Sans @Lisa Kay re: msg 99
#13 - The Descent was a movie about four or five women who to cave climbing/spelunking and come across a new species of bat-type creatures who eat humans. All but one of the women ends up dead and she hides in a giant pit of blood a body parts at one point. *shudders* My BFF (the one who passed a way a few years ago) loved horror films even though they scared the crap out of her. Made me watch them with her. >_<

#15 - LOL at the spoilers!

#16 - "Unresolved Sexual Tension". Good guess!

#17 & 18 - We are awesome. *fist bump*

#20 - Here's hoping we're all wrong about Ange!

~Megan~ (megadee) Lisa Kay’s Questions for Chapters 11 – 15

12. How did Penny get in the tangled thicket? Does she have some other undisclosed ability?
I think she crawled in there because she knew what was coming. I find her a bit unsettling. Freaky little kids....they get me every time! Every time I read about her, I picture that freaky little girl in Aliens.

13. Ick. The Pit. (Thank God there was a shower!) Are they going to have to deal with that again? Is there something dormant in there? OMG the pit was disgusting. I'm totally with you on the shower thing.

14. Well, Bob bit the dust. Were you surprised someone else died? How many of these folks will survive? And who? What about Mason’s wounds? Ok, the second they said he was fat, I knew he was outtie LOL! We're talking apocalypse and running away from snarling beasts...there was no way he was making it out alive. If I were in this book, I'd be the first to go LOL! I think there HAD to be some deaths to make the stakes a little higher.

15. What the hell was the “corpse” changing back into a man all about? And where did the body go? Is it still alive or did something else take it? This is what made me think of the whole shapeshifter thing....maybe they get stuck in their animal form and can't figure out how to transform back until death.

16. Okay, I’m thinking Mason and Jenna just need to shag and get it over with. Most of the time I like the sexual build-up, but in this instance I’m wondering if it would be best for the both of them – and everyone else. Comments? Am I the only one who digs a little violence with the sexual tension from time to time? I thought it was kinda hot. Megs=sick puppy

17. What was your impression of Dr. Chris Welsh? Mason being jealous of him – plus being an a$$hat over it? I don’t know why, but I thought they were going to get him and bring him back to the cabin. I like him so far...he's a bit nerdy and a nice opposite to Mason's extreme alphaness. Again, me likey the jealousy.

18. Was there any info in Mason’s flashback that was significant? There had to be something significant, but maybe it was just helping us to understand his motivation a bit better. This is that character-building we've all been longing for, right?

19. Will Tru stop cutting himself? Did Mason handle cleaning his wounds right? What about what he said about their needing him for all their survival? What will Tru do if he’s locked up in that bunker for the months of winter? I think Mason said the exact right thing to Tru. I really like his character.

20. Jenna and Angela have bonded over a bottle of Cognac. Comments? It was cute...and a nice break from all the trauma that came before and what I'm pretty sure still awaits us.

21. Who screamed at the end of Chapter 15? And why? Did you have to read on? Not every chapter ends in a cliffhanger – just the ones we chose as stopping points! I wanted to read on so badly, but I made myself stop! Picking it up today, though, and can't promise I will be this good again.

#13 - I had a good friend like that in high school; she would totally freak out - but still want to see them - with me! Like I could protect her. Ha!

#15 - Are you doing anything special for Halloween?

#16 - Was unsure about the U too, but I figured it might be "unresolved" as opposed to "unrelieved" or "unrequited."

#17 & 18 - ☺

#20 - Me too!

message 105: by Sans (new)

Sans @Megan re: msg 102

#12 - Newt!

#14 - No, I'd prolly be the first to get dead. XD

#15 - That's what I'm thinking now too.

#16 - You are not alone. I think it's pretty hot most of the time too. ^o^

#18 - Good point. I hate info-dumping, especially when it comes to characterization. I think the pacing for learning about the characters is pretty good, even though I wish I could know more NOW. These people are all strangers to each other, so they should be to us as well.

#15 - Nope, just coming home from work and bonding with a bottle of Nobilo, probably while finishing season 4 of Eureka. You?

