really ? there's going to be another one ? oh , god , that's great news ! :D
THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR !

Alexia Because he does.

Wendy I was so mad!! I thought that at the very least they would kiss or Arya would say that she loves him! But NO! Apparently they'll never meet again and Eragon will be lonely forever! UGH! That's why now I'm hoping that Arya will leave Ellesmera to act like an ambassador or something so they can meet again.

Gosh person. Don't swear. Not even joking.

I know right?!? I'm a boy but I really would have preferred a more romantic story...Being recently broken up with MY girlfriend made me feel so sympathetic for Eragon because I mea Arya is the love of his life! :( I wish Paolini continues with some other novels that connect and make them be together again :'( Their love needs to get going somewhere not just dissolve because of their respective duties as a rider and queen!

Joonki Jin OMG like I couldn't stop thinking about Eragon losing the love of his life... 3 (As a boy :S) They are obviously mean for each other and as the previous comments say, Arya should have done something more before parting.

Alexia I know, right?! Finally someone who understands!!!!!!!!

Joonki Jin *sigh* I personally thought that the book was good and enjoyable in every other way...If a sweet romantic ending would have topped it off it would have been a genuinely polished ending... :( I really want Christopher Paolini to know that is a necessity for a person like Eragon. He cried a painful loving tear 3 :'( aaaannnd even Arya loves Eragon.! <3<3<3 God i wanna write my own ending just for the two of them ㅠ.ㅠ

Alexia DON'T SWEAR!!!!!!!!!

Joonki Jin I'm sorry i didn't mean too.. guess i got carried away :"( but omg...sigh

Alexia *sigh*

Joonki Jin if there was like anyway i could talk to Christopher Paolini... :( he should finish other books he writes with a good and lasting relationship
i hope he knows how romance should be finished for not just audience but the future of ERagon within the story!!! :S

Joonki Jin stttilll it waas the best book ii ever read and no one can change the ending now since it is revealed lol... is it just me??? or do other ppl regret finishing the book... ahahah i warlike best book EVAR but its finished now... u can't feel that sensation anymore :'(

another great series has come to an end... ='(

Joonki Jin ahaha yeapp but i really wish he starts something in the point of view from a new rider and he talks about his teacher being Eragon and Saphira! that wold be amazing then like he can say "my teacher went back to being with queen arya" <3<3<3<3

Joonki Jin thanks for all the ppl who agree and understand met~~ <3

Chad The ending sucked. It was a huge disappointment. However, with that said the other 800 pages of the book were great. I loved the entire story just wish more effort and thought would have gone into the ending.

Alexia I can understand all of your point of views, but I have to say he was clever when he created the almost-romance between Eragon and Arya. It wasn't rushed into anything, it developed slowly. However, I still wish it would have gone further!!!!

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

I feel like there was so much going on in the series that having an open, romantic relationship between Eragon and Arya would have been too much. Also, so many books today have a romantic subplot for the main character that always works out perfectly, and that really irritates me. I like that Arya and Eragon's relationship didn't work out, it was something different.

Lu Yes, I mean, that ending was amazing and understandable but my fangirl side is utterly disappointed :(

Alexia Exactly what I mean.

Laura I just finished the book and it was really good but I think that Arya should have at least kissed Eragon on the cheek kinda like she did when he went to the old dragon rider city and found the eggs and eldunarí... that would of been very satisfying... other than that I liked the way they parted and I still think that they will see each other again...

Alexia GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! My Mom is reading it right now, and it's so hard not to tell her everything!! There's so much to tell!

message 75: by Ben (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ben B meh it wasn't supposed to be a love story

Alexia Boys.

Keegan When I finished the book... I wanted to strangle Christopher. I wanted to bash his head repeatedly into a bucket of snarglepuff. HOW COULD HE KILL OFF QUEEN ISLANZADI LIKE THAT?!?!?! She was the queen of the frikken elves!! You'd think she'd be a bit more protected?! Ughh.... And as for Arya and Eragon, they should have had sex and had a beautiful baby boy and lived happily ever after SOMEHOW.

Joonki Jin NOW EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS :D:D:D we should go to christopher paolini's house and tell him to write another book or series that end Arya and Eragon together~~ @Keegan - i completely agree with literally every word you said about the romance part

message 79: by Chad (new) - rated it 3 stars

Chad It was a total punt the way he dealt with Ayra. Boom all the sudden she is the new queen and a rider. It just didn't flow with the other parts of the story. The rider part, I saw that coming, but her as the Queen sorry and very little development for that part of the story. Let alone she is to have no training as a rider. It was just a way to end the story quickly. That is what I meant by putting more thought into the ending.

