I truly enjoyed this story more than any other I've read by Turansky. Something about the opening chapter drew me in, and I didn't want to put it down. Maggie and Violet are such wonderful characters and well developed.

This was a beautifully written historical with Maggie's story being my favorite. I love following characters that are among the normal citizenry. The story is a difficult one, but a sweet and loving coming of age story with a bit of mystery/suspense as well.

I had the honor of reading this novel before it was released in order to possibly endorse it... And it was quite worth the read! Here's the endorsement you'll find in the book once it's published!

"Lovers of English drama set during any era will certainly enjoy Carrie Turansky's latest novel! With a mix of themes from both Downton Abbey and North & South, Shine Like the Dawn will intrigue and enthrall readers until the very last page!" --Dawn Crandall, award winning author of The Hesitant He

In "Shine Like the Dawn," Turansky brilliantly transports readers to a picturesque village in early 1900's Edwardian England. From the start, readers are immediately pulled into the plight of Maggie Lounsbury as they witness--through her eyes--a horrific tragedy that will forever change the young heroine's life. Filled with empathy after seeing such pain and loss, Turansky's audience will easily connect with Maggie and quickly come alongside to cheer her on as she tries to rise above the ashes o ...more

So, I'm about halfway through this book, and need to tell you how amazing it is! I have been missing Downton Abbey, and this author does such a great job of filling the void! The mystery is great, I adore this set of characters, and I love how the author is able to combine the upstairs, downstairs and village life all in one book! Can't wait to see how this one ends!

**Update** wow! if there is one thing this author is fantastic at, it's character development! I loved this book, and enjoyed the n

From the very first words introducing us to Maggie Lounsbury and her family and the tragedy that takes her family from her, until the very last words full of hope and promise, this story will draw you in and not let you go. I hard a time not finishing the book in one sitting.

The author does a wonderful job researching for her novels and in Shine Like the Dawn she brings to her readers life in Edwardian England during the Industrial Age. We are given a glimpse of not only the life of the privileg
Carrie Turansky's Shine Like the Dawn spoke to my heart. Maggie Lounsbury loses both parents and sister in a tragic boating accident. Four years later, we find her and her younger sister living with her grandmother. Maggie has not reconciled her heart to this tragic lost, her relationship with God is distant. The return of a treasured friend finds her questioning his loyalty and trustworthiness since he was not there to comfort her after the accident. But was it an accident or intentional?

Shine Like the Dawn by Carrie Turansky, is a compelling early 20th-century romance. Maggie, orphaned and trying to make a life for her young sister, Violet, and her grandmother, struggles to let go of the tragedy that took her parents. Was it really just an accident as was originally thought or was there something more sinister at work in their deaths. Childhood friend, Naval veteran, and heir to a vast estate, Nathaniel, returns to Morningside Manor and immediately finds himself face to face wi ...more

Carrie Turansky has a new book published entitled Shine Like the Dawn. It is written in true Carrie fashion with lots of details about life in England at the turn of the century. Tragedy strikes Maggie Lounsbury's family when she is just 17 years old. Everything that had been certain in her past is no longer certain for her future. She thought Nathaniel Harcourt was her friend, but he can't be bothered to be there in her most desperate time of need.

I have read most of Carrie Turansky’s books and I find this one to be one of the very best! From the minute I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down. The opening chapter really pulls you in when a tragedy happens to Maggie Lounsbury and she is left to take care of her younger sister. They are sent to live with their grandmother and Maggie helps her grandmother in her millinery shop. There is suspense throughout as Maggie starts to wonder if the ‘accident’ that killed her parents and o ...more

AMAZING is the first word I thought of upon completion of Shine Like The Dawn. This book draws you in from the first chapter and is hard to put down. Character development and a wonderfully written story that sparks the imagination make you picture the Era in your mind. This novel has it all, romance, mystery, tragedy, Faith, and characters you love. Violet who is Maggie's little sister adds an endearing quality to the book. Forgiveness, mercy, putting the past behind, trust, and friendship are ...more

A devastating tragedy occurs on a family trip and Maggie's life is forever changed. She misses her family members, but, she must go on with her life and protect her sister Violet. There is controversy as to what happened that fateful day. Who is to blame? Judgement and distrust cause friendships and perhaps, love, to be put aside until the truth can finally be told. The author gives twists and turns that kept me reading and not wanting to put the book down. This story shows how trust and love ca ...more

Maggie had an idyllic life... until the day a tragic accident occurred and changed everything.

Carrie Turansky did a masterful job of creating Edwardian Northumberland. From the very first pages, I was drawn into Maggie, Nate, and Lilly's world and instantly engaged in their stories. And of course, every page that included an appearance by Violet was an absolute joy to read!

I really enjoyed this story and can't wait for future books in the series! I highly recommend Shine Like the Dawn!

I have read many books by this author and I feel this is one of her best stories. The author takes us on a journey through a story of forgiveness and learning to trust again. It opens with Maggie facing a tragedy. Through the story she must learn to forgive those who have hurt her. She also learns through her Grandmother that her trust needs to be placed in Jesus.
I received a copy of the book from the author and this is my opinion of the book.

From the first compelling page to the last heart-lifting moment, Shine Like the Dawn drew me in, made me smile, then cry—all while keeping me on the edge of my seat. Turansky’s latest historical romance, rich in mystery and intrigue, brings to life warm and memorable characters nestled between an Edwardian English village and its local grand estate. Uplifting, and highly recommended.

Margaret “Maggie” Lounsbury’s life changes in the blink of an eye, and she is left to care for her younger sister. Rejected by various relatives, she ends up living and working with her elderly grandmother. The incident leaves her bitter and mistrusting of God and others. Shine Like the Dawn uses realistic dialogue and well-researched description to effectively evoke Edwardian England. Unfamiliar with the time period, I learned quite a bit about the developing technology of the early 1900s and i ...more

Four years have passed since Maggie Lounsbury lost three members of her family in a tragic boating accident; constant sadness still shrouds her slender shoulders as she struggles to support her younger sister and elderly grandmother. When their only source of livelihood is threatened, Maggie's unlikely rescuer is a face from her past, one that she remembers both fondly and bitterly, since Nathaniel Harcourt and his entire family turned their backs on the Lounsburys during their time of greatest ...more
