Carina Tabboo???
Well dang, Isa. Now I'm interested too! haha

It's detailed which slowed things down some but it intrigued me. Then it frustrated me. Then it angered me. Now, it's stuck in my head. If you're into lit-ry fiction, try this.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I just read your review, Isa. I'm going to try to get my hands on a copy of that because I want to read it BADLY.

It took me forever to get my thoughts down... Not everyone is going to love the pace but I did. It's detailed, slow, and emotional: joyful early on, confused a lot.. then eventually defiant.

message 155: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I really love YA books that deal with real life issues, and this sounds really amazing. I don't mind slower paces, with this kind of book. If it's too fast you're not getting the gravity of the situation.

message 156: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments This is one of those books that I've been hesitant to read but also think that I'd end up really liking if I just went ahead and started it. The problem is all the other books jumping ahead of it. Your recommendation definitely helps its case.

message 157: by Carina (new)

Carina Wow that does sound good Isa. And your review was great!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Welcome to the group Hannah. :)

Feu d'Issey (Laura) (feudisseylaura) | 3 comments Hi Carrie! Have you tried something by Lauren Oliver? Also Jessica Warman - I have only read one book of hers (Between) but definitely have her down as an author to follow.

Isamlq | 612 comments I don't know if this is self-pub, but it's NA and I've been looking for books like this for a long while now! It's an emotional read and could be construed as melodramatic but it worked for me in the same way that The Storyteller did.

You guys should too...

Devin Smyth (devin_smyth) | 1 comments Have you read Spin? It has a pretty complex plot that involves time outside of earth's atmosphere accelerating. But it also has rich characterization as well as intrigue with competing interests trying to take advantage of the situation.

message 162: by Paddy (new)

Paddy Sg | 4 comments I enjoyed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling entire series
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien everything by J.R.R Tolkien, in love with elves, or maybe Orlando Bloom ;)
Iora & the Quest of Five by Arefa Tehsin enjoyed it, and its hopefully 1st book in a great series to come.

Didn't enjoy The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins series.

Any suggestion on what should I read next?

message 163: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) LOL, how about the Lumatere Chronicles?

Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles #1) by Melina Marchetta Froi of the Exiles (Lumatere Chronicles, #2) by Melina Marchetta Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) by Melina Marchetta

It seems like you enjoy fantasy. I'm reading the last one in the trilogy, and I think they're amazing. The first was good, the second was unbelievable.

message 164: by Isamlq (new)

Isamlq | 612 comments Oh yes, try Finn and Froi!

And perhaps
The Demon King (Seven Realms, #1) by Cinda Williams Chima The Exiled Queen (Seven Realms, #2) by Cinda Williams Chima The Gray Wolf Throne (Seven Realms, #3) by Cinda Williams Chima as well, the next book comes out soonish

Hi Wendy. Thanks for the recommendation :) It sounds like a interesting series, I have added it to my to-read list. Will keep you posted on how I found it to be.

Hey Isamlq, Seven Realms sounds somewhat similar to Lord of the rings. I'm definitely looking forward to taking it up.

message 167: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments The Seven Realms books are awesome! And the last one comes out in a couple of weeks.

message 168: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 7 comments Hey everyone !! I'm hoping someone can help I'm looking for a ya book that is written in guy and girl pov and super romantic. Im in a mushy mood and need a romance fix . Thanks so much for your help !
P.s im not into the historical

message 169: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments The only boy + girl POV books that are romancey that I can think of off of the top of my head would be something like Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn . (Dash & Lily is really cute.)

I can think of many books with the boy+girl POV but none where the romance is the main focus are coming to mind. I will have to think on it more and come back to add stuff later maybe.

The Seven Realms books are boy+girl POV and have some romance, but it's a slow progressing thing. It's kinda hard to explain the romance in these because there are a lot of obstacles. But I like it.
The Demon King (Seven Realms, #1) by Cinda Williams Chima The Exiled Queen (Seven Realms, #2) by Cinda Williams Chima The Gray Wolf Throne (Seven Realms, #3) by Cinda Williams Chima The Crimson Crown (Seven Realms, #4) by Cinda Williams Chima

Hillary (eledri) | 759 comments She's So Dead to Us (He's So/She's So, #1) by Kieran Scott He's So Not Worth It (He's So/She's So, #2) by Kieran Scott This Is So Not Happening (He's So/She's So, #3) by Kieran Scott

I cannot remember if it really was guy/girl pov in the first book, but the later I do remember it being guy/girl pov.

