Graves pomes recall are war pomes - and WWOne - so not sure how appealing to you. But its poignancy for me is timeless.
But do try his Greek Gods and Heroes, Greek Myths, I, Claudius.
If you can continue in the Greek a la mode - dont miss Odysseus!!!!!
Usually goes with Iliad.

Hi everyone! I've just finished VS Naipaul's Among the Believers and am now reading Mark Manson's The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck.

I have just finished reading the ARC for Artemis - Andy Weir's new book. Another fun, absorbing and realistic science fiction novel in the same vein of The Martian but it's not a reboot (thank goodness!)
Guys can yall reccommend me a poetry book. that i will appreciate as a person who usually don't get poems? The last poem i was into was the lord of the rings one lol.

Are you looking at a book full of poems or just a book with a bit of poems in between a story?
I would recommend any of the books by RM Drake if you are looking for just a book full of poems. If you prefer a book with some poems in between the story, "The Peculiar Life of a Lonely Postman" by Denis Thériault is good. I am currently reading the sequel. :)

I really enjoyed The War Poems. I did not use to enjoy poetry but I decided to give this one a shot. Next thing I knew... wow...

My mom just got me two of Robert Grave's books so I'm planning to read those next after I finish Skin and Other Stories
If you're interested in poetry why not try a local poet? One of my favourites is Alfian Sa'at. He has three poetry collections - One Fierce Hour, a History of Amnesia and The Invisible Manuscript.

The TerrorJust completed "The Terror" by Dan Simmons, historical fiction based on John Franklin's lost expedition to find the Northwest Passage in 1845. Currently there is a TV series of the same name airing on AMC.
I have not been active for the past few years in reading , really miss reading. although i read few books . my love for books is coming back. I just read finish A HIGHER LOYALTY by James Comey ( Former FBI Director) I don't read non-fictions but times changes and i really need to read it !! Now i am reading Fire and Fury by Michael Wolf. Another Politic book about trump administration. Nothing makes me more happy than reading!!!
So finished reading Fire and Fury by Michael Wolf. A crazy world run by crazy people. Loved the book. So now reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I always read books that I am not disappointed in. Choose books wisely. I don't typically like movie adaption of books. Most of them don't live up to the books. Reading books is way-way better.
Done with Gone Girl by Gillain Flynn. So loved it. Now going to read The Martian by Andy Weir. I did watch the movie before. See how the book goes. 9/ 70 books completed. See how far can I go. Anyone wants to be friends do add me. Want to talk and meet up if u like.
So I finished reading The Martian by Andy Weir . I finished this book in 2 days which I hardly finish any books. All I can say was i like how someone can be trapped in Mars alone.... Loved it , can't say it way better. Now going to read The Orphan Keeper by Camron Wright
So I finished reading The Orphan Keeper by Camron Wright. It was on my shelve and I didn't read the Synopsis when I borrowed the book. I read his other book and throught of reading this. Wasn't disappointed but sometimes didn't like it too , how a country can be so rotten and their cultures not to my liking . But I still liked the novel ! Easy fast read. Now I reading The Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. This novel is very very articulated and immersive. Taking time to read each pages. 100/462 done.
So , I'm done with The Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. I am really impressed how the author wrote a story so profoundly , every small detailed to it's core. Now will read Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Looking forward to what happens.

Took me days to complete The Robot of Gotham by Todd McAulty. I would say it's a monstrous book. Good story too , waiting for the sequel if it ever comes out. Now going to read All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven.
Finished reading " All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven". I have to say I didn't know much about why it's a popular book despite the plot being about suicidal. I really had no idea the author will talk about mental illness to such an extent. Now reading " In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl's Journey to Freedom by Yeonmi Park".4th non-fiction book.
Done reading " In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl's Journey to Freedom by Yeonmi Park". All I have to say is she endured such hardship to freedom yet we will complain about small things !! Whatever she did, I bet none of us faced anything that will make us take our own life. Mental and physical pain that isn't I can explain in words. Now going to read " Champion by Marie Lu". Get the leftover series I have yet to complete.
I reduced the number of books from 100 to 30 books for my goodreads book reading challenge. Feeling quite bad about it but what to do? In this busy Singapore, I have absolutely no time for a good book and feeling frustrated explaining to my in-laws and husband about my personal time I require to read a good book.. I'm not asking much but always tend to get the "look" from others as if I'm wasting time and being too self absorbed because I like to read a book.Well, I have managed to find excuses to read, or at least listen to good audiobooks over the years...
Currently just finished Listening to the audiobook "Oathbringer" by Brandon Sanderson 2 days ago and looking forward for more to complete my 30 books in the year of 2018.
Finished reading "Champion by Marie Lu" yesterday, 4 pm. I literally forgot what happened to last two books. Dystopian novel and love the writing style !! I always pick books without reading synopsis much of it since it's already on my shelves. One of her series is done. Going to read other Series of hers. Now reading " City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare. " Book 5 of The Mortal Instruments Series. I am lost what happened in the last 4 books too. The last book I read was in 2013. That was 5 years ago!! Looking forward to it.
Been so long since I completed my novel. Was busy with exams. Done reading " City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare". Not bad but wish the author stop writing about love scenes over and over again and more about the plot. I ordered this novel and going to read it now. " The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas". No paperback at nlb. Heard it's the best book of 2017. Can't wait to read it !!
Loved " The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas". American police's brutality is way crazy than SG. Hoping she will write more novels !! Her style of writing is my favourite. Now going to read " The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss ". Fantasy novel! Been a long time since I last read a fantasy book.
I just finished reading " The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss ". I just have to say this is truly one of the best novels I have ever read in my life. Truly an epic fantasy masterpiece. I wish all of you will read his books soon. I am just grateful to the person who on Youtube who recommended this. I wish Game of Thrones is like this since I will read it this year.

I just finished the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb and it was so good I can't wait to start on the Liveship Trilogy.
Finished reading " The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons ". Didn't know the story took place in Russia during the world war. Also, lots of explicit stories, don't know if that was necessary but the story and how it was written, liked it! Now reading "The Cruel Prince by Holly Black".
I'm halfway through This Is What Inequality Looks Like by Prof Teo. Remarkably written, very insightful.

Just finished the latest novel by Jonathan Letham "The Feral Detective"
Hi there, I have just finished 'Raffles and the golden opportunity' by Victoria Glendinning.As far as historical biographies go, it's a great introduction to some of the history of Singapore and the surrounding regions. Glendinning provides plenty of background information, ensuring you get a good feel for what life was like way back then. She clearly enjoyed her topic, and my favourite line has to be her comment: "Be careful what you wish for"!
There were two aspects to the book which really hooked me in: (1) material on Raffles' interesting wives and family life was included - some of it intriguing, some of it indescribably sad; (2) a blow-by-blow account of Raffles' unhappy and often petty relationship with the Resident, William Farquhar.
All in all, I'm not very taken with Raffles, however much he has been lauded. He did some undeniably admirable things, but also is something of a disappointment, especially in light of the Farquhar fiasco.
This book is much more than a biography. Read it! You won't be disappointed!!
'The Selfish Gene' by Richard Dawkins.Nope, doesn't work for me. I know that Dawkins is an authoritative figure in the field of evolution, but I just can't get into this book. Why? I'm going to make a topic to explain.
