Taylor 7th grade, and read the sequel in eighth!

message 403: by A.M. (new) - rated it 5 stars

A.M. Torres I first read this when I was fourteen. This book inspired me to write. I love the characters of Ponyboy, Johnny and Dallas. Sodapop and Darry were fascinating too. I highly recommend this book especially for young people. I am amazed that S.E Hinton wrote this at only 16. A.M Torres Love Child

Viktorija I think I read thins in 8th grade and I swear I was the only one who loved it! I don't know what drew me to it since stories about gangs have never been my thing, but its still one of my favorites (:

Everyone else thought it was boring and wouldn't stop whining about how 'boring' it was. Their loss.

message 405: by Alyssa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Alyssa Gunn i read it this year in 8th grade it was the saddest book and movie ever some of the guys on the movie are really hot and buff

message 406: by Ranya (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ranya I read it in Seventh Grade

message 407: by Amy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Amy I read it in 7th Grade and I'm glad I did, it was great :)

message 408: by Megan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Megan Lemasters I read it for summer reading 6th through 7th grade. I absolutely fell in love! Stay gold

message 409: by Cindy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cindy I didn't have to read it for school. I read it when the movie came out. I must have been about 11. I read it two and a half times in one weekend!! That was a lot for me back then. That's how I knew how much I loved it!!!! :)

message 410: by Sandy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sandy Hearn I read it in the mid 70s for school, also read 3 other books by the same author, I can still rember the opening line, one the most memorable of any of 100s of books I have read. It was, soemthing like, 'As I stepped out into the bright sunlight...' Really liked the book.

message 411: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma James I read it in 8th.... I love you Johnny... :)

message 412: by Jania (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jania Smith this book was so interesting, i loved Pony and johnny
i hated the movie .-.

message 413: by Lorene (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lorene Not only did I read it back in high school, I read it to my class every year! I love this book and so do my students! Sometimes they beg for a re-read! I allow my kiddos to watch the movie after reading the book and they are ALWAYS disappointed. The actors do NOT fit the descriptions of the characters. After reading the book and watching the movie, they understand why I tell them the book is almost always better than the movie!

message 414: by Nini (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nini I did in year 8 (grade 7 or 8, I think) and we saw the movie. I was about to cry in class when we read the part where Johnny cried. I got to understand the concept of the poem in the story though. Love this book <3

message 415: by Hayley (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hayley read it for grade 8 but I loved it

Ashley (Persephone the queen) I read this book for my class when I was in 6th grade

message 421: by Hunter (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hunter Johnson The Movie let me tell you was a splendid movie

message 422: by Z (new)

Z I'm currently in 8th grade and my lit class is reading it. I was so sucked in, however, that I finished the book about a week ago (some pun intended)

Sabrina I originally read and finished the Outsiders before I even knew I had to read it in eighth grade lol, I think I was in seventh when I discovered it. When I heard we were reading it in eighth grade, I was so excited because I had really loved the book and wanted to see if my classmates enjoyed it. But yeah, I reread it during that year and I still liked it as much as I did a year ago!

Jessica I read The Outsiders in seventh grade and it became one of my favorite books. I love the movie as well, but I am glad I read the book first.

MavericktheMadDawg MavericktheMadDawg First read it in high school and since then ive read almost once every year!

message 430: by Terra (new) - rated it 5 stars

Terra Yeah we read it in middle school. It's my favorite book. After we finished reading it we watched the movie & then I went out & bought both the book & movie

message 431: by Tammy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Tammy I picked this up of my own free will. As a kid I was completely obsessed with the film so I have always wanted to read the book.

Brianna In sixth grade my teacher sorted us into groups that read different books. My group didn't end up getting The Outsiders, but the group that got The Outsiders loved it so much and talked about all the time that I bought it myself even though it wasn't required for me. Then I fell in love with it and watched the movie every day when I came home from school. Still love that movie :))

message 433: by JAnn (new) - rated it 5 stars

JAnn Bowers I read this book for school back in the early 80's and still my favorite.
