Finished my Supernatural Book:

Web of Lies by Jennifer Estep ★★★★ 7/2/12

This is the second book in the "Elemental Assassin" series and it was an enjoyable, action-packed story. I actually liked it a little more than the first instalment. Gin and her extended family are great characters and the world is interesting with its host of supernatural characters including elementals, vamps, giants and dwarves (and yes, there's even a goth dwarf). It is a bit gritty and bloody at times, but that is to be expected from an assassin heroine.
The thing that still bothers me is the love story. I could have lived without it in the first book and in this one I didn't feel much different. It's the love interest that bothers me, he is a right idiot ;) Hopefully the new guy who showed up, will take his place in future books.

It was weird having Caine (I think that was his name) but he essentially becomes backstory, so instead of the author referring to some unknown dude, we actually know & are repulsed by Caine just like Gin. So it really works in the long run, but just as backstory, not a major component of the books.

Unearthly by Cynthia Hand ★★★★ Feb. 7, 2012

There are more angels among us than any of us realizes - even the angels! Clara and her brother are 1/4 angel-blood. Their Mom is 1/2. The book starts off seeming like the angel-blood are few and far between. By the end we discover that isn't necessarily so. I'm looking forward to the next book. Kinda hope it's about her brother....he's been up to something, but no one knows what!

That's good to know! He is very close to the top-spot on my list of most despised love interests, lol.

Clockwork Angel ★★★

CA started out pretty good and then seemed to stop and really slow down during the middle.I was waiting for it to pick back up but it just never got there for me. I didn't like that the characters seem to mirror the ones in the MI books. I wanted something different from them. Although I do like Jem. He's such a sweetheart. He's the only reason I will think about reading Clockwork Prince.

Free Space (Group Bookshelf):
Right Hand Magic ★★ 10/2/12

I unfortunately didn't like this book too much. The world the story was set in, was interesting enough, but the characters fell flat for me. Tate, the heroine, I didn't really like at all, her love interest was nice but bland and the rest of the cast wasn't much better. The story itself was veeery slow and the actual plot only started way after the half way mark. The writing itself reminded me strongly of a YA novel and some of the conversations just seemed too contrived.

I finished my book and here's my review:
3 of 5 stars

I'm not sure what to think about this. The book has sitting on my shelves for ever, so I buckled down and decided to finally read it.
I don't know if it was the content or the fact that the Kindle text to speech can put anyone to sleep. But the book was just ok. It wasn't all that bad. I just couldn't get get into it that much to be excited to want to run home to read.
I don't know if I'll read the rest of the series right away, but I know I won't have the Kindle read to me.



I'm going to find a free space book to munch on while we wait for the next shelf!

Fun book. Really enjoyed the friendship between Kay and the dragon. Thought the relationship between Kay and Jon was very sweet. Hoping there is a sequel for this book soon. I can see lots of possibilities to continue - and I want to know what happens with Kay and Jon......
