M.A. Comley (melcom) You don't have to apologise Katy. Hope the studying is going well I'll have my fingers crossed for you around exam time.

Tutoring your brother too? Watch you're not doing too much. I know pot and kettle! lol x

BTW the editor loved your role in the book! ;-)

Katy | 2662 comments I know I'm doing too much! Haha. Turns out I might have fractured my knee, too!

Woo! Can't wait to see my role in the book! x

message 954: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Oh no ! How did you manage that?

message 955: by Katy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katy | 2662 comments It was really silly! haha. I did it Friday

I've been in A&E all day, and have to go to the fracture clinic tomorrow to have it MRI'd haha

I'll be okay, don't worry!

message 956: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Oh crikey, I bet that's bloomin' painful, Katy. Never heard of a fractured knee before!!

Take care, missy. ;-)

message 957: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Hope it's ok Katy x

message 958: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Ow ow ow. Sounds like you may be spending a few weeks in plaster if you have fractured your knee. Take care and try to find some time to relax...

message 959: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments You might be lucky, I got a knee brace when I damaged around the knee joint so I was still able to use it a little which was much better than the full length plaster cast they had on me for the first week! Although that was in France so not sure if NHS do them, might be worth asking rather than having your leg unnecessarily completely encased. Of course it may be necessary depending on the injury :o)

Hope you are really lucky though and haven't fractured it at all

message 960: by Katy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katy | 2662 comments Thanks everyone (:

I'm almost certain I haven't fractured it (: It hurts a lot, but I don't think its plastered. The doctors couldn't decide! Some were saying fracture, the others were saying cartilage damage!

Will keep you all updated (:

message 961: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Yeeeeiiickkkk!! Better a fracture than cartilage damage I would think...

Anyway fingers crossed that all is well and it gets better!

message 962: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Holy moly! Cartilage damage will last for months, Katy. I hope it isn't that for your sake! No fun for you over the summer if it is. ;-)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Oh Katy, what a shame! Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Mel you are a real star with your charity work,Hollie sends a huge lick.

message 964: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Thanks Sarah, I try to put others before myself, I think it makes me a better person! ;-)

message 965: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh no Katy!

I hope it's nothing serious and that you heal very quickly!

message 966: by Kate (last edited May 02, 2012 04:00AM) (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments I have a big old floppy dog in the corner who is sleeping, but if he were awake would also lick you :)

Actually when I read Impeding Justice it was an overnight read because of the dog. I'd popped out for literally an hour and when my partner got home the dog was in a pool of vomit and urine, unable to stand and with his head lopsided. We thought he'd had a stroke and weren't sure he'd come out of the vets, but it was an infection that he has managed to mostly recover from.
So your books don't just help raise money and awareness for good causes; they also help stressed owners get through the anxiety of ill pets :) Thankyou for that Mel X

message 967: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Aw Kate. So glad to hear your dog is better must have been frightening for you.

I don't mind telling you that your comment brought a tear to my eye.

thank you for your kind words.

message 968: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments No, thank you for your skill as an author. I didn't think anything could help me relax and certainly had no expectation of going beyond the first few pages of a new book: instead it kept me gripped as I did my stint of dog watching.

Poor sparky is 14, already had arthritis and has needed help going up the stairs since his accident. As much as it will be awful when he goes, he has been very much loved unlike many other poor dogs.

Katy | 2662 comments UPDATE: Fracture and torn cartilage. Got an Op on tuesday.

Hope everything's going well for you, Mel! I expect a book next month ;) x

message 970: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Awwww Katy ! Hope the op goes okay and sending you lots of healing vibes.

message 971: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Aw Katy, that sucks. Feel better soon x

message 972: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Bloomin 'eck Katy, if you do something you certainly do it properly. Hope the op is quick and effective at sorting the problem.
Will this effect your exams?

message 973: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Poor Katy. I was thinking the same thing as Kate, will it affect your exams, chuck?

Fingers crossed everything goes well. Don't worry Lorne will see you through your darkest days if you have to recuperate in bed. x

message 974: by Katy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katy | 2662 comments You're all so lovely!

