Heck yeah! Bring on the category!!! Can't wait to pick the book!

The only "bad" part about Sunday is that my daughter and I are driving to Detroit to see Paul McCartney, so I really won't get to start reading until Monday. Anything for Sir Paul!

There's nothing bad about that at all. Lucky dogs!

Hey Nici, I'll be there the second week of August. :) my husband has a convention and we'll be there the whole week, with him in meetings all day, so I'll have my ipad and shouldn't have any problem reading my book.

And it's sad when I'm looking forward to going to Vegas in August for some cooler weather than here in Chicago. Lol.

message 406: by Nici (new)

Nici (queennici102) | 697 comments LOL I was thinking the same thing! Funny thing, that we Will be there so close to one another

I agree with Laura.

I've seen him, a couple of years ago, and it was only 20 minutes from here, yay!, and it was fantastic!!!!

message 408: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Jackie - who says you can't enjoy a book with a beer? Sometimes make them that much better ;)

And yikes to those who consider Vegas "cooler"!

Has the pacing commenced yet? I also remember hearing something about an indoor pool? The latter is preferable, lol.

message 409: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Didn't want to be responsible for the heat stroke that would happen if we paced, so I'm hanging by the indoor pool.

message 410: by Cee (new)

Cee | 180 comments I would seriously prefer a heat wave to the weather we are having here. The whole summer we have only had 2 days with sunshine. We've had rain for over three months now. It feels like it isn't even summer at all.

Luckily I'll be going to Italy for a week. If the sun doesn't even shine there, I don't know what else to do.

message 411: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yep, it's just poured all day here too Jessica. 60 yr record for rain in July and we're not even close to the end of July yet.

But still I was hoping the indoor pool was heated, that would be nice. You can pace around the pool, if you like :)

message 412: by Zaanodes (new)

Zaanodes | 804 comments Sir Paul?!?!?! What in the world could be "bad" about that?? Enjoy!

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments My pacing will begin around 6 PM tonight.

Hope I can finish up Truthseeker today. Not sure what I will read next. Probably either American Vampire, Paranormalcy, or I might finish up The Greyfriar. I have to mail them all soon, but The Greyfriar I have more time for.

message 414: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments Hey, Laura. Getting some rain and maybe some good storms up there right now? *just checked the weather* Send it my way, please. I love storms. Although you live on the south side, so maybe it hasn't gotten to you yet. *doesn't really know how big the Chicago area is*

At least it's clouding up here a bit. *looks up at the sky* Hey, Sun! Give it a rest!

My fingers are crossed for some rain and hopefully a storm today.

You're still good. It will take at least 4 weeks before the first possibility of BINGO and that's if the stars are in someone's favor and 4 in a row lines up with the free space. C'mon lucky 7

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Hey it is storming! Woohoo! I will be in northern wisconsin from 8/6 through 8/13. Hopefully it will be cooler! But even though I will be in the northern woods I am will have internet. I CANT wait.

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments Lol! Yep Alyssa, we got the tail end of those storms. Woo hoo! The kids and I were standing at the windows, watching the storm roll in, chanting "We need rain...we need rain..." Lol. Sandra & Celine--we'll send you some heat, you send us some rain. My poor grass is brownish yellow and crunchy. Isn't it amazing that the weeds are just fine growing without water. Stupid jerks.

Regina, my kids will be in the Northwoods August 6-13. I myself will be in Vegas, but the inlaws are taking them up to 'Consin for the week. Where do you guys go? Did we talk about this before? I've been going up there since I was born, my grandparents used to have a place near the New Auburn/Bruce/Ladysmith/Chetek area, my two uncles have places in Minocqua, and hubby's family has been going to Hayward since before he was born.

I saw it on facebook. Too funny. :)

We've got lots of Illinois girls on here--me, Regina, Alyssa, Daffodil, new_user...who am I forgetting?

message 421: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Oh what a cool coincidence Laura! Last year was the first year we went, we stayed at a house on Round Lake right outside of Hawyard. The lake was absolutely gorgeous for swimmming and boating, such a deep and clear glacier lake. This year we are going to be on the east side near Iron Mountain. We rented a house in the forest, but it has a small 5 acre pond/lake that is supposedly swimmable. We will see. But I am looking forward to it, the house is beautiful and I love the woods. It comes with a kayak, canoe and a boat, so hopefully we will have fun on the lake (which also has a sandy shore).

