Kelly | 54 comments Falling Under by Gwen Hayes 4/5 stars
Finished on 2/27

Overall I liked this book. Theia has lead a very uneventful and sheltered life. Until a new student,Haden, enters her school. Theia feels a connection to Haden and believes he is the boy she has been dreaming about. She can't seem to resist Haden or the world of under where Haden comes from. Theia and Haden both must make a choice and deal with Haden's demon mother, Mara, so that they can be together.

Kimberly (gravy) | 530 comments Eternal Rider review

4 of 5 stars
Finished reading March 01, 2012

Hey now! You know it's a good Larissa Ione book where there's a half naked man on the cover!
This started off slow but it gave me enough to want to continue reading. It also helped that I was on jury duty so naturally I wanted to read more than sit on a jury. But I digress...
The characters were interesting enough that I would have hung out with them if they were real, ya know? The characters felt real enough even though they can summon horses out of their arms and can open a gate to go anywhere they want in a matter of seconds. Talk about not having to deal with traffic and finding a parking space! Can I get a 'raise the roof' for Hades? I'd play fetch with him!
The banter between the siblings is great. That seems to be one if the high points about reading Ione's books. I don't roll my eyes while reading and for a moment while really getting into the story, I started to ponder Armageddon. Oh wait, that was just the court clerk calling my name as a potential juror.
Hang on a sec...
All clear. I've been dismissed.

Anyway, I'm eager to get my hands on the second book so the story continues because who wouldn't want to read how Limos gets out of being Satan's bride. That and Pesty needs another slap in the face from his siblings.
Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1) by Larissa Ione

Kerstin | 862 comments Glad you enjoyed it, Kimberly, despite the jury duty! I keep on meaning to start this series, as I loved "Demonica", but keep on getting side tracked by other books.

Kimberly (gravy) | 530 comments I really liked the Demonica series as well.
I did the same with this series where I bought the first book but held on to it for a while.

Kerstin | 862 comments Yay, the new shelf is up!
I'm going to read either Dragon Actually (Dragon Kin, #1) by G.A. Aiken or The Mane Event (Pride, #1) by Shelly Laurenston . Will let you know my final decision after I finished my demon book; shouldn't be long as I really love it (after a bit of a slow start)!

Kimberly (gravy) | 530 comments New Shelf! New Shelf!
For Paranormal Romance, I'm reading The Trouble With Magic by Madelyn Alt. The Trouble With Magic (A Bewitching Mystery, #1) by Madelyn Alt

This looks cute and it's been sitting on my shelves for ages. All the more reason to give it a try.

Kerstin, Dragon Actually was really good as is the rest of the series. I think you'll like it. Can't wait to see which on you pick. The author is really good no matter what name she writes under.

Kerstin | 862 comments Kimberley, I loved the "Magnus Pack" books and wanted to start one of her other series for ages. I'm leaning towards "Dragon Actually", as that would give me a start to my Dragon Challenge as well.

Looking forward to see what you think about "The Trouble with Magic". I borrowed it from the library once and then never got around to reading it. Might pick it up again, if you like it.

Kimberly (gravy) | 530 comments Dragon Challenge? OOOOO! I love dragon books!

So far TTM is kinda slow. I'm already up to page 90 and I'm wondering where this is going and why this booked was marked by 7 other people as paranormal romance. Oh well. Maybe it will pick up in a few chapters.

Kimberly (gravy) | 530 comments The Trouble With Magic
Finished 4 March
2 Stars

I wanted to like this book. It's been sitting on my shelves for ages. It's a paranormal mystery with a little romance mixed in. Well, the little romance turned into a whole lot of nothing. I hope the author doesn't drag that out with the two characters.
The mystery part of the book turned out to be interesting. I wasn't sure who the murderer was until the end. And the reason why was somewhat interesting.
I ordered the next book to see if this first book was just set up for the rest of the series. This series has potential so I'll give it another try.

Kerstin | 862 comments Demon Shelf:
Daughter of the Blood ★★★★★ 4/3/12

This was a dark and gritty fantasy book, filled with violence and sex, which is mainly used to control and punish.
I found it a little hard to get through the first 15%, as there was a lot of world building and introduction to the power-and magic systems, but after that I was captivated by the story and didn't want to put it down.

Kerstin | 862 comments I'm sure I will, Kimberley! Just have to finish my current read before getting to it: Perfection. I would probably never have picked it up without a glowing recommendation, which said it would read like a Shelley Laurenston novel. And it does! It's a contemporary romance though, no supes involved, but you may still enjoy it :)

Soul Thief (The Demon Trappers #2) by Jana Oliver

Soul Thief by Jana Oliver **** 3-6

Nice continuation of the series. Riley is becoming more independant, although she still has trouble listening to that little inner voice that tells us all when things aren't right. Plenty of action, and even some angel loving! PG13 rated, but it was there.

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments I'll read The Ice Dragon for the Paranormal Romance shelf.

Kerstin | 862 comments Paranormal Romance Shelf:
Dragon Actually (Dragon Kin, #1) by G.A. Aiken 9/3/12 ★★★★

This book contains two stories: the pretty much full length novel "Dragon Actually" and the novella "Chains and Flames". They are both quick, light and enjoyable reads.

Dragon Actually: 4 Stars
The story of Annwyl the Bloody, who leads a rebellion against her brother and Fearghus the Destroyer, a shape shifting dragon.
This was a very sweet and romantic lovestory with a lot of sarcastic humour, some bloody battles and a few steamy scenes. I liked the two main characters, but really started to enjoy myself when Fearghus' various family members showed up. The interactions between them were quite hilarious at times and I loved their reaction to the sometimes rather crazy Annwyl.

Chains and Flames: 4 Stars
This is a prequel to the first story and tells how Fearghus' parents got together and turned into the loved up couple, that just loves to embarrass their children.

Kelly | 54 comments The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1)by Julie Kagawa 4/5 finished 3/7/12

The world building in this book was interesting. It's not something that I would normally read but I enjoyed it. Meghan's brother is kidnapped and she gets help from her friend Puck to go to the Nevernever to find him. While there she learns that she is the daugher of Oberon, the summer faery king. She also encouters and gets help from Grimalkin and Ash, the winter faery prince. The journey Kagawa takes us on is fun and imaginative.

Finished 12 Mar

Super cute and super quick to read.
This is my first book from this author. This is just what I needed; a little fluff, a mystery and a set up to read the next book. I like the main character. She isn't a push over. At least I didn't think she came across that way.But what do I know?
Truthfully? I'm a total sap. I love stories like this.

Deadly Little Games (Touch, #3) by Laurie Faria Stolarz
Read 3-13 **

Maybe it's just been too long since I read the first 2 books in this series, but I had a hard time getting into the story. Nothing wrong with it - just felt kinda like I was slogging thru it. I'm gonna try it again in a few weeks to see if I enjoy it more then. It could have been my mood at the time that made it hard to enjoy.

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments I'll be reading The Body Finder (The Body Finder, #1) by Kimberly Derting for Paranormal Mystery.

message 149: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments Paranormal Mystery:
Small Favor (The Dresden Files, #10) by Jim Butcher 14/3/12 ★★★★

This was a fast and furious book, seemingly consisting of one fight scene after the other, involving winter and summer fae, as well the Denarians/Fallen Angels. It was nice to meet all of my favourite characters again and have Harry finally get a new love interest - so it's one I wouldn't necessarily have expected.
