R4: Team #2 ~ Second to None
Free SpaceFinished
2/11 4*I was worried about this series after the last book that I didn't care for. Kresley Cole has an ability to make readers root for her Alpha men. Anyone else and I probably would have thrown the book across the room. Lothaire starts out as vain and jealous (shocker) and improves (slowly). The ending makes me want the next book NOW!
It's the middle fo a very hot day here and I'm about to take the kids to the pool. Will have a proper look through the shelf and will let you know my choice later tonight when the kids are asleep :-)
I changed my mind. I am going to read:
. I don't know what it is about, but it was on the "Ghost" shelf. I checked it out from the library and I need to read it anyway.
LKH's book is not bad, CaroB. Nor Shadow Game. But I think bone Crossed is the best of the three. Haven't read the nora roberts
I've read Midnight Bayou & liked it. I have the Feehan in a pile next to my bed but I can't bring myself to read it since Dark Prince bored me so badly.
The NR book I really liked. I like both PB and LKH. I haven't read CF. It seems like you can't go wrong. :-)
Hey ladies, so I finished my free space read
yesterday. I give it ★★★★ because enjoyed it way more than the second book. The mystery is confusing, as there's a whole backstory that happens off-screen, but still, it was a fun ride. I'll be reading the fourth book soon.
I'm having trouble with the html codes that link to our reviews in post #34. I suspect it's because my home computer is having issues. I will fix it tomorrow at work.
Thanks for all the feedback, ladies. I've only just started the NR one and already it's sucked me in!
Glad you're enjoying it, CaroB!ok, Made a decision for Ghosts, I will be reading
. I will start on Wednesday or Thursday.
I finished my Free Space pick,
. I'm not sure if I just wasn't in the right mood (actually I've been sick), or I'm just burned out on Cat and Bones, but I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous 4. Also, Frost created a spin-off series with the secondary characters in between books 4 and 5, so I felt like I had missed a lot. I did like the New Orleans scenes with Marie Leveau...made me want to read Anne Rice again. Great line: "Lucifer's bloody ballsack!" ★★★
This one of the series I have on my "to-read" self. Is the series worth reading ... just this book was a little slow?
I would definitely say it's worth reading. I think my mood (not to mention stomach flu) had a lot to do with my enjoyment of book 5.
2 of my 3 kids have been sick too .... I almost have them all well again. I hope that you fell better Sandy! I know how those stomach viruses can be .... NASTY! I will diffidently read the series when I can get to it.
I'm visiting family in Indiana right now, so my reading will be a bit slow until next week. My mom, niece, and brother-in-law are all sick (stomach flu). It seems like a lot of people have had it this year.
No Problem Rachel ... hope your family gets to feeling better. Stupid Virus! LOL Enjoy your time with your family. :-)
Hope everyone gets better real soon, it sounds very nasty and you can keep it on your side of the pacific thanks. LOL
I am done with
... 2/16 ★★★★☆I honestly have no idea why this was on the "ghost" self, unless later in the series a ghost comes into play. I kind-of feel like I cheated and need to read real ghost book. LOL
The book started out a little slow, but pick up toward the end of the book. I like the concept of Evernight Academy being a school for vampires that look young enough to pass as high school students. The school is designed for old vampires that look young to learn about and catch up with the "modern" world they are living in. All the teachers are as vampires. Every year vampires enroll and continue through out the centuries. Bianca Olivier is a very rare "born" vampire. Both of her parents are old vampires that conceived after about 350 years. Bianca herself in not a full vampire yet. Her parents took teaching jobs at the Academy for Bianca to be around other vampires. That is all I will revel. You will have to read the book. LOL
I'm about 15% of the way through
...and I am confused. Are ghosts corporeal? incorporeal? it's hard to tel from how they're described. and the druggies street lingo is so annoying and completely foolish. :/
You got me girl! I have not a clue. All I know is the the main female character is a druggie for a reason. I haven't read it yet. Good luck ... maybe it will get easier to understand further into the book.
I have finished my Ghosts selection,
. I saw the movie long ago and remembered basically nothing about it, so I was able to read the book with fresh eyes. It is very well written and has a great story about 3 sets of sisters from 3 different generations who have supernatural powers. There was no actual ghost in the story, however an evil spirit did seem to be causing bad things to happen so I suppose that's why it was shelved as "ghosts" for some readers. I recall that some reviewers have accused Sarah Addison Allen ripping off this book in her
. I can "kinda sorta" understand the criticism, but they are entirely different stories with certain similar elements. At any rate I enjoyed them both very much! ★★★★
