Micah (onemorebaker) | 1071 comments According to Brandon Sanderson's twitter posts he finished writing book 14 in The Wheel of Time last night! A Memory of Light is done! Needs to be edited and finalized of course but all the scenes are written and turned in. Can't wait to get my hands on it sometime next year. I know that a lot of S&Lers gave up on The Wheel of Time but I haven't yet! I have been very impressed by the last two books and can't wait for this series to be completed! Anybody else excited?

Kate O'Hanlon (kateohanlon) | 778 comments I'm too shell shocked to be excited really.
I've been reading these books for more than half my life and now I have to plan out my last re-read.

terpkristin | 4407 comments I'm definitely excited. Though I was only introduced to these books while in grad school (read the first one in 2001 or so), I fell in love pretty quickly. Yes, the series did drag a bit in certain books, but audiobooks helped me get around that. I've re-"read" the series twice listening to audio versions (once when I wanted to really push and finish reading the 10th book and then again before the first Sanderson edition). I probably won't do a full re-read this time around, but may re-read/re-listen to the last one.

Micah (onemorebaker) | 1071 comments @Kate- I'm in the same boat as far as time in my life goes. Started when I was 13 now 28.

@Terpkristin- I will probably only re-read 12 and 13 if I can. Would love to do a whole series re-read some day but with 2 pre-schoolers full load at school and a 40+ hr job it won't be happening anytime soon. One day though. One day.

For selfish reasons, this is why I want them to make a miniseries or something. It'd allow me to go back and get the story again without reading through it.

Sam | 33 comments I'm with Micah on this one. I would love to re-read the entire series, but kids and work wouldn't allow me to get through them all before it's released. I think I'll try re-read at least the last couple.

I think Sanderson brought a lot of life back into the story. Most likely perhaps because he didn't have the world view of Jordan and was less likely to get stuck in some nuance.

Faiz | 80 comments Im still uncertain if i will do a full reread, if i do or don't I will follow along with Tor.com's Leigh Butler, who has done a chapter by chapter summary with literary commentary, which is often hysterically funny.
I strongly recommend it to anyone re-reading, It does spoil later plots, so its not the best way for a new reader, but otherwise highly recommended.

Also she recently started a similar read of ASOIAF, this one is different as she never read it before(shock!). But her commentary remains exceptional and worth following.

Omar Atin | 3 comments I can't wait til the book comes out. the wheel of time is what got me into epic fantasy books. sucks that we still have to wait another six to nine months according to brandon sanderson

John | 19 comments I gave up on this series about a third of the way into The Path of Daggers. I realized I was only continue to read the series out of habit, not because I enjoyed the story. To me it really felt like the plot was frozen in place for entire volumes. I read for pleasure and WoT became more like a chore that I would rather avoid.

Andrew (adrew) | 426 comments Can't wait for this either. Maybe I missed it, but when is this final tomb due out?

Personally I think Sanderson's has done a fine job finishing the series so I have high hopes he'll do it justice at the end. I did a reread via audiobook before the Sanderson books so I'm not sure if I will do a full reread again. Like Kate feels like a big chunk of my life has been slowly working towards the conclusion of this series. Such a shame Rigney/Jordan isn't around at the end.

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 1081 comments I'm just wondering is A Memory of Light going to as big as A Dance of Dragon was this year?

Will (longklaw) | 261 comments I'm so excited

message 13: by Therazor (new)

Therazor | 15 comments Brandon Sanderson is a beast. He writes books faster than I can read them. While he will not be in the top echelon of Fantasy writers, he will have a catalog that will rival even Stephen King.

Nick (cykoduck) | 26 comments huzzah! Finally finished book 13 this past summer...can't wait

Ryan Curtis (kingtriton92) | 62 comments I started reading this series at age 15 and am now 36. Glad I will get to finish it before my children are bearded and grey.

message 16: by Dave (new)

Dave Wood (pocket7976) I've tried reading the first book a few times but have never gotten into it - maybe with the final book coming out I'll give this mammoth series on more go.

message 17: by terpkristin (new)

terpkristin | 4407 comments I've read the entire series (and most of the books more than once). Right now I'm "rereading" by listening to the books as I fall asleep as night. Sounds odd, but each night I start with the next audiobook chapter and make my way through the books. Not as good as a complete re-read but I'll probably end going back through Encyclopaedia WoT before I read A Memory of Light anyway...
