Please read the rules for nominating BEFORE you create your post!! And check our bookshelves to be sure you are not nominating something we have already read as a group!

The categories going forward will remain as follows (based on your feedback):

Cat1- Regular Fiction/Non-Fiction
Cat2- Classics

In order for a novel to count as "Classic" it must be published pre-1980.

Please do not nominate a book more than once. A book can only be voted on once, so multiple nominations within this thread are not counted.

Only ONE nomination per person.
If you nominate a book for catagory 1, you CANNOT nominate a book for catagory 2, and visa versa.

Please be sure to post the title, author, and the catagory it belongs to.

Ideally, you can type it as follows -
Cat 1. Room - Emma Donoghue

If your post does not have those three things, it will not be counted.

Are you ready?

I will accept nominations through Tuesday evening. If we get tons of nominations, I may pull the plug on it a little early, so get them in as soon as you can!

Once I close nominations I will create the polls and let you know when it is time to vote!

Hit us with your best noms!

**Important note: At no time is it acceptable for an author to nominate one of his/her own books for the monthly group read. Likewise, it is not acceptable to "push" nominations or votes within this group. It also follows that "a nomination for a nomination" is not acceptable. If I suspect a push, or inappropriate actions have taken place within the group read nominations or votes, I reserve the right to deem those nominations or votes as ineligible.

Cat 1. Behind the Hood - Marita A. Hansen

PS. I'm new to nominating in this group so I don't know how to add that first bit in with my name and number of comments. I nominated this book for another group and the author was really nice and answered our questions.

Hahah! I love how you guys are editing each other's nominations :) You so totally rock!!!

Once your comment has been edited, it totally counts!

There are still some (not naming names, check to see if it's you) who have more than one nomination, and others who do not have all of the requirements!!! Eeek!

Clark - I strongly discourage authors from self-nominating. This is for members to nominate books that they would like to read and discuss together as a group. When an author self-nominates, in a way they are saying "read my book"...

Ok.. I smell a ruse. And it's beginning to upset me. I think what upsets me most is that I'm being taken advantage of.

As a long standing, member driven literary group, I truly hope that I am wrong, but I severely doubt it, because I have seen this happen here again and again.

I am going to ask that all non-genuine nominations be removed from this thread.

I do not host monthly group reads nominations so they can be weighted, or so that nominations can be "snuck" in. Abuse of the nomination thread may lead to the mis-user's being blocked from the group. It could also lead to the end of group reads for TNBBC.

While that would upset me greatly to no end, I simply do not have time to monitor and address all "false" nominations or attempts to "pollute" the pool.

Feel free to send me a private message if you are unsure of whether this pertains to you, or if you wish to discuss the cause of the "false" nominations.
