Yeah, it's far more depressing and leaves you feeling completely hopeless while it's all happening. At least with Dark Duet you could see the emotions in Caleb as he was putting Livvie through it, and that's not at all the case here. What the characters go through blew past sadism and went straight to horrific physical and emotional abuse. For more than 80% of the 400 page book. It's crazy intense.

Ha, it's nothing personal, believe me. I'm just on the fence about recommending it because it was really, really difficult to get through. More so than Dark Duet. I actually dreaded picking it back up at times because I wasn't sure I could take any more!!

I'm trying out To Serve is Divine (The Divine Trilogy, #1) by R.E. Hargrave , despite the fact that it's another dom/sub story. The fact that it's consensual is making it a much more enjoyable read so far, though, and damn Jayden is smoking hot!!

I am very happy to have discovered this author. I asked some wonderful ppl in the Romance Forum Refugees for suggestions of books with dark heroes and this was perfect. I look forward to reading more. Although, one of my stipulations was that the hero not physically harm the heroine, and I was warned that one of the heroes does, later in the series. I am worried, but now that I have started I have to continue this amazing series!

Ye I knew about the fanfiction, I admit I do not know the full story, I think it's that people feel the characters are too alike Harry Potter characters. When she was writing fan fiction she took her work from other places and was banned from the site. I suppose it cannot be true if she is still selling the books and making a movie from it.

I've read both her series's and I can't say that I find any of the characters alike at all. My brother is obsessed with both and he too can't see similarities. Someone always has something negative to say when authors become successful and whether she was a fanfiction writer shouldn't matter. Her credibility as an author should attest to how successful her books are. I love her work! Don't stop reading on account of hearsay and yes, she wouldn't be getting movie deals if she plagiarised.
