Cacophony | 102 comments Hi Brenda!
Thanks for the recs! I think I will read Some Girls Bite, since I have been hearing good things about it lately. Also I might try High Stakes or Kitchen Witch since they are new to me and I am in the mood for something new.

You don't have to read all of them, you know :p
I can't do a buddy read right now, because I have to study for uni this year, I'm sooo busy. :/
I'm glad you liked my picks. I'm sure you'll love KOD and THG. :)

Glad you found something you like! My TBR list is huge. I find more to read every day. I think it's my personal anti aging serum. I can't expire if I still have books to read right? :)

message 405: by Stormy (new)

Stormy | 144 comments Lexa,

I read lots of paranormal and lots of damaged hero books. I tried to balance those with some historical, some contemporary and some "normal" folks. Hopefully you can find something here to enjoy!

1. From Your TBR
Lover Eternal – JR Ward – I love this series and you rated the first book higher than I did, so why not continue on with book #2? Rhage becomes a fave for lots of folks (though Z is more my typical hero of choice).

Salem Falls – Jodi Picoult – I have a love/hate relationship with Jodi Picoult. She is an incredible story teller, but her books chill me to the bone. So this is not a romance novel, but this story line has lingered with me for years.

2. New to You
Vampire Academy – Richelle Mead – I love this YA series and book one is currently being made into a movie, so get a jump on it and read the book first…since they are always better. Love me some Rose and Dimitri.

Broken – Shiloh Walker – I read this in a recent PIFM challenge and really loved it. There’s my favorite broken hero, there’s suspense, there’s a twist at the end. It is book #2 in the series, but not difficult to start in the “middle” of the story.

3. My Favorites
Born In Sin – Kinley MacGregor – You have some historical fiction on your read list and this is my favorite. Some Scotland, some rogues, a redeemable assassin, a fiery heroine, personal sacrifice. Anyway.

Stranger – Megan Hart – Really like this Megan Hart. Her characters have depth, her story lines are interesting. This one has a scene that makes me laugh out loud every time I read it.

4. From My TBR
Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf – Molly Harper – this is on both our TBRs. You have read and loved Molly Harper before and we’ve both read the first book in the series. Could be a good follow-on.

Simply Irresistible – Jill Shalvis – I actually have this book on-deck and it’s on your TBR. You’ve liked past Shalvis books, so…why not?

message 423: by Julie (new)

Julie | 56 comments Hey SHELLBELLE,

I enjoyed picking books for you this month. We don't actually have tons of books in common so I tried to give you a variety to choose from. I hope you like the choices.

From Your TBR:
Wrangled and Tangled - I saw that you had read the first two in this series and enjoyed them. This one was highly rated.
Mine Till Midnight - I read this about a month ago. Had it on my TBR list forever. It was very good. Since you like Kleypas, start this series.
BONUS: Open Season - I thought I would give you more than two to choose from. This book was also great.

NEW TO YOU:
Garden Spells - I read this in a challenge quite a while ago and have since read all the books by this author. I like the quirkiness. Neat imagination.
My Fair Godmother - I found this book by accident at the library and have read this one and the next in the series. If you like a humorous look at the classic fairy tales mixed with modern day...you'll like this one.
The Sparkling One - I saw how much you like Susan Mallery and this is the first of this series.
Vision in White - I thought you might like to try this series about four friends in a wedding business. Each of the four books focus on one of the friends and her part of the business. I had heard about this series from friends and put off reading it (I don't know why), but am into the second one now and they are good and funny.

MY FAVES:
Rebel Angels - You read the first one of the series and loved it, so I thought you would consider the second one. I finished this series and am hoping the author will consider extending it.
Obsession - You don't have any suspense/romance books but I hope you try this one. I recently have fallen in love with Karen Robards. This book starts from the beginning with the kind of action that sucks you in and keeps you guessing until the end. It is a wild ride.
BONUS BOOKS - Perfect - This is one of my most favorite books of all time. Talking about your love story. Oooohs and ahhhhhs aplenty.
The Highlander's Touch - Really good stuff. Makes me want to read it again.

MY TBR:
Jane Eyre - I've wanted to read this for a loooong time. It would be great as a buddy read. After we read it I would like to rent the movie to see how they presented this classic.
Kiss an Angel - I chose this one because you and I both like Susan Elizabeth Phillips. This would be a good buddy read as well.

