Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments Busy cheating from everyone's lists and making mine. ;) Be back soon.

Even with the cheating, its such a laborious task. Phew!! :(

Anne (reachannereach) Pragya,

what a great list. I noticed The Beautiful Mrs. Seidenman. That is one of my favorite books. Very different and very special. You have many books on your list that I have read or plan to read. Don't know how you will get through your list while working on a Ph.D., but good look trying......D)

message 3: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments Thank you Anne! I would love more comments on your read books to help me decide one book from each country instead of loads that I have now.

Well, I know, but I'm glad my Ph.D. starts May 2012, so I intend to read a lot of books apart from preparing for the Ph.D. entrance, starting right now! :)

message 5: by Anne (new)

Anne (reachannereach) Well, if you really want comments, I will make them. The first thing I will say is that you may be disappointed in your choice for USA, The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. It was very disappointing to me and to others, though some people did like it. I think you could do better. That's my first thought.

message 6: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments Umm, I'm sorry, but I have "The story of Edgar Sawtelle" in my list? I can't seem to find it under USA. I guess the list is so long, I have lost track of it. I will keep your suggestion in mind.

message 7: by Anne (new)

Anne (reachannereach) Oops. I must have seen it earlier today on someone else's list. My mistake.

message 8: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments No problem.

message 9: by Anne (new)

Anne (reachannereach) I have a lot of choices of my list. I think I'll chose as I go, depending on my mood. I like to have options.

message 10: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments I am thinking the same regarding choices. So I have both lists here.. the shorter and the longer one. Let's see..

message 11: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie Pragya, isn't it nice with all those choices?! You can pick a book that fits your mood! I did it that way too.

message 12: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments Yes it certainly is Chrissie! :)

message 13: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments Barry, forgive me, I broke a rule. I haven't linked the books. I will soon, I promise, don't throw me out of the group.

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 1309 comments Pragya - I added your selections on the shorter list to the master list, but don't let that stop you from venturing outside of it!

message 15: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments You don't need to add anything. I completely stole from the master list, Jenny. :D

message 16: by Niledaughter (new)

Niledaughter Wow , so many choices :D

message 17: by Parsa (new)

Parsa | 101 comments lol so many choices! I should do the same it would be helpful :D

message 18: by mussolet (new)

mussolet (sovotchka) | 115 comments Lol. Having that many choices should be rather helpul. Just don't buy them all at once or your wallet won't like it at all ;):

Good luck with your Ph.D. I'm doing NaNoWriMo next month along with my diploma thesis, I think it's better to be stressed out, so both things will go more smoothly for me ;). But it's good to read a book now and then, so you won't go mad just working on your Ph.D. Good idea for a break ;).

Yup so many choices so that I don't go broke. I am thinking of either borrowing from a library or download, can't afford to buy so many books with my student status. Thank you for your wishes. Good luck to you too!

message 20: by Sue (new)

Sue Pragya, I may have missed it, but did you say what the area is you are working for your PhD?

It will be fun every once in a while, to share thoughts on what we all read. Maybe we will have to schedule a week or 2 at the end of next year for catching up.

Well, Sue, I am due to start on my Ph.D. next year. I haven't decided on a topic yet but it will be within the realm of Clinical Psychology. Since I am going to be really busy next year, I am going to start right away.

Oh yes, certainly it will be fun to share thoughts.

message 22: by Sue (new)

Sue Good luck with that Pragya.

message 23: by Anne (new)

Anne (reachannereach) Now there's a thesis topic!

I think you're right. Her profs won't believe it until they see it for themselves.

It's clinical psychology. I don't know what it means elsewhere, but where I come from it means that when her profs come here they'll be astounded to find such sane people compared to themselves ;). Here, psychologists are the first people in line for a psychological treatment. Good books can help with that ;).

Pragya, good luck to you.

Thanks Judy! Such an awesome thesis idea. I just hope my profs don't shoot themselves and who knows they may admit me for having hallucinations of such people existing.

Haha. Pragya. Make sure you show your profs this GR group and our Master list - that should save you from a Psych admission. Phew! Hope your profs don't shoot themselves. Where I did my degree there weren't enough to go around when it came to thesis time. Maybe you shouldn't mention us after all. You need to keep your advisors alive and healthy so that you can get your thesis done. D))

message 29: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments I like your last idea considering not much profs take on Ph.D. students even now. Better to save my my life and my to-be-started-on Ph.D. :D

I have a copy if you want it? Eventually I will have to give almost all my books away when I move back to Australia and I'd prefer to pay to send them to people that will love them rather than get rid of them.

message 40: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments Really? You are willing to send it so far away to me? Oh my, thank you so much. I would love that but only if it's not too costly for you.
