The sad thing about going all digital is that lower income people probably will never have access to that. There are so many people out there that cannot even afford their power bill on a monthly basis. Also children do not have access to digital format books until they get older. I teach in a very low income area and it really is amazing how excited a child is receiving a free book of their own. I think that libraries are so important to that population.
Free anthology of some of the best short stories published on tor.com this year. Includes The Too-Clever Fox by Leigh Bardugo and others. (FYI all of these are free to read on tor.com, but if you'd rather have them in an anthology on your ereader, you can grab this for free.) It is a pre-order to be released on Nov. 5th:
Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F...
Nook: no pre-order is showing up yet
If you missed these from past years, you can still get them for free as well:

There are also several books (some new releases) that have dropped down to $5.00. All of these are $5.00 on Amazon right now, and *some* of them are $5.00 on Nook:
Many of these have been cheaper before and may or may not go on sale again if/when a new book in its series comes out. But if you've been wanting one and didn't want to pay $10 but $5 is acceptable, then I am here to enable you.
Sweet, nice work Jenny! When did it become acceptable to charge ten bucks for an ebook, though? Sheesh. I'm getting spoiled from finding good indie books for $2.99

Amazon now has a new program, where if you buy a physical copy of the book, you can get the Kindle edition for $2.99 or less. It's not on ALL titles, but it says they'll be adding more over time.https://www.amazon.com/gp/digital/ep-...

Did anyone else get a bunch of approvals from NG over the past day or two that came in way after the fact?I'm sort of annoyed by this. Either approve me or don't. I don't want to get an approval weeks or months after I requested, when I don't want to read the book anymore because other friends I trust didn't like it.
On a positive note though, I think I finally broke through the Penguin bubble. I got a couple of new approvals from them.

I got one yesterday for a book I requested months ago, but it doesn't come out until December so I wasn't too perturbed. I'm more often irritated when they take months and months to decline me, saying they "met their limit on approvals". It's like yeah, because you waited for better prospects. Just decline me right away if you already know you don't like me enough!
Was your late approval for Racing Savannah? I just got that one too and noticed it wasn't out yet, but I requested it a while back.

Merin, I was so excited to see Forever up there. Bri, King Hall wasn't bad. I think some of the heroine's behavior was over-the-top at times, but the story was a lot of fun.

B&N's website has not been working for me for shit for Nook stuff lately. I can't get it to pull up any ebook pages or search results. The best I could do on the Bloodlines book was get to the daily deal page. So I am sorry, Nook people, for a lack of links and info.
Click on the Freebooksy link below, it will show you 3 different links....Kindle, Kobo & iTunes...Click on whichever one applies for you to get it FREE...http://freebooksy.com/freebooks/2013/...
On the Nook/B&N, it's .99 (U.S. Dollars/Cents, but UK, and others, still check!)
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/doll-...
(Yes, I had to look for Nook people too. If I can find it on B&N for you, for free or cheap, I do. Sometimes I forget but I try to as often as I can. Dollhouse, is NOT Free on B&N but still a good deal!):-)
$2.99Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007...
Nook: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/steal...
$2.99Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A...
Nook: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/thing...
These two are on sale 40% off on Google Play (not sure for how long). Amazon has matched, B&N has only matched one of them, but Google sells epubs so Nook people, or Android people, could get it from either:
$4.79Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A...
Nook: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/steel...
$5.99Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B...
Here is the link to the Google sale, if you want to see all of the books: https://play.google.com/store/books/c...
Kinda late probably for posting this one, but
$1.99 Nook Daily Deal:http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/throu...
TTEN is still $1.99 on B&N (not sure for how long because I had read this price was for yesterday only), and Amazon has matched it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008...

Both the dweller series and the country saga are amazing. They each have 3 books then wrap up with the fourth called Earth dwellers which is the fourth book to both series. I think that's so cool.

I was really excited about it because people can actually check out e-readers and the purpose is really to provide greater access to technology.
But I don't see all libraries moving to this model. I know I still like to wander among the shelves :)
My neighborhood library is closed 2 days per week, one of which is Thursday. It's a really popular spot after school; you see a ton of kids doing homework and playing on the computers. It makes me sad to think about what their options are on Thursdays.
