Not sure if you heard the buzz but
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein is supposed to be fantastic and very moving. Right now it is "Read Now" instead of request on netgalley.
Thanks for letting the group know! Isa highly recommended that book. I picked it up a while back but haven't gotten to it yet. Might be a good excuse for a buddy read sometime with someone.
Audio peoples, Audible has ALL 7 of the Outlander Series for 7.95. Not too shabby! Now through May 1st.http://www.audible.com/mt/Outlander?s...
I don't do audio but that's a good deal because those books are hefty! How is the audio for the series? Regina, do you know?
They are huge! I own half of them and that is a great deal. The work of uploading all the CDs is worth paying more than that to be able to download. There is a huge split in opinion about the audio. And maybe it is between people who have read it and then listened and those who never read it and only listened. DG LOVES the narrator. I really really don't like her. She has an old woman voice to me, but there is no middle ground. It appears people love her or don't love her. Audible has a lengthy free sample, I recommend listening to that before you purchase. I wish I had. :) But again, DG loves this narrator and she has other friends who also do to. A long audio book like that would be perfect for say, a cross-country drive!
I've heard nothing but wonderful things about the Outlander Audio books. D. Porter is amazing! $7.95 for the whole series, that's a steal!
I just did a search in the Amazon forums and there are tons of people raving about the narration (Davina Porter) and other people like me who had a harsh reaction against it. So I think it is fair to see it is worth a try.

Which by the way is still awesome deal. I thin these are normally 2 credit books -- at leas $25-35.
Sorry I didn't have that as clear that is was all 7 at 7.95 a pop. It was hard to do that over my phone with copying and pasting. lol And the cheapest those books are is 24.99 for the first then its 30-45 each for the reat normally.
$7.95 a pop is still a great deal! I always wished I could get more into Audio books. I know you love them Regina :)

Yup! Awesome deal!
I do Leea. I need them to be done sooner though, lol. I think the longest I can handle is maybe 25 hours.
How long would it take to get through Outlander if you listened for an hour a day? Weeks? Even so...I love Outlander, so however it works for people to read it, it's good. I think we all love seeing new fans.
Way too long for me. I listened to
, I bought it on sale for 4.95, it is a little over 31 hours. I had to put it on 1.5X speed to get through it. I don't know why, but I prefer to read long books rather than listen. But I am sure it is personal preference. :) DG loves Porter's narration so much she can't read them now. :)
Regina wrote: "Not sure if you heard the buzz but

I love the narration of the Outlander books (I've never actually read them) but I agree with Regina that she sort of has an old woman's voice. You get used to it though and her voice for Jamie is SO good that you forget is a woman narrating. :) It's just him.Like Regina said, listen to the samples and go from there. If you are into audiobooks and haven't read the series, then you will probably like the audio. If you have read the books and already have an idea of what everybody should sound like, then you may have issues with it.
But even if you are into audiobooks, also consider the length of the narration. The shorter book is 33 hrs., the longest is 57 hrs. I actually prefer listening to long books in audio but if you don't, then this might be too much for you, specially during those long descriptive passages were nothing seem to be going on.

I prefer to read longer books instead of read them because sometimes I just have to work my way through them a little chunk at a time. It's just easier for me to pick up a book and read a few pages than it is to go through the trouble of starting up an audiobook just to listen for 5 minutes or so. Usually when I'm reading a really long book, I do it in small parts while I read other books on the side.
I still tend to break up very long or intense books with others. It's been over a month and I'm still slowly working my way through Game of Thrones book 2. As long as I finish it before the season is over, it's all good.

OH and a big HAH to the book that replaced Finding Time after I hit reply. What is up with the GR switcheroos?
LOL!!!!!! Finding Time is an erotica short about a dissatisified wife with young kids, lmao -- it doesn't quite fit with its replacement.
LOLOLOLOLOL! Poor Joel is now up there with dissatisfied wives!!!That problem has been happening ever since GR separated the authors from the covers (if you notice, when you hover over the cover, the author doesn't show up anymore.) So when you have books with the same title, something else is bound to come up.
Just a weird disconnect. Don't the programmers for GR get paid? How can they tell their boss -- well there is this glitch ...?
I think it would be amusing to be a fly on the wall when someone accidentally downloads and reads an erotica book thinking it's an inspirational book.
Oh, and in case you guys missed it, Jenny linked some good books on the previous page. Our conversation sort of bumped it off.