It's keyhole surgery, so I'm hoping it won't be too bad (: I've been revising a lot, so I'm hoping and praying the exams will go okay (:

You're right Kate, I certainly do things properly ;)

Can't wait to see Lorne and Pete again! ;)

message 975: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Yikes! Pete's gone in this one Katy, you took his place! lol

He'll make an appearance for the anthology though with that little minx Lorraine! ;-)

Let's hope the op isn't too painful. ;-) x

message 976: by Katy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katy | 2662 comments Haha, sorry Mel! Pretty doped up on painkillers ;)

Can't wait to see my part in the book! ;) x

message 977: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) I'll forgive you.

Take care. x

Have lots of packing to do today so won't be around much. ;-(

message 978: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) I'm looking for feedback on my blurb. What do you think? I hate giving away too much. Be honest. ;-)

Back on the force, DI Lorne Simpkins and her new partner, DS Katy Foster's first case is a robbery that has tragically ended in murder.

Within twenty-four hours yet another wealthy footballer's family suffers the same consequences.

Lorne sets out to unravel the complex case, while her thoughts lie with her MI6 fiancé, who is involved in a dangerous covert operation in Afghanistan.

message 979: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments On the plus side, at least you'll get loads of reading done in your spare time Katy...

Hope the op goes well, sucks that it has happened hope you recover quickly.

message 980: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments MI6 fiance? Is Lorne getting married again? Is it the dude from Impeding Justice?

message 981: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Dunno if 'suffers the same consequences' is quite the right phrase...

Meets the same fate?

Encounters the same something?

message 982: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Lorraine get on and read Final Justice! lol

Thanks Patti, will change that. ;-)

message 983: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Your blurb looks good Mel :o) short and snappy and intriguing! I need to read the 2nd book still

message 984: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Thanks Jud, that's what I was aiming for. ;-)

message 985: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I must say I prefer a short snappy blurb for a snappy page-turner thriller.

I want to be enticed, not told the story.

There you go gramma. Just told you how to suck eggs, didn't I? ;)

message 986: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments M wrote: "Lorraine get on and read Final Justice! lol"

Might just be my weekend read :)

message 987: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Yea I prefer short and snappy. When it's a full paragraph I often get bored and give up reading it.

Can't believe the spoilers I've just read though. Lorne's fiance? New partner?! :o( Poor Pete, and I hope Lorne at least gets to keep the dog...

message 988: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Wow, I was going to say the same as Lorraine! Phew has Lorne finally got rid of her husband, I never really liked him so glad about that! Not read Final Justice yet either: your books are so addictive I'm waiting for a spare day or two... a current rarity.

Like the blurb, but agree with Patti about the term consequences. If think of consequences as the result of an action, being murdered is the result of someone elses actions rather than ones own. Presumably the goal is some form of financial gain (bank robbery/ wealthy footballers family) so it could, arguably be the consequences of the 'Bad Persons' drive to obtain money but then the blurb would poss need to be written from their perspective. If that makes sense?

message 989: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Having said that I do like the short snappy yet informativeness of the blurb..... Just being pedantic. :)

message 990: by Katy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katy | 2662 comments Love the blurb, Mel!

But it's so not fair to tease us like that ;) x

message 991: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Let's join together in pedantry, Kate. :)

message 992: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Kate, I reckon something happened to him... like with the other male people in Lorne's life... what was it? Shot? needles stuck in the eyeballs until he couldn't take the pain anymore? kick in the spine? Head smashed with a hammer?

message 993: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments If the literary world is anything like the academic world, people (ie: me) have been shot down in flames for using the wrong term. Pedantry by critics who love you is good :)

I wouldn't be surprised Lorraine, Mel has got a sadistic streak lol. But I hope Lorne just got fed up of his whining and attention seeking dramatics, we all know Lorne was a workaholic but its understandable when her home life was shit!

message 994: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thank goodness for Mel's sadistic streak.

message 995: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Lol yea, one of the reasons why I love her so much !

message 996: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Oh yeah...

message 997: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) OMG! Go out for lunch and come back to this! Those who haven't read Final Justice need to get on and read it. ;-)

Yeah, Lorne kicked the hubby out in that one. Go Lorne!

Do I have a sadistic streak? Hmm...maybe. ;-)

Think of the new partnership as like Scott and Bailey or Cagney and Lacy from the 80s!

And Jud, Henry the dog has a staring role in this book too. ;-)

message 998: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Whoop Whoop so glad Lorne does it :D

message 999: by M.A. (new)
