I just don't understand why an author would do this. Can any of you authors explain to me? It probably could be a good novel, so why not wait to complete the book and put it out as one? That just ticks me off. Please tell me this isn't a growing trend!

Yeah, I don't mind the novellas per se as long as they're well-written, but the prices are ridiculous for such short stories. I try to remind myself that if I were to try and sit down to write 70 pages and make it a really intriguing story (which some of them really are), I'd want to make something off of it for all that work. But when you can buy full-length novels for as little as $.99, some well over 400 pages and some that are incredible stories, it doesn't make sense.

message 21989: by Cathrina (new)

Cathrina Constantine (cathrinaconstantinecom) Just finished reading Traffic Jam by Melissa Groeling. I felt like I was back in high school, and Groeling captured the true essence of teenage dialogue. The abortion issue was heart wrenching, and a deplorable side of mankind that we face. The main character, Val grew in her convictions and strength as the story continued. I liked Val's spunk and tenacity, and halfway through the book, I couldn't put it down.
