I didn't read any reviews until after I was done either. Spoilers are the worst thing in the world!

Over the weekend I finished Bound by Antonya Nelson and started Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. So far, it is really great. Some quotes are just jumping out and grabbing me. I will post them in the quote thread.

message 2753: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments I'm currently reading Graceling and I'm enjoying it so far! So excited about it being the groupread next month, so I'll be able to discuss it with you all.

message 2754: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Graceling is great! Did you read Fire yet, Daisy?

message 2755: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments Not yet, but I'm going to! I finished Graceling last night and really enjoyed it :)

message 2756: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Just finished Mistborn: The Final Empire. Loved it! Now I'm reading The Shining.

I finished Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare last night. I really loved it. I hope the others by her are just as good. Haven't had time to pick anything else up yet. Have no idea what to start now.

message 2758: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 604 comments I just finished The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine. It was great, though I didn't like it as much as Ella Enchanted. I'm reading The Handmaid's Tale now.

message 2759: by Emily (new)

Emily O (readingwhilefemale) | 487 comments I finally finished The Mists of Avalon. What a book! For awhile I wasn't sure that it was going to live up to my expectations, but the last bit really blew me away. I've always thought that story of Arthur was one of the greatest tragedies, and this one is even more tragic than the original. Instead of just having Arthur and Lancelot as the tragic heroes, you get to know and understand every single person in the book. You don't just love Arthur, you love Lancelot and Morgaine and even Gwenhwyfar in the end. You love Merlin, yes, but you also love Nimue. Everyone in this book is fully human, so everyone is a tragic hero, and that makes it all the more heart-wrenching.
I'll put up a real review tomorrow. I need a little more time to think about this one. For now I can tell you that it was definitely worth all 875 pages.

message 2760: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments That sounds amazing Emily! I will definitely have to read it! I love anything to do with King Arthur.

Hmmm... All of your negative responses to The Shining is a little bit discouraging. I'm only about 50 pages in, but I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm hoping for a kind of creepy suspenseful type story. And after reading Jessi's review I really wanted to read the book.

message 2761: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) I've been on a haunted house kick lately. I recently finished House of Leaves and The Haunting of Hill House. I enjoyed both of them but they each had their drawbacks as well. I'm going to start The Line today.

Kimberly, I really enjoyed The Shining when I read it years ago. The movie is also one of my favorites around this time of year. If you're enjoying it at 50 pages, I think you'll really like it and get sucked in for the rest (if you haven't already!)

message 2762: by Emily (new)

Emily O (readingwhilefemale) | 487 comments My review for The Mists of Avalon is up! It's a hard book to review, but a great book to read.

message 2763: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Heather- Good to know, thanks!!!

I did decide to start the Harry Potters so I am on Sorcerers Stone right now. Started last night after the most boring classes for the last two days and getting everything ready for the potluck party today at work. I love this time of year, but boy is it ever busy.

message 2765: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments I finished reading Twenty Boy Summer a few days ago and now I'm reading Nightshade.

message 2766: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I think for the Harry Potter books I'm going to read the 6th and then stop. I think I'll enjoy the movie better that way.

message 2767: by Anika (new)

Anika (anlynn) | 106 comments Kimberly, my best friend is like you- he hates reading the books before watching the movies... and I'm the total opposite! I HAVE to reread the book before I see the movie for the first time. Funny.

Just finished Ape House by Sara Gruen! I liked it way more than I thought I would! Now I'm on to Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson!

message 2770: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments Finished The Fairy Godmother last night, I really enjoyed it! It makes you look at fairytales differently. I've started The Curse of the Mistwraith, but it'll probably be awhile before I finish it since my internship started today..

Sashana Amanda wrote: "Currently reading all the books in the "confessions of Georgia Nicolson" series. Loveee them, they are so funny. I'm on number 7 so far :)"

Ohh, I loved that series! I didn't get that far though. Did you see the movie?

message 2772: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I've finally reached the point where I'm going to go crazy if I don't start doing some reading for me, so I've picked up Secrets of the Flesh: A Life of Colette and I've read a few chapters so far. I really like it. The book isn't fiction, but I'm having a hard enough time coming away from the real world to read about someone else's life, so I think a biography is pretty good for me right now. And Colette is pretty fascinating.

I finished Chamber and started Prisoner. The first few books of Harry Potter are really quick reads. Haven't started the long ones yet, but still may finish before the movie is released.

message 2774: by Anika (new)

Anika (anlynn) | 106 comments I just finished Mockingjay finally! It was somewhat disappointing though. I liked the first book and the second even better, but the last was kind of a letdown. I'm gonna go into the discussion thread and reading everyone's thoughts.

