Romance Novel: Accidental Virgin-Valerie Frankel

Ist time author: Dewey-Vicki Myron

Mystery: Zapped-Carol Higgins Clark

Character with a handicap: No Pity- Joseph Shapiro

Title with king etc.: The Lasxt of the High Kings- Kate Thompson

message 2058: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) Holy frak. I just finished The Last Jihad ! It was pretty suspenseful there at the end! I was kinda afraid it was going to turn into Hamlet... But not EVERYONE died, so that was nice. That book, being political, is worth 15 pts. I'm now at 370 pts.

All I've got is one little 5-point book, Ever , which is my random TBR book.

In the meantime, I need to stop reading books on my Spring Challenge list. I'm being careful to only read half of them, at least, so they'll still count. I'm afraid that's working the system though...

I plan on finishing this one before the challenge closes down this Saturday as well. My copy has 1,006 pages and I’ve got about 200 to go. ::drum roll::

It might be a little easier to buckle down and finally finish if I wasn’t working on 2 other books simultaneously—also for this challenge. The pressure is ON!

message 2070: by Heather (new)

Heather This was a great challenge for me. I was hoping to earn 175 points but earned 240 instead. I read several books I probably never would have picked up before and now I feel my life is more enriched by them. Didn't mean to sound cheesey, but it's true. Okay, I could have done without Mary Higgins Clark, but I had been wanting to read one of her books because several of my students like them - the challenge gave me the excuse to pick one up so it's no big deal that I didn't like it.

Now I have to read two books for school and prep for the Spring Challenge. Congrats to everyone who completed all the tasks in this one!

Terri (terrisa-uk) I've just finished The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, set mainly in Poland where my Grandmother was born, so that's another 10 pointer for me please.

So I think that takes me to 120 points ... but I will double check all that I've done!

Jeane - I'm so glad you enjoyed the book!

It was great. If now someone would be able to tell me for which task I could use it...I know that it was a 10 or 15 points task....

I don't think Susanna Clarke died in 2008. Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is (easily!) over 700 pages, though.

Terri (terrisa-uk) Cynthia, for the 'new author' task, can their first book be published in 2009 or does it have to be 2008? I have The Birthing House here, published 2009 ... would that work?

EDITED: OOPS! ignore me - re-read the task and you don't state the year, just that they only have one book published, so it would work! Sorry!

Maria (minks05) | 481 comments this was such a fun challenge! i still haven't decided if i'm going to do the spring challenge. i think i may wait and pick back up with the summer challenge, i have some stuff i want to read that don't fit in with many of the tasks, so i may just hold off.

i had hoped for a few more points, but i had to bail on the over 700 page book, i couldn't deal with Jonathan Strange another minute! lots of fun over all, congrats to everyone for their accomplishments!