If the latter, I wonder if Mitch is still alive but one of the demon dogs or a shapeshifter now?
Yeah, kept thinking that too.
That one was hanging back, taking in the situation, acted closer to a human than the others did.
Just wait!
@ Megan
Freaky little kids....they get me every time! Every time I read about her, I picture that freaky little girl in Aliens.
And the eyes of course..they all have that wide eyed thing going for them!

Now see, I missed that connection, but you are right. Time to get into shape.

#15 – Oh, wow! Good theory.

#16 – LOL! Sex and aggression = same center of the brain.

#17 – Think he’ll ever show any interest in Ange? Or have we crossed her off. She’ll probably sacrifice herself for her daughter.

#18 – True.

#19 – You are a much better woman than I, Gunna Din.

~Megan~ (megadee) @ Anomander OMG YES! Why do they always have abnormally large eyes that see into your soul??? Kind of like Elijah Wood's eyes in the LOTR trilogy...they should have had billing in the credits.

@ Lisa Kay #17 I thought about him with Ange at first, but now I just don't see it. I think she's toast. Watch, now we've said that, she'll probably live until she's 105. Also, I must admit that I read the blurbs for books 2 & 3, and I was spoiled a bit LOL! I'm kind of a spoiler whore. I'll gladly do the questions for those chapters!

@ Sans #16 I'm glad I'm not alone...I was feeling like a sexual deviant LOL!

Heather (messybar) Lisa Kay’s Questions for Chapters 11 – 15

12. How did Penny get in the tangled thicket? Does she have some other undisclosed ability?

I thought she found a way to get away and hide, like most scared kids. BUT I think she had a vision or premonition of it happening.

13. Ick. The Pit. (Thank God there was a shower!) Are they going to have to deal with that again? Is there something dormant in there?
Mega ICK factor! I think it will play a part because it was to disturbing not to revisit. I think its just a meat buffet. Not sure I want to think about it more than that.

14. Well, Bob bit the dust. Were you surprised someone else died? How many of these folks will survive? And who? What about Mason’s wounds?
I figured that he wouldn't make it, but I sorta thought he would last longer. Mason's tough, so I don't see this keeping him down. As for the others, I think Ange might not make it to the end. Still trying to figure out who is what animal though.

15. What the hell was the “corpse” changing back into a man all about? And where did the body go? Is it still alive or did something else take it?
I think these things can morph. With Mason saying repeatedly that they learn and can adapt, it only makes sense.

16. Okay, I’m thinking Mason and Jenna just need to shag and get it over with. Most of the time I like the sexual build-up, but in this instance I’m wondering if it would be best for the both of them – and everyone else. Comments?
Mason needs some attitude adjustment and Jenna needs to let some of the fear of becoming her mother go. But other than that, I enjoyed all the tension. Sorta think they both deserve it. lol

17. What was your impression of Dr. Chris Welsh? Mason being jealous of him – plus being an a$$hat over it?
I think Harvard is a little weird, not sure if its the situation though causing some oddness. And Mason? He's been an a$$hat through the entire book so far, so this came as no surprise. =)

18. Was there any info in Mason’s flashback that was significant?
I just thought it was to give us some insight as to what they are fighting and more info on how is brain worked.

19. Will Tru stop cutting himself? Did Mason handle cleaning his wounds right? What about what he said about their needing him for all their survival? What will Tru do if he’s locked up in that bunker for the months of winter?
Tru is growing up already and I think the cutting is a thing of the past.

20. Jenna and Angela have bonded over a bottle of Cognac. Comments?
Thought they might regret the action, but it was fun to read.

21. Who screamed at the end of Chapter 15? And why? Did you have to read on? Not every chapter ends in a cliffhanger – just the ones we chose as stopping points!
I did read on, but my suspicion of who screamed was confirmed.

#12. – Really? You are probably right.

#13 – Again, I think you are right; “too disturbing not to revisit.”

#14 – Well, I now think Mason is the wolf, not the leopard. Having trouble with the kid and the child.

