6633: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I second that. We read it together. It was so good, crazy intense!

message 6634: by Leea (new)

Leea I had a blast reading this with Wendy, I mean we were so in sink and got to chat the whole time. Can't wait to read our next book :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Nice to hear that it ends well. I hadn't had a chance to finish it because I didn't get my copy yet, but it's good to know that the last book didn't suck. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished up Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle and it wasn't bad for a first in a series book. There were a few rough patches at the start with the writing but the second half made up for it. I'm a big fan of Dex and Perry already. They're both very offbeat, snarky, and flawed, which I can appreciate. No perfect characters in sight. There wasn't as much horror as I'd been expecting, but I think that it might get spookier as the series continues. I hear that each book gets better and better, so I'm hopeful.

message 6637: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm reading The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling and The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker

message 6638: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Did a quick re-read of A Week to Be Wicked (Spindle Cove, #2) by Tessa Dare while waiting for some other books to come in. While I still enjoyed it immensely, I was struck by how the protagonist's name is Minerva with a sister called Diana. Which is the same as the Jennifer Crusie book Bet Me (which I think is the best contemporary romcom out there). Also, in JC's book, the hero is Cal and here he is Colin. I wondered if Tessa Dare had read the book because this very much was that same witty, sexy vibe even though its HR. And if so, homage or imitation?

I think it's what I'm going to read next.

message 6641: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Love Backstage Pass! It's one of my favorites!

Just finished A Trail of Fire - especially loved the newest story, "The Space Between". Trying to finish up the Rising Star Chef series now...

Then? So many books to chose from!

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments finished Seduction of a Highland Lass (McCabe Trilogy, #2) by Maya Banks and Bee Among The Clover by Fae Sutherland which were both just great novels. i'm continuing with author Fae Sutherland and starting the sequel to Bee Among the Clover: Lotus in the Wild by Fae Sutherland

I liked the Battered Hearts series Stacia! Enjoy!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) A few of my friends didn't like the first book for some reason, so I skipped ahead to book 2, since everyone seemed to enjoy that one.

I read two books close together which had main characters of Olivia and Caleb. That was strange. The Opportunist (Love Me With Lies, #1) by Tarryn Fisher Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #1) by C.J. Roberts

message 6645: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I just finished reading The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty by William Peter Blatty. The Exorcist is an engrossing, gripping, disturbing and well-written supernatural tale. I really enjoyed this novel. I thought the author's writing style was excellent. I found it very hard to put this book down for long. I just had to know what happened next even though I've seen the movie half a dozen times! It didn't frighten me to death but it did scare me a good bit! Even though the book is over forty years old, except for a bit of seventies slang here and there, it really isn't dated at all. The Exorcist is one of the best horror novels that I've read in a long time. Even if you've already seen the movie a hundred times I'd recommend reading the novel as it's a lot better than the movie!
My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Now I'm about to start Defending Jacob by William Landay by William Landay.

Zelda, I LOVE The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley !!! Hope you do, too!

I just finished the Rising Star Chef series by Louisa Edwards. Fun and a bit steamy. If you're into The Food Network or The Cooking Channel or any of the chef competition shows, you'll like this series.

On to a Regency romance...
