I just started An Ocean of Air: A Natural History of the Atmosphere and it's awesome. The woman who wrote it is excellent at distilling complex topics into easily digestible chunks. Not only that, the dust jacket looks really cool.

I'm actually reading several things right now, but I'm focusing on Revolutionary Road, partly because watching Titanic the other night made me want to see Leo and Kate together again and I refuse to watch until I read and partly because I've been wanting to run away from my regular life lately. If I apply myself, I should be able to finish this this weekend.I'm also reading Little Women and The Golden Notebook. I really hope to finish all of these and a few others over this break.
I just got Room from a secret santa swap, and I'm totally excited to start it! I'm saving it for the plane ride to Santa Fe tomorrow. I'm also hoping to start Prodigal Summer and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? once I get to my parents' house.
I'm in the middle of Dash & Lily's Book of Dares. I'm really enjoying it! Dash is like the male version of Jessica Darling.
I'm currently reading Eclipse (for the 6th time), Uncle Silas and The Carnivorous Carnival. I finished Pride and Prejudice earlier today and wasn't too impressed by it.
Nikki wrote: "I'm currently reading Eclipse (for the 6th time), Uncle Silas and The Carnivorous Carnival. I finished Pride and Prejudice earlier today and was..."I also finished Pride and Prejudice not long ago and was sorely disappointed. I expected so much more of a classic.
I finished Revolutionary Road and Renascence yesterday. Both were quite good. Revolutionary Road was rather depressing, but I was expecting that. Renascence was beautiful. I hadn't read much Millay before; now I'm definitely a fan.
I am reading 'Friends and Lovers' by Eric Jerome Dickey again - I love the book - I recommend it to everyone
I am still on The Hunger Games. With Christmas and my boyfriend's birthday, I've had no time to read :(
I started and finished Still Alice within a few hours, IT WAS THAT GOOD. Pretty scary too at the same time.
I just finished Eclipse and yesterday I read Nightmare Abbey, which is now one of my all-time favourites. So, so good.
I just finished The Reader, it was good better than the movie I think. And I'll go on my reading of A Brief History of Time, it has taken my over a month to finish
Just finished reading Before the Mortgage: Real Stories of Brazen Loves, Broken Leases, and the Perplexing Pursuit of Adulthoodand Lonely Planet Unpackedthey were perfect for traveling becasuse they are both short story collections so I could read one on the subway and not have to worry about forgetting where I was in the book. Also I love memoir-type reads, but this was better because of the various authers you get a change in writing style which was refreshing.
I'm doing my annual reading of A Christmas Carol, and loving it like I always do. I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas is having a wonderful holiday!
I'm currently bouncing back and forth between two books--One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Brideshead Revisited. I am really liking both of them.
I just finished The Barber of Seville and The Marriage of Figaro. 'The Barber of Seville' was great, the sequel less so. Now I want to start on some Molière.
Finished My Name Is Memory. It had a good story premise, but I was a little disappointed by the ending. On to reading Nightshade. I'm 30 pages in and loving it so far!
I just finished Room by Emma Donoghue. It was mediocre at best. My review is here:http://readingwhilefemale.blogspot.co...
Hmm... I'm supposed to read Room for the blog. That'll be interesting.I'm readingMemoirs of a Geisha. I'm enjoying it so far, but the author keeps switching back and forth between Japanese and English terms, I wish he'd just pick one. Like he'll use an honorific like 'san' for a character and then a couple pages later say Mr.
I finished Dash & Lily's Book of Dares last week. It was really cute! I'm about a hundred pages into Revolution right now.

I finished Atonement last night and started The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern. Not too far into it yet, but so far so good.
Nullifidian wrote: "I finished The Code of the Woosters last night and I added Monkey Girl: Evolution, Education, Religion, and the Battle for America's Soul by Edward Humes to my currently-reading list for the "Order..."Oh, what a coincidence! I just finished reading Monkey Girl a few days ago. It was interesting. But then I once had the time of my life spending a few hours reading dusty old criminal case files. Anyway it's also left me pretty pessimistic about reconciling such disparate worldviews, especially since I'm now reading The Battle for God, about fundamentalist movements and how they rise up in response to the perception of forced modernization.
I'm also reading Let's Bring Back, which is basically an index of things that have gone out of fashion. It's already helped me, because one of the first items it brings up is the "automat", and I subsequently came across the term in The Erasers (which I just finished earlier today).
I finally finished A Brief History of Time and I'm currently on Speak which I started like a month ago and it has been good so far. Also I just started Libra.
Has anyone readBattle Royale? I saw it as a recomendation for Hunger Games fans. The plot is really similar.
To be honest, I thought it was rather gruesome and you follow about 20-30 students, so I didn't really connect to any of the characters. It felt more like a mass killing than a good story. But I've heard that in the book the characters are better fleshed out.

I LOVE that book! So many good ideas! I think I'm going to bring back the cocktail hour.

I pretty much knew I would. Though I've never read The Cod..."
I'll have to try to read it soon. One of my old lit professors talked about Wodehouse a bit, but I have to credit Gilmore Girls with getting me to buy the book.
I just started reading The God Delusion and finished Pride and Prejudice. I'm quite satisfied so far with TGD, it's exceeded my expectations, quite frankly.
The last book I finished reading was A Million Little Pieces (despite the controversy surrounding it I enjoyed it). Currently I'm reading Revolutionary Road, Auschwitz: A Doctor's Eyewitness Account, and Howl's Moving Castle.
I'm finishing The First Man In Rome by Colleen McCullough tonight(Such a wonderful book, a little sad that I'm almost finished) and still reading Never Give Up:Relentless Determination To Overcome Life's Challenges by Joyce Meyers(A fantastic book so far!!) Messenger: Mattie J.T.Stepanek and Heartsongs(I think Mattie, the subject of this book, was an incredible human being and we all could learn alot about living life based on how he lived through his short but remarkable life!!)
Keith, Do you think you'll read the rest of the Rome series? I've heard wonderful things about it and I own the first book, but I haven't read it yet.
Just finished What the Dead Know (after Boyfriend woke me up when he left for work at 6am! Yuck!) Excellent book! Great suspense! Would highly recommend it!
I finished The Book of Tomorrow last night and started The Officers Club by Ralph Peters.
Book of Tomorrow was actually quite good. It makes me wish Goodreads had half stars though. Not quite a five but better than others I gave a four.

I finished Wish 2 days ago and really loved it! I don't usually cry much when things are sad in a book, but here I did. For those interested: you can read it for free on Skyshelf.com until January 3rd. I'm currently reading Revolutionary Road, Lori enjoyed it so much I thought I should bump it up on my list :)
I FINALLY finished Selected Stories of O. Henry last night. Even though I really enjoyed it, it was nice to finally be able to move on. Now I'm reading Need by Carrie Jones and Behind the Mist - Book One of the Mist Trilogy by M.J. Evans. I was definitely thinking of staying up into the wee hours of the morning to read Need, but I figure that's what tonight is for! ;)
I just finished Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime. It was fairly gossipy, but also interesting at the same time. Probably a much better read if you are left leaning...
I just finished Rebecca and I was pretty much blown away by it. I did not expect it to be this good at all.
