What are you currently reading?
oh yeah that happens to me too Aerykah. I get into a reading habit of reading certain genres and every now and then I just need a break and need to read something completely different.
Yesterday I finished reading
by Kate Alcott. I really enjoyed this novel. It was very hard to put it down. I loved all the historical details about the Titanic and its survivors. I liked this unique take on the Titanic disaster. Not many books about the Titanic sinking feature the aftermath of it and how survivors try to deal with what happened and move on. I gave it 4 stars! I'm also about to finish
by Janet Evanovich and make a start on
by William Peter Blatty.
Alice - I'm about halfway through Daughter of Venice
, it reads well. The story is engaging and interesting. It's deeper than I was expecting (in a good way), there is so much there - politics, religion, social issues etc.
I've not read all of Napoli's books, but they can be pretty deep I've found. Or at least deeper than they appear to be at first.

Alice - I finished this book this morning. I think you would enjoy it. It's quite good. A really great story.

I loved them.I just finished the prequel
and it was amazing. If you liked the others I recommend it.What did you think of the Nightshade series?I looked at your ratings but you didn't rate them.
reading Emerald and LOVING It’s (Not That) Complicated: How to Relate to Guys in a Healthy, Sane, and Biblical Way =D
Steph wrote: "I just started The Night Circus - it looked interesting and a different kind of book than what I had been into so a refreshing switch up
"Really enjoyed The Night Circus!
I started reading A Hundred Flowers
but I'm not sure yet if I'll be sticking with it. It's kind of slow, but we'll see.

"I really enjoyed that book. It wasn't what I expected, but it was nonetheless a great story.
I'm reading Faithful Place by Tana French. It's my first encounter with her, and wow! Is it good, both as a mystery and as a well-crafted mainstream/literary novel. Great descriptions of places and neighborhood rhythms. Faithful Place
I just finished reading
by William Peter Blatty. The Exorcist is an engrossing, gripping, disturbing and well-written supernatural tale. I really enjoyed this novel. I thought the author's writing style was excellent. I found it very hard to put this book down for long. I just had to know what happened next even though I've seen the movie half a dozen times! It didn't frighten me to death but it did scare me a good bit! Even though the book is over forty years old, except for a bit of seventies slang here and there, it really isn't dated at all. The Exorcist is one of the best horror novels that I've read in a long time. Even if you've already seen the movie a hundred times I'd recommend reading the novel as it's a lot better than the movie! My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Now I'm about to start
by William Landay.
Nope, decided not to stick with A Hundred Flowers. So I'll be starting The Virgin's Lover
by Philippa Gregory
Ooo, Kim, I really want to read Seraphina, it sounds so good!I'm reading A Red Herring Without Mustard. I love this series, they are such fun mysteries. :)
I've just finished
by William Landay. Defending Jacob is a well-written, disturbing and gripping crime thriller with plenty of twists and turns throughout the novel to keep you interested. I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the very beginning to the end. The reader is kept guessing as to whether Jacob is innocent or guilty until the very end of the novel. Throughout the trial I kept changing my mind about whether Jacob was guilty or not. I thought this was a excellent read so I’m giving it a well-deserved five stars!http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Now I'm about to start
by Jamie Ford.

Beth, it's very good so far and my middle daughter loved it as well.

Caro wrote: "thanx! looked more interesting then the former JAs that i still loved (other then emma i hated emma)"Emma is my least favorite also.A lot of people really love it but I just couldn't get over how snobbish Emma was.Northanger Abbey is one of her funniest.

I know! Can't wait for the second.
It seems that people either love or hate Emma... Anyway! Enjoy Northanger Abbey! It is different from her other novels and I really like it :)
I've noticed that too. I didn't like it at first because the character Emma was so snobby, but that was kind of the point of the story, at least to me. She was snobby but then she changed. I loved it in the end :)
Nicole, Seraphina
is really, really good! I finished it last night. It's beautifully written, deep and I want to say complex but it's not really it's intelligent though, maybe that's the word I'm thinking of, or maybe even multi-faceted. It's a beautiful story of self acceptance and acceptance of others as well, it has everything - love, war, politics, religion, but it's all done very tastefully and not critically.
It is also one of the most unique portrayals of dragons I've read so far.

I think my problem is that I just got overwhelmed with so many new books to read (due to Christmas & my library holds coming in) many of which are westerns. I think I just need to take a bit of a break from the westerns & read something a little more modern. :P
