Jen (geekybookgal) | 159 comments YUP! You said it..I think in some cases, if people know an author personally, it's hard to give an unbiased review..Goodreads is both good and bad for that. I mean, we get to interact with our favorite authors which is SO great, but then I think it "skews" the ratings a bit.
Belkis wrote: "Yup and so many 5 star reviews??? I mean the writing was still solid and I liked what she did with Soren as well as reintroducing Marran (hope I got his name right) and I appreciated the additional character insights into Perry but everything else was frustrating and found the book to drag in portions. And don't even want to get into Roar, Liv, Cinder crap. As well as the fact that we only got to have Aria & Perry together for like 5 minutes! Hopefully book 3 will get back on track and be closer to the awesomeness that was book 1. "

♥ Rebecca ♥ | 1653 comments I just finished The Shattered Dark (McKenzie Lewis, #2) by Sandy Williams , the sequel to The Shadow Reader (McKenzie Lewis, #1) by Sandy Williams . For those who've read it, you know it's a great adult faery book, with a great story, lots of action, romance, with a tolerable love-triangle and a strong heroine. The sequel was just as great, except it took awhile for the romance to come back into the picture, and it had a sad ending. But OMG that ending! I can tell the next book will focus on the romance more than the last two and settle love-triangle once and for all. I don't know if its a trilogy, but I hope so. I don't want to have to wait any longer for Mckenzie and Aren to get their HEA. And the will get one!

Yeah, she really knows how to yank on the heartstrings. You should read Tangled Tides by her as well - less intense but pretty awesome.

I'm glad someone finally addressed the topic of suicide in after a horrific family tragedy (though I'm glad sshe didn't do it, because where would the series go then?). But it seems like in most books, everyone in the character's life dies, they are completely alone, and they resign themselves to living in misery forever. But if a boook wants to be realistic, sometimes they have to address thaqt this becomes an option, especially to young people. I would never want it to actually happen in a stoory, but it's out there, it's real, and sometimes should be talked about.

message 19250: by Bee (BacchusVines) (new)

Bee (BacchusVines) (bacchusvines) I'm currently reading Notorious Nineteen (Stephanie Plum, #19) by Janet Evanovich , and quite certain it is lacking the Evanovich spark. Afterwards, Ruthless (Pretty Little Liars, #10) by Sara Shepard will be started. Trying to get as much reading done before school starts up. :)