You are so lucky! My parents never did anything like that with us, your kids are lucky too. But sounds like a nice get away for you and hubby.

message 422: by Laura Lulu (last edited Jul 22, 2011 10:25AM) (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments Lol! That's our lake! That's the only place Mike's parents stay, on Round Lake. We usually stay on Little Round, the smaller lake that connects under that bridge. I think the water was really low last year, though, and you couldn't go under the bridge. They have been going there every summer for over 40 years, and they always rent. Wouldn't you just buy a place? They had a lot on Little Round when I met Mike 16 years ago, but they sold it after I had Jack. I think they were planning on building a nice cabin and spending the entire summer up there, but then their first grandkid came along and they changed their minds. :)

Did you rent a private home or one of the Famous Dave cabins? We did a private cabin one year, but usually it's the Dave cabins. My s-i-l actually got married up there Labor Day weekend 2009. They rented all the Dave cabins and it was an awesome weekend extravaganza.

I guess we're lucky, but man do I hate that drive. I've been doing it almost every summer for 38 years, and I still hate it.

message 423: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments LOL 38 years and you haven't come to terms with it! I don't blame you for flying to Vegas. :) We rented a house on the opposite side of the lake -- directly across from Famous Daves. My family, my sister's family and my mom and dad all stayed (15 people). It was wonderful. But we had no AC, no internet, no cable, no telephone and no cell phone service. So the home I am renting this year is different, it has cable and internet -- for those in the party that dont' want to hike/swim/boat.

Is that your Jack at the bottom of the picture? It sounds like Round lake is really tied into your family history. :) What a great thing to have as a memory. And yes, I would defintely buy a house after/before all that time! It is my fantasy to buy a house on a beautiful lake in WI near the woods. Even better yet, I would love to have the money (LOL) to buy a former camp, with cabins -- and rent that out to parties, but then take my family up there and we could have our own cabins. I recently learned that some YMCA camps in southeastern WI have family weeks/weekends throughout the year -- families can stay in cabins and then do activities together. We may do that over New Year's Eve.

message 424: by Laura Lulu (last edited Jul 22, 2011 10:57AM) (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments Yep, that's Jack. That pic was actually the day after the wedding, they got dressed up again and had the photographer come back for photo shoot stuff. They went up town Hayward and got their pics at the candy shop, the disgusting Moccasin Bar, and other fun spots around town. Then they came back to the cabins, Mike's dad took the photog out on the pontoon, just off the pier, and she got pics of the crazy lunatics jumping in the lake! That's why Colleen's in her wedding dress, and her ring bearer is in the lake in a tshirt. Lol.

The place that my grandparents used to have was like that. They had owned it since my mom was 5, and sold it when I was 15--they were just getting too old for the drive. Wish they wouldn't have sold it, though. They had 5 kids, 14 grandkids and 23 greatgrandkids--we would have still used it! Lol. But it was one big house and 2 smaller cabins, and when my mom was a kid, they rented out the 2 cabins. Then once they started having kids, we needed all the room to ourselves. :) But it was nice, because there was always cousins up there when we were there since there was enough room for lots of people.

And we're going to Vegas for Mike's pipefitter convention. Every single guy on my mom's side of the family is a pipefitter, so everyone will be there--mom & dad, brothers & s-i-l, 4 uncles & aunts and assorted cousins. Good times. So Mike's parents are the only ones left to watch the kids, and they were probably like, "What the hell are we going to do with them for an entire week?" So they decided to go to Wisconsin. ;)

The rain just ended in West Michigan. The sun is coming out and the heat is returning. I've never seen water evaporate so quickly.

message 429: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments What a fun wedding weekend! I would never of thought of doing that (getting dressed again & crazy photoshoot). Great memories.

Sir Paul was definitely great!

Lucky you Kristen with the water evaporating, all I've got is mud. It's like taking your life in your hands just to get to the letter box. We've still got some grass, just hard to see under the water, but the mud is winning. LOL

message 440: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments No, just saying that's the time it is here, 13 hours like AH said.... (BTW, I'm in Japan, too). So, guesstimate time for a "reasonable" post time would be 12 hours give or take from that post.

She's usually posted in the morning, but of course, that depends on RL schedule ...curse it for intruding on fun stuff...lol!
