I still haven't read any of these, but I did pick up the first one at a library sale recently. Maybe I'll get to it in the next few months...

I read Rick Copp's Fingerprints and Facelifts, a book I'd had for a couple of years. It was supposed to be a take on a Charlie's Angels-type story, albeit with three middle-aged angels -- three women who worked together as private detectives in the 70s. Fast-forward 30 years... The team has split. One is now a wealthy socialite (with a beautiful, jet-setting stepdaughter), one is a housewife married to a professor (with two handsome sons), and one is in the upper ranks of the San Francisco Police Department (with a private detective son). They're drawn back together because someone has targeted their children for harm. Could it be one of the vengeful criminals they put away? The women join together (reluctantly for two of them) to find out.

Though there were parts of the book I liked, overall this was awful! The story jumped around a lot from scene to scene and from character to character. Though it wasn't too much to follow, it distracted from the overall cohesiveness of the story (or stories) within.

I wanted to like the story and the characters. I just didn't. I don't know what it was about it/them. I was so glad when I finished it that I'd only purchased the one book (though there aren't any others listed in what could have started as a series). I don't think I'd pick up a next-in-the-series.

I finished Blood Ties: A Bishop/Special Crimes Unit Novel recently. In general I like thrillers very much, I also read a lot of books by Karen Rose, Heather Graham, Brenda Novak, Rita Mae Brown, Mary Higgins Clark and others.

I'm reading Wicked Bugs by Amy Stewart and The Drunken Botanist, also by Amy Stewart. They're really interesting book, whether you're into horticulture/etymology or not.

I'm reading INTO THE DARKNESS which Is the third book in the Echo Falls Series. It's a YA book and so far is pretty good. I'm also reading QUEEN OF HEARTS by Wilkie Collins which is delightful. It's a series of mystery stories told by three elderly brothers to their ward, a young girl. One of the brothers son is away in the army. He is in love with the young girl and wants her to be at the brothers home so when he returns in order to propose. The young girl however is planning on leaving soon so the elderly men begin telling their stories leaving the ending as a cliff hanger. Think Scheherazade.

Besides cozies I like thrillers, police procedurals and detective stories, horror, science fiction, and fantasy. Before I started reading Knit, Purl, Die I read Robert B. Parker's Lullaby.

I just finished A Natural History of Dragons: A Memoir by Lady Trent

It reminded me of Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody books in many ways but instead of providing information on Egyptology, Lady Trent fills in information dragons. There is a mystery to solve, but the tone is a bit darker.

I picked up "One Moment, One Morning" by Sarah Rayner yesterday and I'm 77 pages into it. I'm enjoying it so far. I haven't had much time for reading lately between my kids (6 of them), my daycare, my house and knitting. I'm slowly getting back into reading. Just finished "The Lesson" by Suzanne Woods Fisher this week and really loved it. It's the 3rd book in the series.

I was actually a bit disappointed with COLD DAYS. I'm one of the few people I know who really liked GHOST STORY, tho.

I loved the storyline in , so you're not alone. My only problem was there was a substitute narrator. James Marsters has narrated all the rest and he is Harry Dresden! Ghost Story's narration was uneven and just not right.

When I heard John Glover was the narrator for that one I knew I could pass on the audio version.

I'm giving the audio version of David Baldacci's The Innocent another shot. I tried to listen to it when it first came out, but the sound effects and occasional music really bothered me. Since I want to get to The Hit, and I'ma anal about reading a series in order, I have to get through The Innocent first!

Finished Something Dangerous last night. It's the second book in a trilogy that follows an English publishing family and their American counterparts from around 1910-ish to wherever the third book winds up. :-) The one I just finished ends right after the Second World War. So far the books have been enthralling. (Dumb titles though. Sat here this morning thinking about posting this and couldn't remember the name of the book!)

These books are also so long that I'm getting woefully behind on my goal!
