This review is from: Cruel Justice (DI Lorne Simpkins thriller part of a trilogy) (Kindle Edition)
Someone is killing women, decapitating them, and leaving them in the woods to be discovered by hikers and furtive lovers. DI Lorne Simpkins gets the case, and like her other two, dives in with her trademark energy and tenaciousness. In CRUEL JUSTICE, her third book, (which is actually a prequel) Mel Comley has become quite the storyteller. Her pacing is sharp, and there is not a wasted page. In other words, things happen, often at breakneck speed. But we also learn much more about Lorne's personal life and the people around her. Rather than simply portraying a superwoman police officer, the author lets us see Lorne's vulnerable side, and we understand better her mixed feelings about her rocky marriage, her new boss, and her partner. This is a terrific story, and one not to be missed.
Nice surprise on a dreary Sunday. ;-)

Patti, you won't be able to put Cruel Justice down, trust me! I read it in a day!

I'm not sure if I'll like Moonstone. I'll give it a go and if I don't get into it I'll move on.

Had another wonderful review today too.
This is where Final Justice and Impeding Justice began. Bodies are piling up and Lorne thinks she has a serial killer on her hands, someone with a personal vendetta against her.
This takes us right back to the beginning. We begin to understand the reasons between the different relationships in Lorne's life. The characters are fleshed out a bit more in this and as ever it was a complete page turner. I read it very quickly as it was so hard to put down. It was nice to be taken back so we could see the relationships unfolding, somehow it made the other two books make a lot more sense!
I can recommend this as an opener to the series. If you have read the other books, its a must read. if you haven't then it is an excellent place to start in a series of thrillers that are utterly impossible to put down!
;-)

Chance to win some copies of my books today on Frugal ereader. Drop by and WIN!! http://ow.ly/6TNdt ;-)))

Hopefully Dave will pass out on the couch early this evening so I can read in peace.;)

Bad Patti! Still haven't done the review! I promise I will before weeks end.

How are you?
Hope you liked Cruel Justice? ;-( ;-) lol

Oooooo I can be so mean!!!!!
Please do fix your new release thread title before your net dies again. Simon and I are being very picky about something for a change.

Fixed sorry, I'm flying around here, there and everywhere at the moment. Plus I have over 500 emails to respond to! Yikes! ;-)

Having finished Final Justice this morning I sadly said Au Revoir in the real hope we will meet again soon.
Now I have to ask, when will we meet again?

I've just finished the first draft of a new Lorne Novellette where she tackles the plight of greyhound racers.
The research has been horrendous!
I'm giving ALL the proceeds to P.U.P.S a dog rescue charity in Worcester.
I rang Sheila last night to tell her the news and she broke down in tears! She's saved over 1000 dogs now and received an MBE for the work she does.
The story should be out in about ten days!

Have you read Patsy Whyte's No Easy Road? No Easy Road It's not an easy road, but compelling as she describes her time in the child welfare system. It was interesting that she describes a number of paranormal encounters she had during that time.

Geoff thank you so much for a wonderful review. You hit the nail on the head, I wanted it to feel like a dramatisation rather than fiction.
Nice to know there weren't any typos too! lol
I'll definitely be looking up No Easy Road too.
Sarah, it's been my ambition since I started writing to donate funds to Sheila. I hope it sells well, because I know that EVERYTHING that is donated to her charity goes on the dogs she saves. That can't be said about other charities. ;-)

They're brilliant quality too! ;-)

No, I was reading Mel's short story while you were interrupting me on Skype :P. How rude!