Alexia Keegan wrote: "When I finished the book... I wanted to strangle Christopher. I wanted to bash his head repeatedly into a bucket of snarglepuff. HOW COULD HE KILL OFF QUEEN ISLANZADI LIKE THAT?!?!?! She was th..."

No matter what, he's going to keep it clean. Or else I won't read it.

Ben B wrong reply sorry

Alexia ?????

message 84: by Zain (new) - added it

Zain Well, the ideal for me would be that Arya went off with Eragon. That would have been amazing. But in these circumstances, what should have happened was that at the end, they would have whispered each other's true names to each other, but not because they told each other before. no, because they so deeply loved each other that they knew each other so intimately. now that would have really made a classic ending

but guys remember the dragon knuckle bones that the herbalist cast for him? it said long journey of no return. and Arya couldn't just leave her duties as a dragon rider/queen of elfs, she is the third one, and all. But i spoke to christopher at his book sighning and told him that the ending is horrible, and he said he was thinking about writing a book with all the unfinished stories in it. like Arya and Eragon, and the fact whats so special about the Orchid, and such

I really agree to you. If it is not that I ammistaken, I also think that Arya and Eragon could have lived together. So i think this is forced end to make an sequel or tell us there can be unsettled end in adult's world or to make this a saga.
first At Eragon book in Eragon's dream the atmosphere of the dream is that Eragon and Arya leaving together with others left. second islanzadi's death is sudden and Arya should have gotten training from Eragon as Oromis said in Brisingr.
third is that in chapter Firnen Arya tells that the reason that she became queen is not entirely that she was Rider or princess - she just ambiguously says that their politics is complicated and the reason is not obvious. so it is forced by saying that their politics is complicated so she also doesnt know exactly why she became queen. Are you joking??

fourth Eragon said that it is not fair that Rider to be parted and Arya replied that cause he has royalty to men and dwarves so it is only fair that elves have Rider and dragon but it can be solved by Eragon giving royalty to the elves too. Also she said that power of the elves are waning so she needs to lead them like Nasuada but she can say that she will return to their duties as Rider after that- it is also her duty now and she never abandones duty and it can not be that she rules forever right??-
(p.s) she also said cause Rider's numbers is small so they can't stand alone but it is also their duty( predessors of Riders) to begin their new generation though there will be a few only, right and that is what Eragon does isnt it?? Going alone leaving those whom you know ot protect Eldunaries and so on. Arya becomes queen even though her words contradicts herself?? It is not her style nor Paolini's style. Maybe there should be Oromis to say this or what are Glader or Umaroth doing??why cant I find them talking about Arya and new dragon ?? wasnt that they all hoped for?? A new dragon and Rider ?? And I think if it was I who was before reading Inheritance, it must have seemed absolute that A new Rider follows Eragon (also Murtagh) and old dragons should have had tears about them.
I was too long but I wanna say that Paolini wrote wonderful series excluding the part starting from Garbatorix's death and that part ruined and it's hard for me to read again but I at least be satisfied by conclusion of great series and Eragon and Others will have their own happy life

ps. It seems like to me this resembles the end of the Lord of the rings though CP ' one is not natural end it 's just forced end considering that Lord of the Ring was sad but it was somewhat differnt sadness. this is unclean and Ring was fresh.

Cinderela im sad about it - i was a bit let down by the ending. i guess it really surprised me even though Angela had foretold it.

i kind of feel like Paolini wanted to get away from the idea of "YA" books and thats why he didn't include anything.
I'm not sure what would have made it better but I was disappointed in the ending. It was just blah to me and nothing exciting nor do i feel satisfied.

Cinderela Mary wrote: "i hate christopher paolini so much right now . -.-'' how could he ? :'c"

agreed

waiiiit ... say what? new books??!??

Cinderela I don't really get this "they can't be together nonsense" oh he had to be far away for the eggs and oh her politics. I mean do they really love each other or what. Its not like humans or eleves don't love; and while Arya was in love once before with Fiolin, its clear she has grown to love Eragon too. So whats the deal. I mean no promise to keep in touch. NOTHING! Thats what I don't get. Just her lifting up her stupid arm and her stupid green dragon carrying her away. Oww by the way Christopher. Carrying her by her arm.. Kind of weird although I can kind of picture it.
