Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Thanks Jenny!

Please feel free to re-post any deals I find in your group if you want. I should cross post but I tend to work my GR stuff off a list and have this mental checklist that I go through and tackle, so when I'm done with one thing I'm off to the next.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments In reference to what you said about book 2 of PJ, I am finding it strange that a few recent series have been putting book 2 as their "on sale" book. The only thing I can think of is if they had the first book on sale about a month or two prior and they're trying to get people hooked up again if they stalled out on the series.

Todays B&N deal is book 2 in the Tiger's Curse series. Check Amazon within the next hour or two for their price match.

Tiger's Quest (The Tiger Saga, #2) by Colleen Houck

Okay, at the risk of sounding like an idiot, what is "DRM-free" mean?? I'm thinking "digital reader"...something. What's the "M" stand for?

Digital Rights Management. It's the thing on ebooks that keeps you from converting the file to different formats and reading the book on different devices. Without a DRM on the book, you can freely and legally convert it to work on any of your devices.

Emily (librarylil) | 358 comments Okay, I admit to being a dummy and getting them confused. It's not Vampire Diaries so many of you rave about, that's Vampire Academy, right?

message 471: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) There's a lot of raving about both. Its Vampire Academy the book, and Vampire Diaries the tv show, lol. I think you're thinking of the book though.

message 472: by Emily (new)

Emily (librarylil) | 358 comments I know Vampire Diaries is the TV show, I just want to know what book series I keep hearing "those who haven't read them should!" So that's Vampire Academy?

message 473: by Gwennie (last edited Jun 11, 2012 07:17AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Yeah, thats definitely Vampire Academy. Much better than Vampire Diaries.

message 474: by Emily (new)

Emily (librarylil) | 358 comments Okay, thanks, that helps! Was initially excited to see the vampire diaries first book for 99 cents, then realized that wasn't the series I kept hearing about, then was completely confused!

message 483: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Gah. I don't know why but I just hate using that site for galleys.

message 484: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Looks like it was taken down. :( I searched book title, author title and series title and found nothing. Didn't try publisher though...probably should have.

message 485: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Well piss, it looks like they did take it down.

message 486: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments A lot of books are like that. They give out a few copies and then the book poofs. It's too bad but I am not going to sit there and comb all of the galley sites every day to keep up with it either.

Carina Isamlq wrote: "Jenny wrote: "Holy crap, it is."

I take it this series is good?

message 488: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (last edited Jun 24, 2012 02:52PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments The Chemical Garden series? I thought book 1 was okay but I'd heard that book 2 wasn't as good. I was only going to read it if I got book 3 as a galley because why not...

This isn't an ebook but I was wondering if anyone has ordered used books from B&N/Amazon type partners for a penny like this one : http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/reven...

I was wondering how much you'd have to pay for the shipping and if it's worth doing it at all.

message 489: by Hillary (new)

Hillary (eledri) | 759 comments If you add it to your cart it shows you. The one I clicked on was from Washington and was charging 3.99 S&H.

message 490: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I think we'd mentioned these before, so I'm not going to repost links but saw them again while I was browsing the cheapie sites today.

Anna Dressed in Blood is still $2.99 @ Amazon (and maybe B&N, didn't check)

Hourglass (Hourglass, #1) by Myra McEntire is showing (this might be a price drop) $1.59 at Amazon and B&N. It's also discounted for Amazon UK.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I wasn't a fan. I doubt I'll continue the series. It's probably sad that I was going to apply for the galley of book 3 and actually consider reading book 2 if I'd gotten book 3. There's something about freebies that are hard to pass up.

Someone here likes the series though, so maybe they'll be able to say something positive that would make you want to read it. I don't remember who the person is now, unfortunately.

message 495: by Carina (new)

Carina That what I keep hearing. Well I hadn't planned on reading it in the first place. I just didn't want to pass up a good deal.
Now if it was free, I might consider reading it...

message 496: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Not YA, but want to post it anyway for the Game of Thrones / epic fantasy fans: The first two Malazan books are on sale for $2.99 each. I haven't read them yet but I've been meaning to for quite a while and this is a good chance to snag the first two cheap. Yay!

is today's "free Friday" selection at B&N, although I think it's been free for a while. I'm sure Amazon has the same deal but I didn't check on that...
