Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Well group, going by the teeny bit I just read, Mel's next book is gonna be a stonker!

Woohoo!!!!

message 1609: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) haha! You are funny, let's hope so! :-)

Merci bien!

message 1610: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) I heard this week that one should never say merci beaucoup as it refers to a posterior, is that right, Lorraine?

message 1611: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments As in 'thanks for my big fat arse'?

I've never heard that.

Oh did I tell you I was teaching French last week? What a joke that was!

message 1612: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Something like that, Patti.

You were, do you actually know the lingo? :-)

message 1613: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Heck no.

Well I was barely able to help the year 7s with their translations but was totally lost with the year 11s.

Google translate was my friend. :)

Was only five lessons so I was able to muddle through.

I also taught a year 12 psychology double lesson. Now THAT was interesting.

message 1614: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) OMG! I hadn't realised you were so talented, my dear! :-)

message 1615: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ain't talent. I just know how to bluff. ;)

message 1616: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Mel, it's only a British joke. And as most British jokes it's not funny.

Well, to me anyway.

Merci bien is fine otherwise :)

message 1617: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Thanks for clarifying that, Lorraine. I tweaked the front of the book as you suggested, just going to type it up now. I'm much happier with it. :-)

Will send it over later, if that's okay? x

message 1623: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Thanks Lorraine, it was fuelled by anger after recent events! lol

It's always advisable to write a scene like that when you can picture a nasty person in your mind! :-)

I love my job! :-)xx

message 1624: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments I'm curious now ! Who's the real life meanie ?

Mel, good thing you love your job, you're so good at it !

Glad to hear it! (:

Hope everything's going well with you and you get things sorted soon xx

message 1632: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh I did manage to read it before going out.

Lorraine's advice was excellent. Must more effective now.

Umm.

A bit repetitive on the iron though. Re-read that paragraph and you'll see what I mean. :)

message 1633: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Thanks Katy!

Okay, Patti, it was a first draft that I wrote down quickly. Will take another look at it today! xx

message 1634: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Jeeezzzz that was a quickie first draft???

M.A. Comley (melcom) I'm part of a big promo in the USA the details of which are on Impeding Justice's Amazon page.

You can pick up some great reads from top best-selling authors for free or for $0.99/77pence.

Impeding Justice and A Time For Change are both 77 pence for the next week or so.

message 1639: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Mel, do you think it's time we have a 'of interest to .com users' section in the group?

We're now at almost 2000 members and I expect a fair few are using .com...

Whatcha reckon

message 1640: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Sounds a great idea, Patti!

Just got back from the vets with Sammy, his leg is much better but he still has to go for another check up on Tues once he's finished his course of tablets! Phew!

message 1641: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh Mel, I'm so glad he's better! I hope the check-up on Tuesday gives the all clear!

I'll have a think about the .com targeted section.

Of course both .com and .uk links are welcome and expected in all author and new releases and other promo threads.

Just would be nice to have a place for .com users to find all their targeted offers, I think...

Maybe I'll run it past Simon, too.

message 1642: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) It may make the US authors feel a little more at home too. :-)

message 1643: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Absolutely Mel!

We want EVERYONE to feel welcome in our friendly corner of the universe. :)