Wow Nairabell - All of these books are ones that I have been wanting to read! What great choices! I could put on a blindfold, point to any book and be doing a happy dance... I'm thinking Play of Passion or Ill Wind first up, but let me keep pondering... :)

message 427: by Jane (PS), Moderator (last edited Sep 03, 2011 04:06PM) (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Right - DG time! I'm going for a really wide range and hope I hit something you will find to your liking!

From Your TBR
The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. You really enjoyed the first book and it seems to get good reviews.
Cyborg Nation by Kaitlyn O'Connor. This is light-hearted fun - these stories make me snicker and sometimes laugh out loud.
Cotillion by Georgette Heyer. I recommend this on audio. I listened to it about a year ago and loved it - beta hero, massive mix-ups, very amusing.

New to You
Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison. OK - this is actually on your wishlist, but I've just started it and I think it could be a five star for me. Thought I'd throw it in the mix.
Second Sight by Amanda Quick. You haven't read Jayne Ann Krentz and you like some historical, so this might spark your interest. It is the first book in the Arcane Society series which mixes her three nom de plumes (Jayne Ann Krentz - present day, Amanda Quick - historical and Jayne Castle - futuristic).
Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Another standard author not on your read list - this is the first in the Dark Hunter series. I didn't love it and the next one (Night Embrace) I didn't enjoy at all, BUT, I loved Dance with the Devil, so it made the list for that reason...

My Favourites Hmmmm...
Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair. Space opera. Not sure if it is your cup of tea, but you never know.
Burning Wild by Christine Feehan. I know you have read Dark Prince (her first Carpathian novel) and didn't rate it highly - nor did I. This is part of her leopard series and I don't believe you need to read the earlier book and novella to follow this story. I loved it.
Shield's Lady by Jayne Ann Krentz. This is a fun futuristic book with a feisty H and h. Chill out and enjoy with this book.

From My TBR
I just pulled books from your TBR that I have waiting on mine...
Faefever by Karen Marie Moning (On deck?)
Hot Head by Damon Suede.
And this month I have promised myself that I will read:
Guardian Of Honor by Robin D Owens

Hi, Diane,
Couldn't wait until Sept. 1 and started Naked in Death while on a plane today. It is awesome and I don't know why I put off reading it so long. I think when I read reviews, I was put off by the futuristic, science fiction feel to it, but it doesn't seem that far-fetched in some ways now. I am really enjoying it. Thanks for picking it for me.

Julie, your picks were perfect! Seriously, I couldn't have picked better myself, and in fact some of your picks were books that I was already seriously contemplating reading in September so you just help me decide for sure☺

Here are to the books I will def. read...

Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1) by Lisa Kleypas *I have read her WallFlower series, and have been wanting to give this series a try next!

The Sparkling One (Marcelli, #1) by Susan Mallery *I do love Susan Mallery, and recently I have had the amazing chance to be one of her Fool's Gold Varsity Cheerleaders and take control of her Goodreads group, so I have been going through and reading all of her books I haven't got around to yet, and this was VERY high on the list!

Buddy Read
I would love to read either book with you for a buddy read! I already have them both on my Nook ready to go when you are. And I want to do the same as you with Jane Eyre, I can't wait to watch the movie after reading the book! (the only thing about the buddy read is I would prefer to wait at least a week or so to start, there are tons of new releases I have been waiting for that came out today and I know I'll be reading them first!)

Books I will try to get to....
Open Season by Linda Howard *My aunt and bestfriend have been trying to get me to read Linda Howard forever, and I just haven't got around to it. Open Season is my aunts fav. so I promised her I would start with it!

My Fair Godmother (My Fair Godmother, #1) by Janette Rallison *I have never heard of this book/author, but it looks really cute and fun!

I also really want to get around to The Bride Quartette, The Highlander series, and the rest of the Gemma Doyle series...but I'm doubting I can read all of these books plus my new releases in one month! As much as I want to☺

Also Wrangled and Tangled (Blacktop Cowboys, #3) by Lorelei James doesn't come out till Nov. 1st, but you can gaurantee I will be reading it when it's out!!!

Thanks again for the amazing picks!

(2 books) Your Favorites

Legend (Drenai Tales, #1) by David Gemmell – David Gemmell. An interesting series which can actually be read two ways – the way David wrote it, or in the chronological order of the series itself.

(2 books) From your TBR

Bitter is the New Black Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass, Or, Why You Should Never Carry A Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office by Jen Lancaster – Jen Lancaster. This book just seems really interesting and looking forward to reading it myself.

Hope that you can find a book or two that interests you here! (Maybe even one that wasn’t already in your TBR list)
