message 13062: by Margaret, Sherlockian Sheila (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments Back at work. Managed to make a monumental stuff up and send out an email to all of our clients rather than one. There was nothing of real importance in the email, just a reminder, but I was mortified.

My bosses reaction? Damn near wet himself laughing.

And people wonder why I love my job.

Gretchen (eab2012) I'm finally moved! Now if I could just make these boxes unpack themselves.

Unpacking has to be the worst part of moving! Congratulations on the move and i hope unpacking goes smoothly. I think my husband and i still have a box or two in the attic that are still packed from our move. :)

happy (happyone) | 2782 comments Congrats! Enjoy you new home.

Gretchen (eab2012) I will have tons of "help" once the twinkers are let loose.

message 13068: by happy (new)

happy (happyone) | 2782 comments that kind of "help" makes precious memories - much, much later of course :)

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments Congratulations on the move, Gretchen. Just don't get sidetracked reading all your books when you're supposed to be unpacking.

Been there, got the t-shirt. :D

All of my books are still in their boxes out in the garage. Mr. Gretchen broke one of my bookshelves during the move so now he has to buy me all new ones to match the new living room furniture. The library is only three blocks away and it's not snowing yet.

I have the 'Raven' and 'Secret Garden' fingerless gloves from this site. They rock.

message 13073: by Linda (new)

Linda (ladylawyer8650) | 1702 comments I hope you enjoy the New house, Gretchen! I feel for you having to unpack this close to Christmas. I have a healing stress fracture in my foot. Now I ask you, how am I to host my annual Thanksgiving dinner from my sick bed? On second thought, I could keep to my bed and give orders to my husband who will be the chef and set-up man, i.e. putting leaves in table, filling salt and pepper shakers, and setting the table.

message 13074: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) As soon as we get to that corner of the garage, the Christmas decorations are going up. More than likely this weekend. That may seem a little early but I am not digging them out just to store them and dig them out in two weeks. I always decorate a little early. I use to do the seasonal set ups at Target and if I didn't put decorations up early at home, I would get so sick of seeing them at work that they wouldn't go up at all.

message 13075: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) | 19 comments When I got to my desk this morning I saw that my boss had dumped a bag of Christmas decorations near my chair. I guess that means I have to pull down the Halloween decorations and replace them with the tinsel!

It does seem a bit early though, what is the norm? In Australia people normally wait till the 1st of December....

message 13076: by Margaret, Sherlockian Sheila (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments I don't do work until 1st week in December, and home the 1st weekend.

As much as I love Christmas, decorations in early November are a little much.

message 13077: by happy (new)

happy (happyone) | 2782 comments I was planning on putting up the out side lights this weekend. However, We had snow on the ground this morning. I'll have to wait till it's all dried out - hopefully next week.

message 13078: by Kim (new)

Kim Hathorn | 12 comments I've already started listening to Christmas music. December is usually pretty busy for some people, and here in the US we celebrate Thanksgiving in late November, so early November isn't too early to start thinking and planning for the Christmas season.

Gretchen, hope you enjoy your new home.

Allison | 1704 comments My mother's favorite radio station starts playing Christmas music at 12:01 a.m. every November 1st. Its sickening :P

message 13080: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears….sorry, gotta make this dramatic. After 3 and a half years as a moderator in this group, I’ve decided it’s time to step down.
Rather than my job giving me more time, I seem to have even less time to spend here. Longer hours, more work and the commute all eat into time I used to spend on GRs and I need to be free to spend that time where I want, rather than where I must.
Also, due to a waning interest in historical fiction I will be leaving the group at the same time. Which, considering the 4 years (and almost 5000 posts) I’ve spent making friends and having fun will be a bit bittersweet.
So, because I’m rather springing this on you all, I thought I’d post this a week before it all happens. I’ll be here just long enough to set up the thread for December’s group read on the 14th before departing.

This is my Au Revoir to you all!

Linda (ladylawyer8650) | 1702 comments I do have a tale to tell which is, unfortunately, true. If you live in America you may have heard the story about several inmates in the medium lock-up facilities in * County, *. For some reason the lock-up was raided during the daytime last week. In the cells authorities found