I know more but I will have to ponder it further. My brain hasn't fully recovered from work yet.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments A lot of Abbi Glines' contemporary romance has a male/female PoV switch. The reason why I remember this is because her guys are always thinking about the girls' asses. They're okay books (I'm not a big fan but she's very popular with romance readers) - heavy on the romance and angst if you like that extreme feeling. I hated Breathe, so I'd say skip that one because it doesn't really tie to the other books in the series. Either go right to book 2 of Sea Breeze or start with Vincent Boys.

Iirc, Tammara Webber's - Between The Lines - series also had a rotating male and female PoV and those are romance as well. It's a fun series.

message 172: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments This one could count I guess: Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1) by Katie McGarry .

message 173: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1234 comments On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves is not really YA but it is boy girl POV and one character is teen. It was pretty good and had YA type of romance ( not detailed sex like adult can be)

I loved that series and I'm thrilled to bits that we'll be getting a fourth next year!

Hee! I know. Tammara blogged about it the other day and I have to admit, I squeaked when I saw that. Good For You (Between the Lines, #3) by Tammara Webber left me with such a bad book hangover, it took me a few days to shake it.

Re: your spoiler? She didn't say, but I think so :)

message 177: by Carina (last edited Oct 22, 2012 08:25AM) (new)

Carina I thinnk for super romatic guy/girl PoV, Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater would work.
Sam and Grace are one of my top couples of all times =)

Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Bloodfever (Fever, #2) by Karen Marie Moning Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning

Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series is my favorite, and all of Kay Hooper's Bishop series (there are many of them, usually in trilogies)... I think Stealing Shadows (Bishop/Special Crimes Unit, #1) by Kay Hooper is the first one.

The first few books of JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood are fabulous...but they fell of rapidly after Lover Mine (imho) and I haven't been back.

I really liked On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews but haven't been back to the series.

A lot of people froth at the mouth over Karen Marie Moning's Fever series, and even though I loathed it, it might appeal. *Edited to add: Looking up, I see it's already been rec'd. Knew it would. I'm alone in that particular ocean.

I had to drop this series after Unleashed. Very sad panda.

message 190: by Carina (new)

Carina Aww, that's too bad Libbie, but I can see why its not as appealing as it used to be to others.
I think Wards writting made a huge change in the second half of the series. It almost feels like 2 separate series with books 1-5 as one, and books 6-10 as another.
In books 1-5, books 1 and 2 were the weakest to me and book 3 is probably my fav of the series.
And in books 6-10, book 6 was my least fav of the (complete) series and then book 9 was not as good too. But books 7 and 8 I loved! And book 10 redeemed the series again.
I am very hopeful and extatic for book 11 Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #11) by J.R. Ward !!!!!

message 191: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) They go up and down, but there's always some aspect in the books that I love, myself. I don't think I'll ever stop reading them. And Carina, I can't friggin WAIT for Lover at Last!! Did you see the snippet that Ward posted on Facebook last night?! Talk about a squeee!

I'll second and third Hillary and Carina's picks and also add the Downside Ghost series!

Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane City of Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #3) by Stacia Kane Sacrificial Magic (Downside Ghosts, #4) by Stacia Kane Chasing Magic (Downside Ghosts, #5) by Stacia Kane

message 192: by Carina (new)

Carina What??? What snippet?
Oh man I just realized, I haveen't liked Wards page!!! No wonder I don't get any updates!!
On my way to "Like" it right now!!

BTW, I really want to start the Downside Ghosts series, I just haven't had time to squeeze it in. Just like with the Kate Daniels series =(

message 193: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Oh man! I forgot that one too! Gotta add that! Love Kate Daniels.

Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, #3) by Ilona Andrews Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews Magic Slays (Kate Daniels, #5) by Ilona Andrews

The snippets are awesome, lmao. It's the whole reason I follow her.

Wow, we have a completely opposite take on the series (though I agree, Phury's was one of my least favorites). My favorites are the first three and then it rolled slowly downhill. John Matthew's gave me hope after the meh, but then came the trainwreck and I walked away. Trying to talk about that on her message boards poisoned me further.

I know I'm pretty much alone in this sea as I am in the Fever series and I'm okay with that. Different things float different boats =)

message 200: by Carina (new)

Carina I try to stay away from series dedicated groups or boards because they can get really....um intense.
And I can totally understand and respect that you don't like the series. And I actually like the variation on opinions. =)
