However, I would be interested to see other readers' perspectives on what certain characters/parts of the circus/scenes in the story looked like. In this respect, a movie would be quite interesting!

Okay, I have to admit that would be cool!

At the same time, I wish to be able to visually see the entire circus and the beautiful ball rooms and gowns. XD

I don't know much about movies, actors, directors etc. But I do like Tim Burton movies and I think he'll do a good job on this.

It would be one of the few movies that would have a purpose for being shot in 3D.

I couldn't agree with you more. Considering how far cinematography has come in the last decade plus, it would be absolutely mesmerizing to see what Hollywood would conjure up!

I didn't get a Tim Burton vibe when I read it, but that is actually an interesting idea.

Oddly enough, I would think Burton would take this too far into his world and it might ruin it. Don't get me wrong, he is fabulous, but a bit too stylized for this. This book needs a softer touch. Perhaps Martin Socrsese he did a good job on Hugo, never read the book, but LOVED the movie. Or Peter Ramsey, he did Rise of the Guardians, it'll have to feel more velvety that that, but he might do.

Perhaps if the movie were only loosely based on the book, kept the tone and the visual elements it might be just fine. Of course the fact that it is only loosely based would have to be made absolutely clear, maybe even with a different title and the book's name as a subtitle?

Agree, this movie should be beatiful and imaginative, but not creepy

Great idea! I would love to see what Tim Burton would do with Night Circus.

Oh, I don't know about there not being enough plot for a movie, there's lots of them being made that solely live off style over substance, compared to which The Night Circus might offer still too much story. :D
I fear rather that the underlying story will not be presented as subtly as it is done in the book

Shawn wrote: I think with the right director, like Tim Burton, the book would come to life. It has all the makings for the macabre he is so brilliant at.
