I'm glad i didn't re-read it before watching the movie. It's been close to 2 years since I read City of Bones, so I didnt catch a lot of the small differences. I liked the movie until the big showdown at the end. They messed that up big time.

Yeah, even if I hadn't read the book recently, I would've caught the ending too. How ridiculous! Why would they change the ending SO much? I mean, I was already pissed at the changes they made from the beginning to the middle. By the end, I was done. Livid. Who knows if there'll be a sequel. It didn't do as well as they thought in the box office. If they do, I won't go watch it.

Well I know people who enjoyed it. But there are a lot of fans that were turned off by the differences and changes they made. They tried to make it better, but they only pissed off their fanbase. I was so sad that I didn't love it-my favorite series of all-time. :(

Annie Brewer (anniebrewer) | 2351 comments I guess I shouldn't have had such high expectations. The director directs mediocre movies and the screenwriter is new, it was their first film. They needed a strong group of people to bring this series to life properly. So sad for Cassie.

Mello ❣ Illium ✮Harry✮ ☀Myrnin☀ Torin Ichimaru | 257 comments I didn't think that they would change anything. I didn't think anything really needed to be changed.

message 30108: by Annie (new)

Annie Brewer (anniebrewer) | 2351 comments That's what I was wondering. Why change a perfectly awesome storyline and add stuff that makes no sense? If you didn't read the books, you'd be lost. There was no explanation of anything, it just jumped from one thing to the next, and the scenes were jumbled, out of order and choppy. I just don't get why they needed to steer so far from the book. Very upsetting!
The ending was the biggest rip off. So mad.

Oh, I'll wait for cable then to see it :( they just keep messing up food books *sigh* hopefully they done mess up Divergent because I LOVED LOVED the book. I guess I'll wait on some reviews before heading to the movies. I've done good this way so far and saved myself a lot of disappointment and frustration with all the awful books to movies lately.

I had heard that they were going to start filming book 2 next month, but with the first not doing as well at the box office, I don't know. I took my 12 year old daughter with me (who hasn't read the books) and she loved it. She's totally hooked now.

Yeah, I'm wondering if they are still gonna make the rest. They didn't even make half of what they were expecting over the weekend. And I read that Cassie "jumped ship" since it did so bad. I'm guessing she's not happy with the turnout. :/

LMAO! I understand. And yes, TID is a bit better. But I won't see that in theater if they actually make them. I would die if they fuck up my Will and Jem! LOVE this series. I'm better off reading the books and saying to hell with all movie adaptations....even of Beautiful Disaster or Divergent and Hush Hush. Unless they get a good director/screenwriter involved

Yeah, Hunger Games was pretty good. I'm anxious about Divergent, I just have a feeling they're going to make a mess of it but it's such a great, unique story.

I just read an article that even though it did poorly in the box office, they'll continue to make the rest of them. Well, I guess I won't be getting excited about it, since I'll just watch them all on DVD. Such a shame they have to ruin such good books that could be amazing! :(

OH I hadnt realized it was doing badly. Thats too bad. I am not a huge fan of the books, they were ok. But I really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was accurate but still better than the book. At least they are already working on part 2, maybe that will help its popular and will lead to all 6 being made.

With TMI, I'm probably in the minority but I thought it was casted really poorly and once the trailer came out I thought it looked like a really lightweight version of the Underworld movies so I never got excited to watch it. I'll probably wait for it to go to Netflix or HBO.

I agree and even from the trailer you can see they messed it up pretty bad. I was never big fan of the series but I hate when they screw up movies. I will also wait for it to come out on DVD. THG was one of the best ones and I really liked the Warm Bodies. Divergent and VA Academy don't look bad but we will see. They better do amazing job on Lux series and Angelfall. Speaking of which, Have you guys seen cover of World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee ? I'm glad they didn't went far from the first cover but this one looks little off to me. You really thought the movie was better? Well as an obsessed TMI fan (of the books I mean), the movie was way off. The ending was every bit wrong and the rest felt like they just threw scenes together out of order and added stuff in the process. I guess if you're not a huge of the series it seems okay. I felt it was poorly executed. I will just catch the rest on DVD which pisses me off since I've waited 2 years to see my favorite series hit the screen. :/

Nope you're not in the minority. I'd say it's mixed. There's a lot of angry fans that saw so many changes when it wasn't necessary. It angers me when they change stuff or leave important details out from the book. :(

Yeah they did screw it up. I couldn't believe the stuff they left out and changed. God I was so excited, hyped up. I even went opening night. And I left pissed off, wondering why the hell I even bothered. I'd never been more disappointed in a movie. Should've known they'd ruin the series. Hollywood is good for that.
