Great news, Terri. Congrats to both Margaret and Gretchen!

Bobby (bobbej) | 1375 comments Good to see you back Terri. I've just been hanging around, occasionally dropping a word or two and that probably won't change. But know I'm here and checking up on things!!
We've had to put up with Obama for 8 years now and the thought of Trump actually being a viable candidate is appalling. The alternatives are Hillary Clinton and some obscure left and right wingers. Hard times ahead I fear. Maybe it's time to buy the beach house in Costa Rica and leave all this in my rear view mirror!!

Haha, yeah, you guys don't have a lot of choices, but I seem to recall you had less choices last election?? That was an awkward set of options.
As a foreigner, I think Clinton looks the least frightening. Since she knows what she's getting herself into.

You got that right, Terri! I'm just guessing Clinton will get it but her two Dem. opponents seem like they might be good for some other office. Trump scares the tar out of me!

Maybe Dirty Harry or the Terminator will run against him!

Mind I would love to watch Putin, Trump & ol' Boris Johnstone chewing the fat around the table! Boris would be gurning like a good un sat between those two

Allison | 1704 comments Ugh. I don't like any of the potential candidates. I just think, out of the entire nation, THESE are the front runners??? THIS is what we have to chose from???

Welcome back Terri, not only to the group but the reading world in general! I hope this means everything is much better for you.

Aww, that's awesome Margaret and Gretchen!

message 13166: by Kimber (new)

Kimber (kimberlibri) | 785 comments Agree Allie. I have no idea who I'm voting for in the next election but I do know it WON'T be Trump. Everyone always says 'if so and so is elected i'm moving to Canada'... Democrats are saying they'll leave if Trump is elected (which I understand) and Republicans are saying if we allow refugees (or Obamacare or Iran deal or rain on Friday...) they'll move to Canada...which I find ironic since Canada is 100x more Socialist leaning than the current U.S. I just don't want a bunch of folks clogging up the immigration process when I'm ACTUALLY moving to Canada ASAP for marriage related reasons rather than political...:D

It's only folks who have $$$ in back of them who run. I actually had Ben Carson's computer call me groveling for money, and I'm not even registered Republican. I vote for who I want though, whichever party--not much choice this time around! What a sick-saccharine voice Carson has!

message 13170: by happy (new)

happy (happyone) | 2782 comments I am a registered Rebulican and Trump has me worried, for that matter so does Carson and Cruz.

Even though I am a rebulican, I've never voted a straight ticket in my life, which is going on 40 yrs now.

Simona | 1453 comments Welcome back Terri! And welcome pn board Margaret and Gretchen....I'm not here often myself, not much time on my hands these days, but what a nice surprise!
I hope to still find Dawn among the threads :)

message 13172: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Thanks, Simona! :)
I'm afraid the only time you'll find Dawn amoung the threads is Dawn posts from pre November 2015. Our mate isn't in A&M anymore. She has completely lost any desire for the hf genre and didn't see much point in sticking around.
You'll see her around Goodreads though. She's still on GR in other genre groups.

message 13175: by Laureen (new)

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 133 comments The problem with public Libraries. I order books from the Library online. Sometimes there is a long queue waiting to read a certain book so I pre-reserve it knowing it will be a long wait until it is available.

Why do the books my waiting list always come available at the same time? I can't renew the borrowed book if there are others waiting to read it.

I was late starting to read "All the light we cannot see" because I was in the middle of another book and now it is due on the 5th December. I am thoroughly enjoying it but time is not on my side. I will just have to buy the book, I guess, because by the time it is available again, I will have forgotten the detail of what I have already read! Wow is me!

Jane | 3480 comments Laureen wrote: "The problem with public Libraries. I order books from the Library online. Sometimes there is a long queue waiting to read a certain book so I pre-reserve it knowing it will be a long wait until it ..."

I try to stay away from "bestsellers", so I don't have that problem. I did get out All the Light We Cannot See [exception to my rule] and concentrated on it immediately for the 3 weeks I had it in case there was a waiting list.

message 13177: by Laureen (new)

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 133 comments Yeah, I should have kept my eyes on the waiting list to view my position. But when there is 130 people in the queue and only a couple of books, at that stage, in the library catalogue, I didn't think I had a worry.

message 13178: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments It is the way of things with Libraries. They always come in at once. It has caught me out so many times.

As mentioned here yesterday, I hadn't read a book since March this year. This means that the other day when I went to check out the libraries online catalogue for some good books, I couldn't for the life of me remember my password!
What a sorry state of affairs. :)

message 13179: by Laureen (new)

Laureen (laureenandersonswfcomau) | 133 comments HaHa - I can relate to that. Between work, taking care of my 90yr old mother's affairs and my own home life, I given up on remembering anything.

Apologies for not having been around; between the move and a big contract that I'm in charge of that went wonky pretty much from the word 'go' I haven't had time for anything else in life.

Congrats to Margaret and Gretchen on the mod positions.

XOs to you all

Been lovely to hear from you, mate. :)
It has been great having your company as Mod. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into A&M.
Life might have made continuing to mod here difficult to fit in, but it is good you'll still swing by and visit us when you find time. :)

All the best,

Kimber (kimberlibri) | 785 comments Dress Maker...I'm getting the feeling it's making those of us that chose to work from home and the least hours possible option into seamstresses. I can barely thread a needle so I'm not expecting to make much at this new occupation.
