I have read the first two (listened to them on audio) and really like the series so far. I understand it is no longer an active series, but that is ok, I still like it.

Susie Fevella (susieinks) | 821 comments This morning I finished A Nose for Murder by Lee Charles Kelley . I'm not quite sure how I would rate this one. There were some good things about it, and some not so good things about it. I think I'll read the second book and see if I like the characters a little better after I get used to them.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished Ghost Ship (Port Chatham Series #2) by P. Alderman .

Wow, I love this series! This second book was just excellent! This series has become one of my top 5 favourites. I just hope the author keeps writing them. :)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Deborah wrote: "Hi Guys - Just wanted to let you know, I'm going to "disappear" for a few days. We put my beloved cat to sleep yesterday, and I'm not handling it at all well. I will be back.....but need a few days."
I'm so sorry. I'm a cat lover myself and some of the worst days in life are the days they leave us. I'm thinking about you.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Had the day off, so I've just finished my second book today, Angel's Verdict (Beaufort & Company, #4) by Mary Stanton . This was, I think, the best book in the series so far. The first few were plagued by an awkwardness, as the author made the protagonist find her place in the series plot in a piecemeal, frustrating fashion that often made me want to toss the book across the room, but I'm glad I stuck with this series. This book has her in control of what's going on around her, but having to decide if the impact on her life is worth it. I really look forward to the next book in the series.

Kaye (momgee) | 862 comments Finished Night of the Living Dandelion A Flower Shop Mystery by Kate Collins last night and really liked it a lot. I was a little leery of the vampire aspect but it was excellent. Kate Collins sure knows how to write a mystery!!

Wow! I'm so sorry to hear that. My sincere condolences to her and, if it would ever cheer her up, your Mom can tell her that I loved all her books and would like to thank her for providing me with many enjoyable hours of reading!

Susie in KS - I LOVED the Lee Charles Kelley books! Wish there were more. (Of course, I'm a dog lover too)

Deborah - So sorry about your cat. Big hugs to you and you're in my prayers.

Just finished Final Exam (Murder 101, #4) by Maggie Barbieri and really enjoyed it. I think the Allison Bergeron series is a lot of fun and I'm glad Maggie has another one either just out or coming out soon! : )

Nell, I got an arc from Kate probably because I've reviewed one of her books before.

message 2115: by Karen (new)

Karen Just finished Poisoned Pins by Joan Hess.I liked it and gave it 4 stars, but i am extremely easy to please when it comes to cozies.

message 2117: by Kate (new)

Kate (kate28) | 141 comments ^ Sorry to hear about your cat Deborah :( It is so hard to lose an animal.

I just finished The Queen's Jewels (Murder, She Wrote, #34) by Jessica Fletcher and it had me going from beginning to end- I could hardly put it down! I would say this is one of the best I have read in the series so far!

message 2118: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin C (caitkom) | 199 comments Just finished Absolutely, Positively (Lucy Valentine, #3) by Heather Webber . I loved it! This has quickly become one of my favorite series.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished Shot Through Velvet (Crime of Fashion, #7) by Ellen Byerrum . I love this series and was so happy to see that she was still writing the crime of fashion mysteries. This one didn't disappoint, it was fun but she still managed to address the economic issues with grace and empathy. And I didn't guess whodunit until I was supposed to. :)

AmyD (justamyd) | 25 comments Just finished Blackwork (A Needlecraft Mystery, #13) by Monica Ferris . Really enjoyed this one! Buttons and Bones (A Needlecraft Mystery, #14) by Monica Ferris
next up!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) My DH has been gone for a boys weekend, so I've had the luxury of doing nothing but read! Just finished Bean There, Done That (Maggy Thorsen Mystery #3) by Sandra Balzo . I think this is a great series - and this story might have been one of the best so far. The characters are really well written and the sense of place is done well. I'm really looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

message 2125: by Nell (new)

Nell | 1223 comments I just finished Love Her to Death (Daytime Mystery, #2) by Linda Palmer Love Her to Death, the second daytime drama mystery. I like this mystery series and the daytime drama storylines that are a backdrop. She's added a mystery man as a third suitor for the main character, so I'm wondering where she's going with this subplot. Of course, that makes me want to read the next one so I can find out! It's a light cozy read with a few twists in the mystery.

Caroline | 661 comments Just finished Aunt Dimity and the Family Tree (Aunt Dimity, #16) by Nancy Atherton and I'm happy to say it was an enjoyable read (I have much preferred some in this series to others). Also just finished The Glass Is Always Greener by Tamar Myers and it was okay but I think I'm tired of this series. Some of the characters are really annoying me now.