#16 & 17 – LOL! Okay!

#19 – Yes. Who needs to cut themselves when things all around are blowing up.

#21 – You are smarter than me. I didn’t know who screamed. I was racking my brain.

Lina CaroB’s Answers to Sans' questions for 6-10

6. Things are happening pretty fast. Do you think Mason was right, the other people should have been left to their own devices? Or do you agree with Jenna, that they have to help them? I agree with Jenna, the more of them there are, the more likely they are to survive. Plus I just couldn’t leave people to die knowing I could have prevented it.

7. Do you think the new comers have anything to do with the passage Caro pointed out in question 3, and Jenna remembers in chapter 7? Yes :-)

8. Where do you think this knowledge Jenna and Penny have is coming from? I thought Jenna’s was a genetic foretelling like her dad. Not sure about Penny as Ange doesn’t seem to have it, but possibly because Penny is that much younger, and children are more open / susceptible to the supernatural…

9. The demon dogs used to be people? I have to admit, I didn't see that coming. What do you think, some kind of zombie werewolf that can't turn back? I saw the link to the rabid dogs in the prison, but wasn’t expecting the pit full of prison suits. Ugh.

10. Thoughts on what happened to Edna, both the transformation and how Mason used her to buy them time to get away? Gruesome and unexpected to have one die off so quickly. In a weird kind of way, considering it’s a shape-shifting–spider-gone-wrong we’re talking about, I thought it more realistic that there was a casualty in the apocalyptic world.

11. Telepathy too? Where the heck is this book going? Lol, there’s got to be some perks to make up for the end of the world as we know it :-)

Lina Lisa Kay’s Questions for Chapters 11 – 15

12. How did Penny get in the tangled thicket? Does she have some other undisclosed ability? ooh, good question Lisa Kay! I can’t answer this one without giving it away, heehee.

13. Ick. The Pit. (Thank God there was a shower!) Are they going to have to deal with that again? Is there something dormant in there? I did wonder about zombies, just because I was expecting anything and everything in this book.

14. Well, Bob bit the dust. Were you surprised someone else died? How many of these folks will survive? And who? What about Mason’s wounds? I was really surprised someone else bit the dust so soon, but didn’t think Mason’s wounds would be too bad. He can’t die, he’s the hero.

15. What the hell was the “corpse” changing back into a man all about? And where did the body go? Is it still alive or did something else take it? I thought the dogs took it, or ate it, but not sure.

16. Okay, I’m thinking Mason and Jenna just need to shag and get it over with. Most of the time I like the sexual build-up, but in this instance I’m wondering if it would be best for the both of them – and everyone else. Comments? The sexual tension did seem to drag on a bit.

17. What was your impression of Dr. Chris Welsh? Mason being jealous of him – plus being an a$$hat over it? I don’t know why, but I thought they were going to get him and bring him back to the cabin. I was hoping Welsh would be a bit more alpha. I’m not a huge fan of jealousy, but I think it gave Mason a vulnerability that was needed in his character.

18. Was there any info in Mason’s flashback that was significant? Hmm, don’t think so.

19. Will Tru stop cutting himself? Did Mason handle cleaning his wounds right? What about what he said about their needing him for all their survival? What will Tru do if he’s locked up in that bunker for the months of winter? I have a soft spot for Tru, really can’t wait to read his book. No idea about the cleaning of the wounds, but I think Mason handled him right.

20. Jenna and Angela have bonded over a bottle of Cognac. Comments? Alcohol, the great equalizer :-)

21. Who screamed at the end of Chapter 15? And why? Did you have to read on? Not every chapter ends in a cliffhanger – just the ones we chose as stopping points! lol, yes, I had to read on!

message 126: by Lina (new)

Lina Ok, I know I'm way behind here, but I don't get why everyone else foresees something bad happening to Ange? Did I miss something in the earlier part of the book that made that clear?

message 127: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) I don't think there was anything in the book making that clear...I just personally see her as the only expendable one at this point. I'm probably dead wrong, though...I quite frequently am LOL!