Not sure what I'm going to start next, maybe World Without End by Ken Folllet; I've been wanting to read that for a while.

message 2775: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Yup, it was really good.

Mockingjay was a little bit of a disappointment for me too! I mean I liked it but I was expecting the caliber of the first two!

message 2779: by Niel (new)

Niel | 390 comments I want to start hunger games, but i have a lot of other books to read frist. Now i have also started maximum ride.

message 2780: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments I just started reading The Maze Runner. I'm only about 40 pages into it but I like it so far. I didn't want to stop reading but a couple people kept texting me and I was getting annoyed having to stop every couple of paragraphs because my phone was going off.

message 2781: by Madge (new)

Madge (madge_the_bibliomaniac) I finished The Time Traveler's Wife and The Five People You Meet in Heaven this weekend, and now I'm reading The Namesake and Through the Looking Glass.

message 2783: by Anika (new)

Anika (anlynn) | 106 comments I just started Sister Carrie for one of my English classes and am actually really enjoying it so far. Also just started Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows which I hope to finish by the 18th.

message 2784: by Natanya (last edited Nov 08, 2010 08:40AM) (new)

Natanya (vraisemble) | 255 comments I just started The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It'll probably take me the next month to read it, though, because I have so little time. I'm also reading Frankenstein for my English class, but I read that last semester too, so I'm kind of just skimming. Oh and I recently read (and just finished an essay on...yay) the play Venus by Suzan-Lori Parks, which is disturbing but very interesting.

Natanya-- I really enjoyed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. There were a few parts that dragged a little bit but I loved it!

message 2786: by Natanya (new)

Natanya (vraisemble) | 255 comments My dad was obsessed with it when he read it over the summer. Every time I'd walk by him when he was reading he'd be like, THIS IS SO GOOD YOU HAVE TO READ THIS. And I'm like, uh, okay, I will...

message 2787: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
Haha well I hope it lives up to the hype from your dad! It really was so good. As a whole, it absolutely made up for the parts you had to work to get through!

message 2788: by Spencer (new)

Spencer (spencerafreeman) I've started rereading the Harry Potter series. I read the first two this weekend and now I'm reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I've actually never read 5-7, and it's been over 10 years since I've read the first four, so I'm excited to be enraptured with the Hogwarts world all over again :)

I seriously need to just grab Harry Potter and start reading. I feel like a bad reader for not having read the series yet!

message 2790: by Spencer (new)

Spencer (spencerafreeman) Wait, Jamie -- are you telling me you've never read HP? I refuse to believe it!

message 2791: by Agnes (new)

Agnes I haven't read Harry Potter either...I just can't seem to get into it!

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
It's true guys...I haven't! I plan to rectify this in 2011. And Agnes, I'm glad I'm not the only one!

message 2793: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 1 comments I'm currently reading Sacred Sins by Nora Roberts and it's cool.

message 2794: by Kelly A. (new)

Kelly A. | 499 comments I'm reading Mary Queen of Scotland and the Isles. It's a HUGE book. I've read almost 500 pages and am barely halfway through. A bit disheartening, but it's still pretty good.

message 2795: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I just finished listening to the 5th Harry Potter book. Dang the end of that book is so emotional. Even though I've probably read it four or five times, it still gets to me.

message 2796: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments Amanda - I really enjoyed The Last Olympian, hope you like it!

It's been awhile since I read the HP books, I feel like I should reread them. I know the first 4 by heart, but I'm scared to reread 5-7 because of all the sadness (I like to pretend some things didn't happen).
Jamie - You should get to them! I think you'll be hooked once you start.

message 2797: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 279 comments I am currently re-reading all the Harry Potter books. I am actually listening to them, the reader is fantastic!

message 2798: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Melissa- I love Jim Dale! He is such an amazing narrator.

message 2799: by Spencer (new)

Spencer (spencerafreeman) I'll forgive you, Jamie, only because I know you've read a zillion other equally fabulous books :) BUT, 2011 you have to give 'em a try.

As I said before I'm rereading the series. Just finished #3 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and I'll be picked up the 4th (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) immediately -- as in, as soon as I finish writing this post!

I'm excited to get to books 5-7 because I'll be reading those for the first time. I'm actually enjoying rereading the first 4 again because I'm noticing a lot more things that weren't put into the movies, and it makes me feel like I'm getting "bonus features"! Haha!

message 2800: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 279 comments Anastasia I feel the same way when I am reading them!