I felt the same about the new Aunt Dimnity too.

message 2131: by Kimmie (new)

Kimmie (thatkimmiegirl) | 100 comments I finished Shadows on the Coast of Maine last night. It was terrible. The characters were down right vicious in their actions. One person even set another one's house on fire. This wasn't my kind of cozy.
-Kimmie

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I just finished up two books today - The Body in the Library by Agatha Christie on CD/Audio and Curiosity Thrilled the Cat by Sofie Kelly. Really enjoyed both books. The Agatha Christie was perfect for the long haul to work and Curiosity thrilled the cat was a great start to a new series - I'm really looking forward to more!

message 2134: by Carol (new)

Carol (countesscarola) | 10 comments Just finished the Ivy Malone Mysteries by Lorena McCourtney--these books were an excellent fast read. I read the whole series in less than a week and I am hoping there will be more. Lorena is a GoodReads author and the series is available on the Kindle. Ivy is an older heroine, I easily identified with her-I think many of you would enjoy these books.

message 2135: by Zoe (new)

Zoe (bookwormfromathens) | 712 comments I finished Even Cat Sitters Get the Blues A Dixie Hemingway Mystery by Blaize Clement today. Well I must admit, I didn't enjoy this one as much as I did the previous two. Maybe because the plot seemed a bit far-fetched and there wasn't much action involving Dixie herself. However, Blaize Clement remains one of my favorite cozy authors and I expect the next books will be better.Plus, I want to see Dixie coming out of her shell, getting over her grief and start living again.

Lynne (gwenalynne) | 4 comments I just finished Curiosity Thrilled the Cat (Magical Cats Mystery, #1) by Sofie Kelly and really enjoyed it.

message 2139: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished reading An Ice Cold Grave. It weasn't a great book, but was a good mystery. I did do some skimming. Some parts of the book seemed redundant. It really wasn't all that cosy of a mystery. I also finished Every Secret Thing, a Laura Lippman mystery. This book is a stand alone and not as cosy as her Tess Monaghan series.

Melissa (lissieb7) | 80 comments I finished Wicked Weaves (A Renaissance Faire Mystery, #1) by Joyce Lavene and really enjoyed it! It really has me looking forward to Ren Faire this year!

message 2141: by Kimmie (new)

Kimmie (thatkimmiegirl) | 100 comments I finished To Have and to Kill: A Wedding Cake Mystery yesterday. It was okay but I don't think I liked it enough to read anymore in the series. I don't like when authors put you inside the killer's head. I guess it is just a quirk I have. Thankfully cozy authors don't usually do that. Anyone else find this annoying?
-Kimmie

message 2142: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 661 comments Just finished another one by Joyce & Jim Lavene A Touch of Gold (A Missing Pieces Mystery, #2) by Joyce Lavene and I really enjoyed it. Aside from the fact that I know Joyce & Jim, I enjoy all their books and I especially like the paranormal aspect to the Missing Pieces series - not too over the top.

WTF Are You Reading? | 8 comments I love, love, LOVEMaid For Murder This was the first in the series and I know that it won't be my last. The pace of the book is just right and you think that you know "who done it" and then...WHAM! NOT!
LOVE it.

Maggie (ceodraiocht) | 17 comments Just finished sue Grafton's U, Dean Koontz Taken, and Charlene Harris Aurora Teagarden mystery series. Koontz touches on horror, but it wasn't realistic so not too gruesome for me. His use of prose to paint imagery and in that book was superb.

message 2146: by Lori (new)

Lori | 5 comments I don't know if she's specifically a cozy, but I just finished the first Anne Perry (Charlotte & Thomas Pitt) mystery. I was thrilled to find another author that I liked. I was, however, told that her subsequent books get more "kinky" so I don't know how long I'll stick it.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Kimmie wrote: "I finished To Have and to Kill: A Wedding Cake Mystery yesterday. It was okay but I don't think I liked it enough to read anymore in the series. I don't like when authors put you ins..."

Kimmie - Thanks for the heads up - I was looking at this book to add to the TBR pile, but not if part of the story is told from the killer's POV. I don't like that - I read cozies because I can enjoy the mystery without being creeped out. :) Carolyn Hart does it at the beginning of each of her Death on Demand books and I have to force myself to read that chapter each time. Luckily, she only does it once, it's not recurring and once I'm through it, I can enjoy the rest of the mystery. :)

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just finished Stitch Me Deadly by Amanda Lee . I think it might have just been the mood I was in - but I didn't love this book as much as I did the first one. I liked it, and I'll read the next one, but just didn't love it. I will say though, that the author never explained why the old lady ever asked for the progragonists help in the first place, which bugged me. As I said, I think it might have just been the mood I was in when I started the book. :)

message 2149: by Nell (new)

Nell | 1223 comments I just finished Love You Madly (Daytime Mystery, #3) by Linda Palmer Love You Madly. I've been reading this series in a row. I liked this one though not as much as the first two. I had to order the 4th book and it hasn't arrived yet so I'm taking a break from the series. The next one says it will look into the mystery of the main character's past - There have been references to her being 'found' and growing up in foster homes.

I like this series and have read about half of them. The class differences during that time come out more as the sisters marry men from different backgrounds. The mysteries are good. I don't recall them being graphic though they may not qualify as cozies.
