Finished The Help (LOVED IT) last night and right now just reading The Secret Garden during lulls at work. Not sure what to pick up next.

I just finished The Tenth Man. It was so good! It was the first of Greene's that I've read and I'm excited to read more from him.

I've also slowly been working on Lolita. It's such a difficult book to read. It has beautiful prose, but the topic is so stomach churning I needed a break from it for a bit.

Heat Wave and Naked Heat are really books. So I bought them for a gag gift for my mom awhile ago, and I picked up Heat Wave last night. Not too far into it, but I tend to associate the actors with the characters in the book. Beckett is much better than Heat though. :)

I started Sing Me to Sleep last night. I had first seen it on Goodreads Giveaways and it looked so good that I decided to buy it. I'm really enjoying it so far.

I have Zombies vs. Unicorns on hold at the library. It's one my groupreads. I'm really excited to start it-the cover looks awesome.

Just finished the second instalment in The Hunger Games series and I'm starting Carrie, by Steven King. :) It's promising so far - sad, though.

I finished Heat Wave and started and finished Naked Heat. Both were just sort of okay. I really like Castle, but was disappointed by the books. In my opinion, this is one time the show is better than the books.

Still reading The Secret Garden and am loving it again.

I just finished The Vampire Lestat and now I'm reading Middlemarch by George Eliot. I liked Lestat but it didn't really grip me. I've read parts of Middlemarch before, for a class in college, but I'm really trying to get through the whole thing this time around.

I'm reading The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. What do you think of it, Sonja?

I really liked The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. I thought Rose was a character who was *real* in a way that many characters aren't. I actually liked how flawed their whole family was and how they interacted with each other. I really enjoyed the overall feeling of nostalgia and even sadness in the story and the way the timeline jumped around. I can see how a lot of people could be unsettled by it but I liked how different it was. I gave it 4 *'s because there were a few moments that dragged but I really liked it overall.

I think it could make a really good group read since there are so many things to discuss about the story. I might nominate it...

I finished Delirium last night. And I really should know better than finishing a book like that right before I go to sleep! The ending was such a cliffhanger! And I needed hugs before I was able to sleep. The sequel is scheduled for 2012 according to Goodreads, that will be a LOOONG wait...

I'm reading so much lately. My Contemporary Literature class requires that we read a book a week (I'm reading Nohow On: Company, Ill Seen Ill Said, Worstward Ho: Three Novels for the class right now, Company is just about the weirdest novel I've ever read) and I am taking two poetry classes that I have to do a lot of reading for. For fun, I'm reading Pink, which I won from goodreads giveaways. I'm really enjoying it so far.

I just finished The Dogs of Riga by Henning Mankell. I am undecided as to what to start next. I thought that I would read something really quick like a Jack Ketchem horror novel, but now I am thinking I might read the second book in the Millennium Trilogy.

Friday I got a book from Goodreads Giveaways that I had won on Tuesday! I love that it was fast, especially after all the problems with waiting on or not getting at all others I had won. Anyways, I read Zita the Spacegirl in about 20 minutes. It is a graphic novel about a young girl that goes to outerspace to rescue her friend that had been kidnapped by aliens. Such a delightful read, and I am super excited I won it.

I had won a book previously and after I read it passed it along to my neice who loves to read. Her brother, not so much, but this book is something he will like. I called to tell him I had a book to give him and explained to him what it was about. He must have told his parents he had to come to our house immediately, because my sister called and asked why they needed to come. They live about 45 miles away. :)

I just started Forensic Detective: How I Cracked the World's Toughest Cases It's an interesting read that deals with the forensic labs and what can be learned from dead bodies and how. It's a great read for fans of CSI, NCIS and similar shows.

I finished Middlemarch earlier in the week and then I read Water for Elephants, which I really liked, and now I've started Olive Kitteridge.

Sonja, funny coincidence, I also just finished (a week ago or so) Water for Elephants, which I thought was really good except for the ending, and am now reading Scenes of Clerical Life, which is another by George Eliot. Did you like Middlemarch? I'm thinking that I might try that one in the near future.

I'm also trying to get into The Help, and am reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone & Holes for my YA lit class this week.

Fixing Delilah was a really good book! I'm about 100 pages into Unearthly now and I'm so hooked. I'm loveing everything about it so far!

Anika, that is a funny coincidence! I also really liked Water for Elephants but felt that it was really quick compared to Middlemarch. I enjoyed Middlemarch but it was definitely more of an ordeal. Its very dense so I do recommend it but I'd say that you need to like the 19th century British style before giving a full endorsement. How do you like Scenes of Clerical Life?

Sonja, I'm really enjoying Scenes of Clerical Life so far! It's a nice way of getting a taste of George Eliot without having to commit to a huge text. I'm sure Middlemarch would be a huge commitment, that's why I was thinking about tackling it over the summer. I'm definitely a fan of 19th C British Lit, so I'm sure I'd enjoy it!

Anika, I totally agree! Middlemarch was fantastic but the reason that I managed to get through it pretty quickly was that I was really sick for a week, aka many hours of reading a day. I had started it for a class a few years back but decided that I was going to finish the whole thing. On a different note, if you ever want to read a 19th century tome together I'd be totally down for that, just let me know!

Yeah, that would be great! With classes right now it would be hard for me to make that sort of commitment, but I have several lined up that I want to read come summer. Sadly, I've never read any Thackeray or Dickens, but I have both on my to-be-read list!

I've read plenty of Dickens but I've missed a few and I'm actually starting to like his writing, which is revolutionary for how I felt about Dickens in HS, and I've read no Thackeray either. I'm also looking to read some Russian authors, Dostoyevsky & the gang, so I'll see how that goes... Summer sounds like a good time to read huge books, so we'll figure out something then! Hope your semester goes well. :)

I finally got round to reading Water for Elephants and I loved it. I also recently finished Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary and The Princess and the Goblin. I'm currently reading Jan Zonder Vrees and I'm also giving The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie a chance, even though it's not the kind of book I usually pick up.

Nikki, I bought The Princess and the Goblin a few months ago but I haven't gotten to it yet. I absolutely loved the movie, which is why I want to read the book. Have you seen the movie? Is the book similar?

I love the movie too, I used to watch it all the time as a kid. It's been a while since I last saw it though, so I can't tell you how similar the two are. I didn't like the book as much as I loved the movie, mostly because the movie has this childhood nostalgia around it. It was fun to read, but it didn't make that much of an impression on me.

I just finished Revolution 1989: The Fall of the Soviet Empire and it was fascinating. If you have any interest in Eastern Europe/Soviet Russia, I highly recommend it.
