What are you currently reading?
I agree. It was well-written, but like you, I didn't particularly enjoy it.I've never read Dr. J & Mr. H. Not sure if I ever would.
I loved Dracula! I couldn't get into Frankenstein but my middle daughter liked it (didn't love it but she did like it). After I finished my last book yesterday I started The Inside Story
by Michael Buckley and I finished it today. Now I'm reading the 9th and final book in that same series (The Sisters Grimm) The Council of Mirrors

oh Carol - let me know how you like that please. I read Mrs. Dalloway last year and I watched "The Hours" (movie) which I loved. There are times when I can really relate to Ms. Woolf. (I had tried reading the book The Hours but couldn't get into it- I may give it another go, but I'm not sure).
I'm currently reading
Unending Devotion by Jody Hedlund
The Anonymous Bride by Vickie McDonoughAnd re-reading
Short-Straw Bride by Karen Witemeyer

Cari, I absolutely love The Book Thief. One of my favorite books ever. I have only read excerpts of Night. It seems like one of those books that you have to brace yourself to read, but I definitely want to read it.
I loved the book "Night" (if you can "love" that type of book). It was a really great memoir from such an amazing man.I finished the other book I was reading (Council of Mirrors) and then read I Heart New York
by Lindsey Kelk. It was very good and I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series when I get it. In the meantime I am now reading The Thirteenth Princess
by Diane Zahler
I just Finished It Had to be You
byLinda Windsor. It was a really good book. Normally I like historical fiction, but I absolutely loved this book. The characters are great! I am just starting Paper Moon
by the same author.
I've finished reading
by Liane Moriarty. I really loved this novel! The plot was very intriguing, compelling and well-written with an interesting and unique premise. I loved the author's writing style. The story was very funny and some parts were quite touching and made me want to cry. The characters were all well-developed, vivid and believable. I found it easy to relate to Alice and the other characters. I was unable to put this book down for long. I was desperate to find out what was going to happen next! I gave it 5 stars! Now I'm about to start
by Kate Alcott.

Beth, I just finished it and it's a really, really lovely classic fairytale. I've just added the author's other fairytale books to my wishlist :-)
Doesn't she have one about a swan princess or something of that nature? Glad to hear that it was good. I love classic fairytales :)
Beth wrote: "Doesn't she have one about a swan princess or something of that nature? Glad to hear that it was good. I love classic fairytales :)"Yes, it's her newest one I think, Princess of the Wild Swans
She takes classic fairytales and then retells them with a bit of a twist, or added character.I'm now reading Dragonfriend
by Roger Escbacher
That's the one I was thinking about! Aw, it looks so good. I love fairytales & re-tellings. One of my favorites growing up was Beauty by Robin McKinley, and more recently, Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier

Just abut to start Falling for Mr Darcy! Excited for my first P&P sequel - taking the plunge into the work of sequels!
I just finished The Preachers Bride
by Jody Hedlund. And now I am reading The Doctor's Lady by the same author.
I've recently finished these books
They were all enjoyable reads (esp. the 2 by Mary Connealy!)
I'm now reading
which is going a bit slow so far... :/
Alice wrote: "my sister read those. :)They are really good. In my opinion the perfect pace, and a good story.
Especially Books which have slow beginnings, but you stick with it and then it gets really really good - you wonder, why the slow beginning!?
Or even worse slow beginnings followed by equally slow middles and ends...
Or even worse slow beginnings followed by equally slow middles and ends...
I hate slow beginnings too - it's why I don't always finish a book. I usually know within the first 40 pages if I'm going to like/continue with a book. I decided a few years ago that for me there are far too many books out there to read to force myself to read something I'm not enjoying, that life is too short to do so and that there are enough things in life that we "have" to do that making myself read a book that I'm not enjoying or getting anything out of shouldn't be something I worry about - so I set it aside or pass it on to someone else who may enjoy it and don't look back :-)

hahaha no, not thrilled; but I can't start a book and not finish it (unless its BAD but I try and not pick those out in the first place ;)) so I read it all. I had a study going with it that I had to write things in the "slots" though so it kept me going waiting for the "next thing" to do. ;P I did not like Frankenstein although it was very well written; I liked the style of writing. But I didn't mind Jekyll/Hyde; that one was more like a life analogy to me whereas Frankenstein was obvs steered towards being a horrow/suspense story....quite morbid, really. But yes- I found Jekyll/Hyde interesting and liked the bit of British humor in the beginning. I liked Utterson and Poole, the butler. :) however I would not care to re-read either. ;) right now for school I'm reading the Deadliest Monster; which applies life lessons and things to the two books. pretty interesting. :)
