I love the completely plain, silvery grey covers of Persephone books(a bit paler and more silver than it looks on this picture). The paper is beautifully smooth and there is even a dustjacket - on a paperback! Then when you open the cover there is a lovely textile design on the endpapers:

5.7 - Third Stone from the SunThe third volume in the Good Earth Trilogy:
A House Divided by Pearl S. Buck
I loved this trilogy, although I wouldn't say it was an easy read. The examination of the tensions between modernisation and cultural tradition seems as relevant tody as it was in the 1930s when it was written. It really made me think, and I was emotionally engaged as well.
