I still remember our teacher reading short stories to us from O. Henry and Kahlil Gibran, being his favourites..
I think the best short story that he recited was The Last Leaf by O. Henry.. I think you should check O. Henry and Kahlil Gibran if you can simplify them and still keep its profoundness while you get it embedded into those innocent minds..
