My time away from GR was compounded by me entering a writing competition. lol.
Just when my head wasn't filled with the stress of that thing I mentioned earlier that I don't want to bring up ;-)...I decided at the last minute to enter a comp.
I know I won't get on the longlist because the stuff I write is not a part of the current zeitgeist (not feminist, about Trump or other politics, not about refugees or the environment or indigenous issues), but the experience of knocking into shape the first 3 chapters of the novel I'm writing was a good experience.
I only decided a week and half before entries closed, that I was going to enter. So I had a lot of editing to do, as well as writing chapter breakdowns, synopsis and a short essay in time.
So, I went into a writing cocoon trying to get it all done before entries closed. I succeeded and that was last week.
Then my hubby went away for a couple weeks work and I was busy every day from doing all the farmwork and housework on my own.
No reading done at all for months!

Yeah Andy. You'll get yours!!
I was only watching reruns of a show we have here called Cricket Legends. The interview was Brett lee. Oh boy, what a legend, he's got me all pumped for Ashes now.

Good luck with the competition!

You look at previous years' winners and they are all on trendy topics like those mentioned in previous post.
Mine is an historical fiction set in the bush in 19th century Australia. A thriller. No refugees or feminists for miles around.

Personally, I think Australia is fascinating. Your story sounds very cool. If I wanted to read about those other "trendy" topics you named, I could watch the news. Blecch! Give me a 19th-century Australian bush thriller ANY day.

And thanks Betsy! Yeah, I'm with you. I'll take an Aussie bush thriller set in the 1800s over those trendy topics too. Its why we like the books we talk about in this group, I'd say, because its fun escapism form the politics, feminism and refugee traumas. I also read the newspapers to stay abreast of latest topics, I don't want them in my fiction.

Actually it has been a fairly cool summer this year. It didn't reach the 100s till this past week.

Stay cool!

It was based on a book. Lambs of God Which must have been better than the tv adaptation in order to get the big budget.
If anybody reads the book, let me know if it is bad. The tv series had a plot so riddled with holes that its hard to believe the book wouldn't be too. Book is not something I would ever read. I'm just curious if it is equally bad.

I already made my call... You cant spell smashes without ASHES. Barring weather, I predict a whitewash.

Needs a change in attitude as much as personnel & I would start with the captain if the rot continues.
As for the Aussies they rest Starc & hazelwood...... how fired up will they be to play the next match

I can't belive we nabbed that first test.

Have you watched it yet, Adrian? I thought it looked awesome in the ads. Was excited for it. It was not what I expected. It was ok in first ep and downhill after that.

I'm sure someone, somewhere in our book group was doing something more exciting??

Meanwhile, Reading Bernard Cornwall’s VAGABOND, the Grail trilogy. Loving it!

Was finally feeling better and then I had my 6 month old niece all Friday night and all Saturday. I had to lug her in her car seat and all her stuff up to my second floor apartment both days and back down again. Plus, she’s a little diva and wants to constantly be picked up and held so every time I set her down, she’d scream her little boujee head off and Auntie would have to bend down and pick her up again. Threw her into her stroller (which I also carried up and down my stairs) and walked the mile and a half to our little downtown area so at least she’d be in that all day and not me holding her. Smart in theory but not in execution. Walking uses all your core muscles. Needless to say, I could barely move today after finally feeling better after 3 weeks of pain (it felt like my abdomen and rib cage were being squeezed in a vise). I stayed in bed, stiff as a board, reading. Just took a shower so I can sleep in a bit tomorrow before work and I feel like someone kicked me in my side with pointy stiletto heels, onto a rocky highway, where I was run down by a Mac truck.
I need a weekend to recuperate from my weekend :(

Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

:) Exciting finish though..... near catches on the boundary jus dropping over for SIX!..... missed run-outs..... dropped catches...... having no referrals left when he's PLUMB LBW!!...... last man batting only facing like 17 balls & scoring 1 run in like a 70+ partnership....... fantastic nail biting ending after all the dross that had gone on before. Stokes & Archer are the only two deserving of a place in the 4th test.
The test reminded me a lot of 1981 Where Botham saved the match with his innings so that BIG BOB could skittle the Aussies with 8/43.... still remember it as a kid crowded around a small tranny radio with a few mates at school bunking after lunch & missing our first afternoon lesson :) our PE teacher was bunking with us lols

In a car accident Thursday evening. No one was hurt, thank goodness, but I'm still waiting on the insurance company and hoping to rent a car. I'm still shaken up mentally and will be until this whole thing is sorted out about my car.

Thank you. I hardly drive it and its been at least 7 years since a fender-bender. I hope I never have to go through these hoops again. All those companies do is tell you how much you can save on your premiums; they don't tell you about the hassle with claims.

I agree 100%, Eileen!

What happened? They were at fault I guess or your insurance would be saying no way.
