I was trying to add this quote I like from Margaret Coel's book "The Eagle Catcher", but it won't seem to let me add the book, just the author.

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments It added fine for me from the drop down under the author

The second one is a House quote. It's gone.

The first is a quote from Hugh Laurie's book. It stays.

These two are essentially the same quote, only handled slightly differently. They both cut out part of the full passage: "Someday I must read this scholar Everyone, she thought as she bit her tongue to keep from giving a rude answer. He seems to have written so much--all of it wrong." In the first case they just ended the sentence with a period where they cut out part, and included a character attribution. In the second, they put ... where they cut out part. Is there a standard way cutting part of the quote would be handled? Is this a case where they should be combined?

Definitely combine, which I did. I don't know if we have standards for the issues you mentioned.

Anne Patkau | 93 comments When I tried to post quotes for Terry Fallis, I saw his two book titles repeated twice. Now that I am a Librarian, I checked again, but same, 4 titles for two books. I see no way to correct. Do I ask for a "super"? (I added the page number in case they are different editions and that matters).

message 69: by Anne (new)

Anne Patkau | 93 comments A quote by Erle Stanley Gardner starts "Now listen Lam", but the important part I like is "you're a nice egg in the wrong pan" after. I remember the first instead of the important. Should I just post a new quote for the important part, or can it be edited?

I combined the audiobook with the rest for The High Road

But this version of The Best Laid Plans (here) Doesn't have any info and I think needs to be deleted. Here is the rest of the editions:The Best Laid Plans

Experiment BL626 | 358 comments I don't know how to get to the quote's page directly, so I'm just going to have list the quotes on the author's page.

On this page
http://www.goodreads.com/author/quote...

are two quotes:
“I was raised right....to talk about people behind their backs....it's called manners.”

and

“I was raised right - I talk about people behind their backs.”

They're variants of each other. The actual quote should be:

“I was raised right — I talk about people behind their backs. It's called manners.”

message 83: by Ali (new)

Ali Bin | 3 comments I contacted Dalai Lama office regarding this quote

When asked “What thing about humanity surprises you the most?”, the Dalai Lama answered:

“Man…. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

It can be find here....

http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/...

and here is the response i got from them so i'll appreciate if GR can remove this quote or cite the original source.

Dear Mr. Ali Bin Tariq,

Thank you for your email inquiring about this particular quote which has been attributed to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Holiness has made no such remarks, either in speech or in writing. We trust this clarifies it.

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments I don't know if this is a biblical quote or a quote from Toni Morrison's book, but either way I'm pretty sure Song of Solomon did not write itself.

Doubtful. I also doubt it's not older than 1944.

Banjomike | 5166 comments #98 there is a quiz that linmks to this. It refers to "books in the Assassin series by Bella Shadow" and the main character also seems to be Bella.

I think you would need to ask the person who seems to be responsible for all the Bella Shadow stuff on Goodreads.

Stephen (havan) | 330 comments Just merged two John Updike quotes

"Everybody who tells you how to act has whiskey on their breath.”

The only difference was that whiskey was misspelled in one. The number of folks who LIKED the quotes was not added together. Is that correct?
