#6 Oh, can't wait to here your thoughts as I'm wondering if they are the same as mine!
Did you get it right?

1. There wasn’t too much recap from the previous book/novella; I imagine it would be hard to pick up this volume and jump into the story, wouldn’t you say? Are you remembering everything? Do you have any questions? Comments? This is an excerpt from “Beat of Temptation,” the short story in An Enchanted Season :
The (Silence) Protocol itself arose out of the overwhelming incidence of insanity and serial killing in the Psy populace. Driven to the edge, the Psy made a choice. They conditioned their young to feel nothing—not jealousy, not rage, and definitely not joy at the thought of Christmas morning.”
No, it didn't take me long to get back into this world. I have to say that I like that we haven't had a huge recap of what has happened.
2. What do you think of Faith NightStar so far? Doesn’t her childhood just break your heart? I like my solitude, but she has been isolated; there’s a difference, wouldn’t you say? Were you surprised she jumped the fence – literally! Do you believe a lot of her coldness is conditioning or just innate to her species? Back in our Real World, Elephants have started to be born without tusks and many scientists believe this is a survival technique, since they have been hunted to almost extinction b/c of them. In Romanclandia, it has been decades since the Silence was imposed. So, my “nature vs. nurture” question is this: how long does the evolutionary change take to occur? Has it already happened with most of the Psy? With Faith?
I like Faith. I think her coldness is conditioning. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the Council knows that they really can't eliminate all emotions, especially in the cardinals, and they are using scare tactics into making them think there's something wrong with them when they start feeling. I may be waaaay off base on that, but that's where my head is right now.
3. The members of the Psy-Council are considering Faith for replacement Councilor. Will they come after her if she doesn’t return in time? Even if she gets back in time, will her “escape” make them reevaluate her as a candidate, or make them want to “recondition” her all the more?
I think Faith is too valuable for them not to come after her and recondition her if she doesn't return.
4. It is early days yet; however, which part of Vaughn is more attracted to Faith: the jaguar or the man? Or is it both, equally? What do you think of him “pushing” her by touching her so frequently and sensually?
I think it's equal. I love that he wants to touch her all the time. Especially after finding out that when they found him he needed almost constant touch for the first few weeks. It helped to heal him and I think he feels it will help "heal" Faith.
5. I really like that Lucas and Sascha have more than “walk-on” parts to play in this episode of the series. You? So many authors have favorite characters from previous books just make an appearance, or sometimes, act in a completely different manner (at least, IMHO). This is like a little part of the continuation of their story. Or does this bug you? Comments.
I like that Sascha and Lucas are making an appearance and not just a walk on role. I think since Lucas is alpha and Sascha is the first psy to leave and join a pack that they'll have roles in most of the books. Seems logical.
6. At first I thought Faith was picking up on our hero, Vaughn D’Angelo, but quickly realized there was more to it. This “darkness” seems to be able to manifest into physical form. Whatever the hell it is, do you predict it will be Psy, changeling, human, or other?
I think it will be psy since it taps into her brain. It's kind of creepy.
7. The whole scene with the coffee made me laugh, showing Faith as a bit of a “princess.” I wonder when Vaughn will stop indulging her—or will he? Do you have a favorite scene or quote yet?
I don't think he'll stop indulging her. I get the impression he wasn't one who indulged anyone in the first place, so for him to do this is a big deal and it probably won't stop.
8. How do you feel about Vaughn calling Faith “Red”? Have you ever had a nickname that you did or didn’t like?
I like that he calls her Red :) As for a nickname I've had that I didn't like...I was known as Poodle all through junior high. I have naturally curly hair and we had NO air conditioning and lived in HUMID south Louisiana. SO you can imagine how frizzy my hair was LOL Later in high school I was called Casper cause I'm very pale. I've been out of high school for 20 years and I still get called Casper by some of my close friends from then.

Did you get..."
LOL, no. I almost never do. =)

#1 – Yes, I like that there isn’t a lot of recap. The year before Jean M. Auel’s final book in the Earth’s Children series came out I re-read them all in high anticipation. I mean, it spanned decades of writing… only to find out that the first half of the book is re-cap; I still haven’t read it.
#2 – I’m out on that limb with you, Susan!
#3 – Yeah, I think they’ll come after her.
#4 – Oh, I had forgotten that about him needing almost constant touch; good point.
#5 – Great! I love Lucas and Sascha.
#6 – It is creepy. **shivers** I’m not liking that part at all! Especially that (view spoiler)
#7 – Good. I think she needs a little of the right kind of indulging.
#8 – Well, you’ll always be SusieQ in my mind. ☺

