Gillian oh... still poor Dally...... I honestly would never date a guy like him.

message 211: by Ferii (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ferii I read it for school, it's about 200/300 pages but it took longer to read in class because we were practically analysing the whole book.

Gillian I dont really like reading books for school, cause the might be boring! But the outsiders was not!

message 213: by Sarah (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sarah Rabbon Hahaha I read this in 6th grade from the librabry for fun; and then the next year we had to read it in 7th grade and then I moved to California and they had to read it in 8th grade. I was kind of confused to why 8th graders were reading such a simple book! I mean... I was in honors!!! I have now seen that movie twice against my will! I looooove this book... but it's kind of boring the third time. :/ haha

I have read all of them as well. Love them all but Outsiders is my favorite. I read them as recreation as well in the late 80's. I think it is very intresting and cool that we both read these book at differnt time but enjoyed them so much. ( I was even born yet in 1972. lol)

message 237: by Emilyx (new) - rated it 3 stars

Emilyx My 7th grade English class read the book and the movie; I found it didn't capture any interest for me, and I still wonder why we read it for school.

It might be just me, but I find the book cheesy, and not all that impressive in terms of literature and imagery, so why is it so popular in schools?

Some of my classmates say they cried at the end. I definitely did not.

Kiersten In Texas, I read this in my ELAR class in 7th grade. Then I moved to New York and read it again in 8th grade for ELA. I also watched the movie both years as well.
