R4: Team #2 ~ Second to None
One of my all time favorite series started out as a trilogy, but ended up expanding. The Black Jewel series by Anne Bishop. I just got the next book I need to read from the library! I will be reading the
(Black Jewel).
Finished
18th Feb, ★★, which is my Free-Space read. I must admit I chose this book because of the cover. The writing isn't great but the plot was passable and the characters slightly endearing. The sex was hot but kind of annoying, lol.
I'm going to take this opportunity to read
for Favourite Series. I love Ms Abe's writing style and have been wanting to get back into the series.
I'm going to read
for favorite series. I've been kinda reluctant to read this one because it takes place away from the Tri Cities. Which means Samuel is not much in it :(
Finally- done with the ghosts book: 2/18/12
3.5 * for me.
It took a little while to get in this book, but once I did it was a fun read. My big question: (view spoiler)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I will be reading Ceremony in Death for Favorite Series. Eve and Roarke are wonderful together, but I really am looking forward to seeing what Peabody is up to!
Rachel, you need to add a little more to your review please. We've been cracking down on one liner reviews this round.
Done with
- 2/19 I gave it ★★★★★ (Favorite series)As all of her books, I loved this book as well. This book is full of short stories with all the characters I love from her previous books. The stories fill in between the whole books. The last story was sad (because a beloved character passed away)and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but turned out to be a wonderful ending to the book.

Good Job!! :D
Favourite Series: Finished
, 22-Feb-12, I gave it ★★★. I can easily get lost in Ms Abe's writing, but I must admit, I felt this one dragged a little. Maricara and Kim were more likeable as main characters than Lia and Zane (previous book in this series), but their relationship felt distrustful til the end, which made their connection a tad unbeleivable, IMO. I'd been warned about this book not being the greatest in the series, so possibly because of that, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting.
Finished
this morning (2/22) I am giving it 3*.I'm reading along and I kept thinking "I'm missing something." I know I read Dead as a Doornail and it wasn't THAT long ago. So, I went and looked for what I may have missed (thank you Goodreads for numbering the short stories). For anyone reading this series who hasn't gotten this far or who wants to read it- you need to read
after Dead as a Doornail, but before Definitely Dead. I'm disappointed that a story that appeared in an anthology was an important plot point in this one (I deducted a * for that mess). I haven't read the anthology and don't think I will now since I know what happened. Please, please let this be the last of the Pelts too. I'm done with that storyline. I like the new love interest for Sookie. Will see where that goes.

She's not with Eric anymore?
It's so long since I've read Bite, I'll have to dig it out and read again. Especially as I'm only up to Definitely Dead. Thanks Rachel :D

Read the book:-) I don't want to spoil anything for you!
I thought I was the last person on earth that hasn't that series. Nice to know that there is someone else. LOL
Lady Jaye wrote: "i REALLY don't mind spoilers. Plus, i haven't actually ever read any of the books *hangs head* ;)"Me either! you are not alone :-)
I did watch season one and didn't like it AND that was without reading the books. Did you gals like the TV series???
I watched seasons 1 and 2 with a friend who was crazy about the series. I quit after about 3/4 of the way through season 2 and haven't looked back.
Haven't seen True Blood yet, but I own the season one DVDs! I enjoy the books, but they aren't ones I would read again.I'm hoping
will work for the next self, I'm picking it up from the library tomorrow!
I am starting with my pick today. *hangs head*. is should be finished late tonight or early tomorrow.
Okay change of plans. I don't think I am going to finish reading River Marked before tonight. So I am substituting a book from what has become one of my new favorite series, the Downside ghosts. I read
on Wednesday 25/02. I liked this book a great deal. A lot of drama comes to a head here, between Chess and Terrible, and then there is the fake 'triangle' with Lex, smh. the story was good, and I feel like I've got a better grasp of the worldbuilding and what Chess' job entails (I was still slightly confused). But I really, really liked this one. ★★★★
I am still reading River Marked, just in case I can't pull a switch on the group.
I couldn't find a rule against changes, but I posted a question in the Question/Discussion thread just to be sure.
Changes are always acceptable. The only criteria is that the book is on the shelf, or for Free Space, that it meets the special rules.
Shelf: Favorite SeriesI finished Ceremony in Death. This series does keep getting better! This time, Eve investigates murders involving Wicca and Satanists. Even though it was easy to tell who the bad guys are, there were a couple of red herrings that kept it suspenseful. Looking forward to more! ★★★★

Good Job!! :D
Yeah! I'm gonna go with
!!! (just as soon as I finish
, which is pretty good. Don't read a lot of contemporary romances).
Erm... i'll either be reading
or
for the Demons shelf. LOTU is #1 on my tbr, it's been there so long :(
OK, finished
27.02.12. Loved it, 4 stars. These are just so freaking readable!! Now I have to wait goodness-knows-how-long for my next fix of Charley and co. I was a little disappointed with book two, so it's with great pleasure that I can say I have absolutely loved this third instalment in the Charley Davidson series. Ms Jones has me hooked, her characters are often funny, sweet and brave. The action and plot in this book seemed to come more to the fore rather than it being centred on Charley and Reyes or maybe it's just that I've become attached to the secondary characters just as much and so I find myself as emotionally vested in what happens to them as between Charley and Reyes. I can't wait for number 4!!