9. One of the things I rolled my eyes over was Faith’s aunt. As a nurse, I know they surely would have put in teeth guards and mitts on her hands to protect her from her fingernails. This is, I’m sure, an example of my profession pulling me out of a book. Has that ever happened with you when you read a book?
10. Do you think the NetMind, the one that paused when Faith was surfing the PsyNet in Chapter 8, reported her to someone on the Council? Is that why Shoshanna showed up? Or did she just show up because of the opening on the Council?
11. What do you think of Faith’s father, Anthony? Do you think he has any feelings toward her? Is he only out for himself?
12. In Chapter 11 Vaughn suggests that Faith learn to control her dark visions, something the PsyClan has told her she cannot do. Is he giving her good advice?
13. I really, really
14. I really, really
15. How dangerous is this Kaleb Krychek to Faith?

13. I absolutely hated that , specially the one dream that Vaughn got her out. The way the killer wants to show her things as if he knows she is watching.
14. I love that too . It might have been better if it was even slower.

#9 - LOL! Glad I'm not alone.
#13 - Creep factor off the charts, IMHO.
#14 - Yes, when it accelerated, it really took off.

It happens sometimes. And on the rare occasion that it does, I usually have a hard time getting back into the book right away.
10. Do you think the NetMind, the one that paused when Faith was surfing the PsyNet in Chapter 8, reported her to someone on the Council? Is that why Shoshanna showed up? Or did she just show up because of the opening on the Council?
I think Shoshanna showed up because of the opening on the Council. I think the mind shadowing her is either the darkness or someone who doesn't want her on the Council.
11. What do you think of Faith’s father, Anthony? Do you think he has any feelings toward her? Is he only out for himself?
I think Anthony has feelings for her. I don't remember Sascha's mother being this kind to her and helping her the way Anthony is helping Faith.
12. In Chapter 11 Vaughn suggests that Faith learn to control her dark visions, something the PsyClan has told her she cannot do. Is he giving her good advice?
I think he is giving her good advice. She's learned to control the other visions so it stands to reason she could control these.
13. I really, really dislike hate that the “darkness” is making Faith not only witness but “feel” its pleasure in killing. It has caused me to put the book down a couple of times. You?
I do not like that it makes her feel it.
14. I really, really like love the slow sensual bond that is developing between Vaughn and Faith. Or is it too slow for you?
I like it. Does Vaughn realize they're mates? I kind of got the feeling that he does. I'll be honest and say that I kind of teared up when he stopped her while the were on the porch. He knew it was too much for her and she was loosing control. It was very sweet and romantic in a very frustrating way LOL
15. How dangerous is this Kaleb Krychek to Faith? I'm not sure yet. Does he even know that Faith is another option for the seat on the Council?

#10 – I’m hoping that is all. She’s pretty dangerous. I have something else to say about the NetMind, but it might be a spoiler, so I’ll wait to put it in a question.
#11 – I get the feeling he is more “loving” toward her than Sascha’s mother, Nikita Duncan, was; however, I don’t trust many of the Psy.
#12 – I agree!
#13 – Über creepy.
#14 – I think his realization is coming. I was just like, “No, don’t stop!” You’re a better person than I am, Susan, LOL!
#15 – I don’t know if he knows or not, but I wouldn’t put it past him or those who sponsor him.

I'm not sure if yet if I'm willing to risk being shunned in order to jump into the next. lol

How about you?

I think this is one I'll definitely get from audible.com - eventually.
Here is my review:
Vaughn D’Angelo in jaguar form.

★★★★✩ I liked this one, the second in the Psy-Changeling series; but not as much as the first. Don’t get me wrong; four stars are impressive. And I LOVE this author’s “voice”. I’m almost tempted to bump it up to 4½ stars. However, I had to put it down for a couple days. The “darkness” – or The Über Creep – that was plaguing Faith was a little too dark for me right now. Maybe I’ll listen to this on audio in about a year and I’ll love it. There were a couple other things that bugged me: (view spoiler) . But none of these “things-bugging-me” were the chemistry and relationship between Vaughn and Faith; they made for a hot couple!

#1 – I agree. I think it might be a little more difficult for those who haven’t read the series. Glad she doesn’t do too much recap, as I read the first book, StS, twice. Well, listened to the audio of the first one to count as twice.
#2 –I think you’re right!
#3 – Hmmmm. Again, I think you might be right. Their scene gave off a very dark vibe.
#5 – Me too! Looks like L & S won’t, and we’ll just get a continuation of their story.
#7 – I like that “highest compliment” comment too.
#8 – True, if they love you. Did you jump a lot as a kid? ☺
