Finishing Harry Potter is an emotional experience. I cried so much during the final book, it left me feeling rather washed out.

How was it for you DG?

Cried buckets from beginning to end and I'm still somewhat depressed (I don't know that I've ever felt so fragile after finishing a book.) I read the last two books almost back to back so it's been very exciting, exhausting and emotionally tough.

I can completely understand. Try something from a genre completely opposite from HP. I've found it works with series that I didn't want to end.. most of the time.

I need to reevaluate some series I was thinking of finishing for this. I read one of the books and didn't like it so that reduces the likelihood that I'll finish the series this year.

Cyberrevolution series by Kaitlyn O'Connor. The book is sci-fi erotica and the first book was really interesting, the second was still good...but the third one was really weird!

I'm also not sure I can catch up with the BDB. I have to read 4 books to catch up and I'm not dying to read #7 so I've been having problems picking it up.

I can understand with BDB - it took me over a year to get through Lover Avenged. The romance element has really become secondary, they're still great books, but from a PNR point of view they've gone downhill since Lover Awakened.

I'm stuck halfway through Lover Avenged as well, but I'll eventually keep reading it, if you know, they stop publishing books I really want to read. LOL

I haven't been able to read book #5 -Lover Unbound. I keep putting it down and picking some other book. I'm not in a hurry to pick it up again.

Don't even get me started on Lover Unbound, I have serious problems with the ending of that book. She wimped out on the whole Butch and Vishous situation and no doubt she'll do the same with Qhuinn and Blay.

Lover Avenged just has too much going on in it - so many different story threads that Rhev and Ehlena don't get enough time (or enough sex). Wrath and Beth are great in it though. Had a very strong urge to bitchslap John Matthew at the end.

I've had problems with the series since the beginning with all the secondary stories that become more important than the romance. Usually I read the romance first (skipping all the other parts) and then read the whole book but now the books have gotten longer and I don't know that I want to go through the trouble.

I also HATED what Ward did with Phury's book so that hasn't made me want to pick up the next one.

I quit the BDB series after Lover Mine. I just wasn't feeling the series anymore. It works well as a UF series but I started it expecting PNR & that's not what I got in the later books. More power to the people who are obsessed with BDB but I was never crazy about that series & Ward flipping the script on her readers just made the decision to quit it even easier.

Phury's book is definately where it all started to drastically change - he got seriously screwed over when it came to the PNR aspect. But I loved the book because of the Phury/Zsadist storyline. Can you tell Zsadist is my favourite???

Rhev's book was the weakest so far for me, but like I said I've only just started Lover Mine. I'm a fan of both PNR and UF, so it's all good - I just miss the abundance of hot sex that was in the earlier books.

I hear you Christine - I seem to be concentrating on other challenges that finish soon! Maybe then I can get going on this one.

This is only the second challenge I've put together and I failed miserably to finish my first one - don't want that to happen again!

I keep thinking that maybe I need to take a break from my monthly challenges so I can focus on actually making progress on some of the yearly ones. Then I think, geez, I've still got almost eight months left there's plenty of time. Of course, that eight months will fly by...

What really does me in is the Pick it For Me challenge in the RRRC group. I always feel compelled to read at least one of the recommendations (usually more), and then I end up in one or two buddy reads out of it, too. Occasionally the recs are for books I was planning to read anyway (like Lover Reborn this month), but not usually. Oh well, at least when I start a new series, I can use it in one of the 'In With the New' challenges.

I must admit that that is one challenge I've never joined. I think I must be too moody, and I don't like being told what to do at the best of times. LOL.

So I suppose it depends on how much you read but I would've thought you'd get a couple of yearly books out of the way each month, regardless. The thing to do is be focused.

Apart from things like the Dragon challenge which is a little looser, I have a list of books (covers look good) and when they are due by. Then I use that list to pick books for the monthly challenges. I usually end up with a couple of extra that weren't on the list but that's OK, and if I know a particular book is coming out that I know I'll drop everything else to read, I put it in a challenge if I can, so then I don't feel bad. LOL.
