M.A. Comley (melcom) you lot are too nice for words. ♥

message 1702: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Hi Guys, up to my eyes in renovations still, beginning to get a little boring now! lol

Just wanted to tell you that Cruel Justice is FREE at the moment for the final time.

Hope everyone is well. xx

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I have a feeling you are like my in-laws, on a continuous redecorating loop. Once one room is finished they move on to another, never stopping!!

message 1704: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) It seems that way Jud. We ripped out the old staircase and it disrupted three rooms... Grrr...

Hopefully another three weeks should see it finished! :-)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Has the dog stopped trying to go up the stairs where the stairs are not anymore?

message 1707: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Yeah, he has, Jud, it was hilarious. He still tries to come down the old way though the bedroom, he hasn't quite fathomed that out yet. :-)

How's your doggy settling in?

message 1708: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments He's fine. Was a bit ill this morning, had to take him out twice to do his business, poor thing. Hope he is ok till one of us gets home later.

Just trying to decide if the tablets he is on are making any difference to him or not. They seemed to at the start but not sure now.

message 1709: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Awww... hope he feels better soon. I think they do get used to tablets very quickly.

We had to take Sammy to the vets yesterday, his infection has almost cleared up but he's developed a cough now that the vet thinks is linked to a heart problem. :-(

These things are sent to test us, I suppose.

message 1710: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments That's the same as Oscar! And you just reminded me that right enough I don't remember hearing him cough at nights recently

message 1711: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Really??? My old Rough Collie had a bad heart and was on tablets for years.

I used to go to the vet, who was a dragon to others but a sweetie with me, and he used to pass me the tub and tell me to help myself to the tablets. :-)

Yeah, Sammy struggles at night too, we put it down to having the wood burning working.

message 1712: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Quick update on Sammy, he's really poorly now and the vet thinks he has a tumour. He's a sorry soul at the moment but we're giving him lots of cuddles. :-(

message 1713: by Steve (last edited Nov 27, 2012 01:52AM) (new)

Steve Robinson (steverobinson) | 2926 comments Very sorry to hear that, Mel. :o( It's perhaps not much consolation, I know, but a friend's Springer Spaniel was similarly diagnosed a couple of years ago now. She's doing very well so you never know.

message 1714: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Thanks Steve that's reassuring. The poor thing has been going through the mill the last couple of months. He cheers up when he knows he's going in the car and when we pull up outside the vets he really brightens up, I think he's in love with him despite him prodding and poking him! lol

Good luck on the new release in a few days! :-)

*Hugs*

message 1717: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Thank you. I'll keep you informed. :-( xx

message 1718: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I was worried Oscar was going to have bowel cancer or something. He had severe diahorrea where he would run to the door to be let out but would have already gone before we could get shoes on to take him. I'll not go into details but it was horrid and did not look right at all.

Turns out I was poisoning him by giving him his tablet in cheese...

But I was fearful for a couple of days so do sort of know how you feel Mel.

message 1719: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) OMG! That's awful, Jud, our dogs love cheese, not heard of it being poison to a god before. I know in the States a few trainers use it as an incentive to train their dogs.

Hope Oscar gets better soon, it's horrible to see them suffering. At least Sammy has an appetite today.

We told the vet we made him a rice pudding the other day and he laughed his socks off! lol

message 1720: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Yea, apparently it's so fatty they can't really digest it. Figured it was maybe cause we were giving him a big chunk first thing in morning, cause we have sprinkled grated cheese over his dinner before and that was fine. In fact it was our vet told us to put some cheese over his food if he wasn't eating it.

Maybe it depends on the dog as well.

message 1721: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Maybe Jud.

Our vet, who really is the sweetest man alive I think, has put Sammy back on steroids and he appears to be a different dog.

he gave him a steroid injection the other day and refuses to charge us for it. When I complained he said "It's my house, I'll do what I want!" We'd be lost without him.

message 1722: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments That is so kind of him!!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Give Sammy an extra hug from me, Mel.

Got your jigsaw puzzles done yet?

message 1724: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Will do, Patti. Just got the instructions out for the TV cabinet to find several screws are missing, bummer!

Have to go back into town tomorrow now, why didn't I check everything was there last night.

Been very naughty and bought the vet a super dooper bottle of Malt Whisky (18 yrs old) I hope he appreciates it. Not sure if the French like whisky. :-)

message 1725: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments He can always learn!

Besides I'm sure he'll like it plenty by the time he has finished the bottle...

message 1726: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Into town for a screw tomorrow Mel? You do shock me!

If Dr Vet doesn't like the whiskey, I'm sure Dave will be happy to help.

This review is from: Cruel Justice (Justice series (Book one)) (Kindle Edition)
I started this book and from the first page I couldn't put it down. This is a brilliant read and I have already downloaded the second book in the series. I would definitely put this book in my top 5 books and I read constantly. Make it your next book to pick up.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Nice Mel.

How are you doing today, lovely?

message 1738: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Better than anticipated, Patti. It helps that Sammy died at home and I didn't have to take him to the vets.

I popped into the vet today to give him his Malt Whisky and he was adamant he didn't want it. He told me he was about to start exploring what was wrong with Sammy and suspected he had cancer. I explained how he went and he thinks he probably had a blood clot.

He's at peace now and will never be forgotten. :-)

The group has been a great source of comfort throughout his illness, to which I'll be eternally grateful. ♥

message 1740: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Hope you are doing ok Mel :o(

Still breaks my heart, must have been so bittersweet for him to die at home with you, but at least he will have been happy (and it was pretty quick).

I wish I could make Oscar live forever then I'd never have to go through this.

Lots of love ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

message 1741: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) You really are so sweet, Jud.

Mum and I are a lot better today. We keep thinking about the silly things he used to do. Like sit in front of us bending his head right back to look at us and then eyeing the blanket, hinting at us to cover him when he got cold. We've had a few chuckles today and Henry is getting extra cuddles too, he's a different dog right now, keeps disappearing upstairs to lie on the bed, very strange.

I hope you have as many happy years with Oscar as we did with Sammy, they definitely bring a bundle of happiness to our lives. ♥♥

Katy | 2662 comments Hope you're feeling better now, Mel! I know the feeling doesnt go away for a long time, but focusing on the good times certainly helps (:

I keep turning to where Jasper's bed was and throwing food for him, and then getting really upset when I realise what I've done!

Always here if you need a chat xx

message 1746: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Thanks Katy you're a darling. It is hard getting out of the little routines. He used to beat me to the treat cupboard at 6pm every night. :-(

Quite upsetting at the moment seeing Henry hunting around the garden looking for his little pal. I was awake most of the night thinking, crying and cuddling Henry. Hope it passes soon, I'm sure it will. :-) xx

Katy | 2662 comments It will pass, Mel (: it will take time to adjust, but things will get better (:

When we first lost Jasper, I couldn't go into the conservatory where his bed was. I can go in there now (: not a day goes by where I don't think of him, but at least I don't spend my days crying now! (:

Here if you need a chat x remember to focus on the good times you had and not to be sad that he has gone, becuase he had a lovely life with you (: it's obvious how much you mean to him that he felt comfortable enough to pass away in your arms xxx
