No Problem Lauren! Pleased you liked it. I'm all set to go sign up for October now LOL

message 865: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 11 comments WOOP I can't believe I did it! I finished Along Came a Spider (Alex Cross, Book 1) by James Patterson ! A lot has been going on for me this month and I was getting to the stage where I was worried I might not finish it! (and fail at my first challenge *gasp*)

I LOVED this book and I think I may have a new favourite author. I have to say it was a read in the daylight book for me LOL not that it is particularly graphic but just that I knew if I read it before I went to sleep my mind would be working overtime

It had quite a few twists and turns and was 89 (short) chapters.

Can't wait to read more about 'Alex Cross' at some point, definitely going on my TBR list. Thanks Caroline :0)

message 866: by Laurie (new)

Laurie I read Any Man of Mine and enjoyed it. It was so typical of Rachel Gibson and her books, light hearted and fun.

message 867: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (pebblesy) Gotten as far as I think I ever will on my second recommendation - "The Scarlett Letter". This one was on my TBR list for a long time so thanks for the push to read it Karen K. I always thought this was going to be a lot better than it really is and 60% of the way in I just can't get excited about it - it's the first book in a long time I actual look forward to stopping reading at night because I'm just not enjoying it but at least now I have tried it!

message 868: by Kami (last edited Sep 24, 2011 10:02PM) (new)

Kami (aidansmama) | 988 comments I finished Intrinsical, my pick from Alix. I gave it three stars. It started out really slow and I had a hard time getting into it. I wasn't sure that I would even be able to finish it at all. But then it picked up toward the middle and got interesting. It is the beginning of a series, which may explain the slow start. Anyway, it was interesting and I would like to pick up the next book in the series sometime. I will read Dragonfly in Amber if I don't run out of time for the month.

message 871: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments Elise - I really liked How to Flirt as well - i'm going to have to get the second one

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments I think it is great that many people read more than one pick each month. I've taken a slightly different approach. Last month I read the first of the Chicagoland Vampires books for my PIFM challenge and the rest of the series for fun. This month I read the first of the Mortal Instruments books for the PIFM challenge. I'll finish the last of the 1480 page trilogy this afternoon. I am enjoying them and thankful that I was given this challenge to get to them.

message 873: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments I've read more than one pick, but I've also used it to start reading authors and series that I've never read before. I love this challenge for that reason as well.

message 875: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments Finally finished Moon Called. I had some doubts at first, but it got a lot more interesting when the vampires got involved in the story.
I'm intrigued enough to read the next installment.

Thanks to Bookwormgirl for giving me the nudge to finally read this!

Christine (Cagnes) (cagnes) | 118 comments Cathy C.... I read Redeeming Love & loved it! I was hoping to read a few more of your recs, but it looks like I may not have time to get to them this month.

Thanks for all the picks! :-)

message 877: by Elke (new)

Elke (ejurca) | 1810 comments I am glad you liked it!! I am actually reading The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper right now!

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Brett, I am not sure if I will get to the rest of my picks this month. I wanted to read the Alix Rickloff book and thought I had purchased it for my nook. I actually bought the next one in the series. Anyway-budget is shot until October, so I'm hoping to read it then.
Thanks for all your picks. They were great.
READ
Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole

I'm happy you liked the books I picked! This was my first pick it for me challenge and I was nervous about it at first. Let me know whenever you read The Reckoning. I want to know what you think of it! :) I can't wait for October and the release of her next book!

message 880: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (LexaReads) | 375 comments Hey Kerste! I finished Vampire Academy today and I really enjoyed it. It's not something I'd usually read, but the characters were great I absolutely loved Rose. I can't wait until I find time to continue the story! Thank you so much for a great recommendation! I won't get to the other one I said I'd read this month, school has been crazy this semester, but it is on my tbr list and I plan to read it whenever I have a spare moment!

I just picked up "Devil's Brood" in a hardback book sale at Barnes and Noble. I want to read that one as well. Interesting side note- my husband is related to Simon Montfort- his father is my husbands 24th great grandfather. I forget which book of hers is about Montfort.

message 884: by Shell (new)

Shell | 2 comments DG I have really tried to get into Savannah Bluesbut I can't. I've read about 100 pages of it, and just can't make myself read anymore. I dunno if I'm not in the best frame of mind right now, or what, but I'm gonna have to quit that one. I'm hoping the library will come through and send me Caressed By Ice before Thursday. Wish me luck!

I've just finished The Bride and I must say, I enjoyed it quite a lot. Thank you for recommending it to me!

message 886: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11344 comments I finished Deadly Fear this morning, and while it was my least favorite of the picks I read this month, I still liked it enough that the rest of the series is definitely going on my TBR. Thanks again for the great picks this month Lauren!

Penney!

I finished reading Comfort Food. Wow, the book left me speechless. I really enjoyed it. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Thanks for the fantastic rec!!!!!!!!!!!

message 889: by Karen K. (new)

Karen K. Miller (karenkm) | 33 comments I read two books that were suggested by Gigi. The first was Life of Pi. I liked it but I kept falling asleep while reading it. The second book I read was The Hunger Games. I totally loved the book. It was awesome. I can't wait to read Catching Fire. My daughter's friend is borrowing it, so I'll have to wait to read it. I started The Help yesterday. I loved the movie so I have been looking forward to reading the book. Thanks for the suggestions Gigi!

message 890: by Shellbelle (new)

Shellbelle | 195 comments Finished Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1) by Lisa Kleypas !!! Loved it♥ but then I'm not surprised, Lisa Kleypas is a genius☺ I will def. be reading the rest of the series.

Sadly that was the only Pick I got done in September, but I added all the other books to my TBR soon pile☺ and I can't wait to get to all of them!

message 893: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments Update:
So far we have 77 readers that have read 125 books.

With all the buddy reads, finding 2 books by the same author is not a surprise, but 3 books by an author ...

3 books each by ....

Cassandra Clare
Damon Suede
Darynda Jones
J.D. Robb
Kresley Cole
Lisa Kleypas
Patricia Briggs
Rachel Gibson
Richelle Mead

message 894: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments Hi Katie
I finished Lover Eternal I give it 5 stars. I finished it on 9/27/11. I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to read the next one.

message 895: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 236 comments I couldn't get to all of the books I picked for this month but I did complete one of them. I read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.

I am excited to say that I have finally read it and I loved it! I gave it 5 stars. I am amazed that I can read each of Mead's series (she has 4 out total, 1 is a spin off of Vampire Academy which I will read after I finish it) and love it. Each series is so different, and amazing in their own way. I would love to be inside Richelle Mead's head for a day to see where these ideas come from.

I loved Rose, she is a very strong, independent character. I can see why so many people are attracted to this series. I loved that although this is a vampire book it didn't feel that way. I've said before that I've jumped the vampire train and I'm looking for something else but this is so unique that I don't mind the vampire aspect at all. In fact, I find it appealing. I can't wait to see where this series moves on from here.

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead

message 896: by Megan L (new)

Megan L Harnett | 806 comments I finished Something About You by Julie James on 9/29. This was a fun love story. I liked it because it didn't have the usual back and forth of the main characters deciding if they wanted to take the relationship further. In this book they knew they liked each other and didn't ignore it. My kind of story.

message 897: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments Just a few high achievers in our group .....
several have read 2 or 3, but 1 read 5 and 1 read 7.

Congrats to everyone that have found some good books to read and finished this competition.

~ With only 1 day left, please get your final count posted soon.
I will post the last of the updates sometime next week.
