Emily (librarylil) | 358 comments I had thought of both those possibilities, Wendy. Not sure which I think it is.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 76 comments I searched the thread. Is he he same guy from some of these?

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments I like that this scary book has a scary looking cover, sans hoodies and prom dresses:

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Could be Cassi. It's hard to tell.

Love that cover Jenny. Thanks for the link. It's a Harper book. Hopefully I can get that galley now (if/when it comes out as a galley) that they're approving me again.

message 556: by Carina (new)

Carina That's an awesome cover! It definitely makes me want to read that book.

message 557: by Jen (at last!) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) Oh, I like that cover, Jenny! Def makes me want to read it.

message 558: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (stack-i-e) Loved the Unwholly book cover, perfect for the book.

The turning's bright yellow letters throw me off a bit, I think it could be creepier with a different color, or maybe and aged yellow? The house is definitely creepy though.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Um...does someone want to clue me in on what this cover is supposed to be representing?

A flower? A female's lady parts? Please tell me. I'm so confused!

message 560: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (last edited May 02, 2012 03:43PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Okay, I actually want to read this book so I'm not picking on the content (in fact I hear it's a great book) but I do have a few observations about the cover :

From left to right :
Arrow number 1 - Has the "wish I was taller so I could model" face.
Arrow number 2 - Has the "deer in headlights" look
Arrow number 3 - Can you say SNARL? Poor Elvis. Someone is biting his style.

I have nothing really to say about the guy in front. He's just there looking pretty.

message 561: by Leea (new)

Leea hahaha!

My first thought was look at all that hair... I mean they all have a different style. lmao!

My vote is on lady parts. But if you look at it long enough you kinda can see Pippi Longstocking...

It also looks funny that they were lined up from shortest to tallest.

Pippi Longstocking...too funny!

message 564: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments That cover reminds me of this one that I had to read for a women's lit class in college:
Rubyfruit Jungle by Rita Mae Brown
And yeah, rubyfruit jungle is something that the main character says to describe a vagina.

message 565: by Carina (new)

Carina I got rejected several times for this one. And although I'm still excited to read it, the cover is a little bit of a disappointment.

I was hoping it was gonna be something like the Fire and Thorns covers:

message 566: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments I'm glad The Girl of Fire and Thorns moved away from its original girl in a dress cover for this one that is better suited to a high fantasy. And that the sequel matches:

message 567: by Carina (new)

Carina I'm glad they changed them to these covers too. The original, wasn't very...well, original! Haha
I like the theme for both of those. They compliment each other very nicely.

message 568: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Now I am impatient to read the second one. I have a thing for Hector.

message 569: by Carina (last edited May 02, 2012 10:43PM) (new)

Carina Me too! So do you think (view spoiler)

Yes, as you can tell, I'm REALLY excited for The Crown of Embers!

message 570: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Yes, I think/hope so. (view spoiler)

message 571: by Carina (new)

Carina He's the one I liked from the begginig too!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Since Jenny was just speaking of non-dystopia/non-PA books, here's a sci-fi one that looks good and I love the cover.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Oooohhh...and a superhero book...

message 574: by Leea (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments It's so different looking. :)

message 576: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Oooh, I hadn't seen the superhero one yet. These 2 covers look like they need to be on a shelf together.

message 577: by [deleted user] (new)

Totally agree Jenny...does this give us permission to buy both?

message 578: by D.G. (new)

D.G. LMAO! I haven't checked these thread in a while and had a chuckle about the lady parts and the poster boys for a hairsalon covers.

message 579: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (last edited May 08, 2012 02:38PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Oh my lord. You NAILED it with the hair salon poster comparison. Dead on.

I did end up reading the prequel to that book and quite enjoyed it (am actually excited to go on to the blue cover "feel the rush" -hah- book). But again with the bad cover...green on green on green...did he get stuck in a bush? I love that he took a step back in time to the late 80's/early 90's and did some shopping at Chess King.

Also, what's with the open shirt and oiled chest?

message 580: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (last edited May 08, 2012 02:48PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Okay, now I had to go look up the rest...

boy band video?

not too bad...only the shadowed guy in the middle background looks pretty off, like they photoshopped a ghost into the pic

the guys in the background actually work in this one. but the front pic not so much...

message 581: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments I can't even begin take those books seriously with those covers.

message 582: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Not a fan of cheese?

message 583: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments I could've made those with sticks and some early 1990s.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 76 comments Those looks like boyband album art. Is this one of those "Put boys on the cover so boys will read it attempt?" If so they fail.

message 585: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments If anything, I'd think boys would be put off by the art. I was under the impression that the design was geared toward tween girls. Boyband is definitely in the ballpark.

message 586: by Carina (new)

Carina I will never read those books, because of those hiddeous covers. Ugh! Barf!

message 587: by Carina (new)

Carina Hmm, is that shallow of me? Probably. But what can I say, I like pretty covers! haha
Jenny reminded me of these covers. Not the best reviews, but aren't the covers pretty!

message 588: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Carina wrote: "I will never read those books, because of those hiddeous covers. Ugh! Barf!"

That's the thing. I read the green prequel (because it was free and short) and I thought it was done well for a recent pnr after reading several bad ones. I've heard that book 1 is pretty good from a few people that I trust.

Cover judging = rarely works out.

message 589: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments And you read erotica the same as me...so haha, you have no room to talk. Are there any worse covers than erotica? I really don't think so?

message 590: by Carina (new)

Carina "Cover judging = rarely works out."

*sigh* I know. I'm just being unreasonable after a looong day at work. ;)

message 591: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I'm sorry. :( Are you working double shifts?

*hug*

message 592: by Carina (new)

Carina Yeah. Long, loooong days.
My niece's first communion is this saturday(5/12). Then mother's day on sunday(5/13). Karla's graduation on Thursday(5/18). Yosi's b-day on sunday(5/20). Yosi's last day of school celebration on tuesday(5/22). And Mirna just got her test results and she's graduating for her GED on Thrusday (5/24)

After that, Yosi's b-day PARTY on June 10th and I have to get everything ready for then. And that costs money so I NEED the extra hours, but I'm soooo tired.
Sorry to rant/vent here. Thanks for the hug. I need it right now...

Awwww, tell Mirna congrats for me. I don't see her much around here these days. She must be busy too.

Kids are not cheap. I feel you.

message 594: by Carina (new)

Carina She is busy. And we're so proud of her....oh gosh, I'm not gonna cry.
I think its starting to catch up to me, and my hormones are NOT helping right now!
My savings account is gonna take a hit for sure.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I'm tearing up here at my desk trying to hold up the laughter.

Man, those covers are horrendous. The 'Fearless' one in particular looks like he's dead and telling you 'Come to Heaven'.

message 596: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments It's probably sad to be scared by a cover named Fearless. Isn't that sort of fighting the point?

Shhh...it's okay. Don't fight it. Just come with me... To Heaven."
